After a rather long journey, Ayanna made it back to Nar Shaddaa, a place she had not been to since her and Kalin captured Li so long ago. Those events brought back both bitter and sweet memories, and suddenly she realized once again how much she was missing Kalin, but she had to rid him from her mind right now. Now she was Finn Sundara, a woman she was not entirely keen of but it was so different from her that she could never be mistaken for her true self. Her appearance was radically different and her attitude was worlds away from her true one. She only hoped it would be enough to get her to the very heart of the Empire.
She found it pretty easy passing all of the security checks with the aid of her identification card from KDY. She was in the Corellian Sector of the planet, where this incident was meant to have taken place. She saw the freighter in question in dock, there was severe damage to the front of it, as it had been ripped to shreds. There was also damage to the right side of the hull, which was no doubt where a lot of cargo was lost from. Ayanna had already read the case file. The vessel failed to halt when entering the dock causing it to crash into a fuelling station. The results could have been disastrous but luckily someone had switched off the pumps and contracted the fuel to prevent an explosion which could have destroyed most of the port. This could have been a huge problem for KDY, lives lost, payments to be made, now they were trying to turn it into an opportunity, and only through her could they do that.
A security captain noticed her as she looked to the vessel,
"Excuse me Miss, your name?" He asked.
"Finn Sundara, I'm here representing Kuat Drive Yards." She smiled.
"Ah I see, you have ID?" He asked.
"Certainly darling..." She said as she handed him the emblem before he immediately gave it back to her, "I need someone to give me a tour of this freighter, you have some kind of expert around here?"
"Plenty of experts, just which kind are you looking for?"
"Preferably one who likes to gamble...." She smiled.
He nodded, understanding her angle here but it was none of his business, he was just meant to guard the thing. After a few minutes he returned with some dirty looking Rodian who seemed nervous of her.
"You were looking for an engineering expert?" He asked.
"Something like that, come, I want to look around this vessel and you give me your evaluation of what you think happened here. Okay?" She said, with the Rodian merely nodding and following her on board.
After a few hours, he came to a verdict, "Well here's the problem, right here. What happened was the control switch flicked when it was not meant to, this made controling the speed and more importantly the breaks impossible from the cockpit, that's why it failed." He said as he pointed to the device in question.
"I see, and how could something like this have come about?" She asked.
"Well look here, you can see the scratch markings on the side of it, this can be controlled from the cockpit, this function but not in this way. it becomes a computer function not a physical one. This shows that for some reason it flicked by itself, meaning that there is a problem with this section of the ship. I've seen this in other vessels, it does happen."
"Hmmm, but if these scratches were not present, then it could not be proven either way right?" She asked.
"Well, no it couldn't be. There would be no way of telling if it was an error on the part of the pilots in charge or the vessel itself."
"And what would in fact prove if it was the pilot? Would there be any evidence of this if someone were to check?"
"Well yes in the databank, the logs of the ships functions. If an error occured that the pilots had put in themselves then it would be there." He nodded.
She grinned, "And would there be any way of determining when the data was put in, say, even afterwards.... If you know what I mean...."
He seemed nervous at her question but answered it truthfully, "Well all of that could be altered too I suppose....."
"No one else has seen that data, I checked myself. How much would it take for you to cover these scratches and secondly, put the relevant 'information' into the databank?" She said as she walked closer to him.
He paused for a long while, thinking through what he should do and more importantly what he should ask for. He knew it was better not to refuse someone who worked for people like those at KDY, so he responded quickly.
"Twenty thousand credits...."
"Done...." She smiled, "Now get to it.... Fast...." She said as she waited, making sure no one would catch this in action.
Once the Rodian was done and his task completed, Ayanna collected all of the relevant data, evidence that she would need upon arriving at the Courts on Coruscant. She could not deny that the very thought of it scared her, she knew the courts were ruthless, and she was going to have to mingle with such a crowd that she was not comfortable with, but it was necessary.
She did not wait on Nar Shaddaa any longer. She had everything she needed to continue, if she could win this case for KDY, then her place in the organization would be secured, and that would lead to greater things, but also more dangerous things.
Her mind wandered to what everyone else was doing, Kalin, Qurhon, Amelia, Alluria and Asané. They all had no idea where she was and more importantly what she was going to do. She just hoped that they were all alright, and safe. She knew that she would get to see them all again once it was all over. Though she knew that she would be seeing Kalin sooner than all of them, and that was going to be the greatest challenge of all....
