Title: Arkania
Ayanna Nyx - September 20, 2008 08:34 PM (GMT)
Ayanna smiled to herself a little as she thought back on the brief encounter that she had had with Kalin on Coruscant, though she now tried to focus herself on the tasks that were at hand. Herself and Qurhon had a lot to worry about now, a lot that they were going to have to achieve. When Qurhon asked about her lightsaber, her heart skipped a beat as she realized that she had forgotten about it, though as though he had been listening the entire time, a message came over on her comlink from Kalin,
"Forgot to tell you, I gave your lightsaber to Amelia when I was on Naboo... Take care...."
She looked to Qurhon with a grin, and she knew that it was in safe hands with Amelia so she did not have to concern herself with it.
After many days travelling, they arrived on the abandoned planet that had once been the home of many Jedi, though it had been countless decades since it had been. But there had been an Enclave here at one point in time. Perhaps not the same size that was laying on Dantooine, but substantial enough.
"Well, here we are... Let's hope that we find what we are looking for...." She said as she stood and began to walk down the ramp of the ship.
Her skin curled on itself as she felt the freezing cold air and the snow blistering against her, this was a fierce ice world. She had hoped not to have to return to one so soon after just leaving the ice world of Ilum, "Great, more snow...." She smiled sarcastically, "At least you've got that head of hair to keep you cosy!"
Kalin Thalis - September 20, 2008 08:53 PM (GMT)
Qurhon grinned at Ayanna, "Just put on those protection clothes we got for Ilum. Wrap yourself up in it and then we can continue and find this enclave you were talking about. I'm not sure if it's active any more. I know an Arkanian who became a Jedi, named Arca Jeth built it. It's very small so I'm not sure if it will be easy to find. And like I said, that building has been there for thousands of years. It would be unlikely if it's still active, but if you think it's worth a shot, then we sure have to look into it.
The Praxeum was about a few hours of walking. In the mean time Qurhon talked just a little about Kalin, how she was feeling about their encounter,
"I could tell you were very happy to see him. It doesn't take a Jedi to sense that. Well I'm glad he brought back your lightsaber. I am worried though of how his encounter with Alluria must have been. Would you now with this knowledge have preferred to go to Naboo first or doesn't it make much difference to you?" They finally arrived at where they presumed the praxeum would be. There the building stood still pretty intact, however from the outside there was no sign of life.
"That's not a good sign..." Qurhon said not sounding very optimistic.
They walked further and Qurhon wondered still what Ayanna was hoping to do here...
Ayanna Nyx - September 20, 2008 11:03 PM (GMT)
Ayanna shrugged her shoulders, "Doesn't really make a difference to me. I don't think anything serious happened that we need to worry about, and yes, I was happy to see him again." She said with a smile, "I could hardly keep my feet from the ground.... But I know I should not dwell on such things, what matters is that he kept his word and also I had the chance to see him once more. I don't know how long it will be before I see his face again, but something tells me it will not be soon. Anyway...." She said as she tried to dismiss it.
The weather outside was fierce and not one for the faint hearted. The wind continued to blow hardened ice crystals against their skin as they got nearer to the abandoned Enclave. They both pushed the door as it grudgingly opened.
Though it was better than outside, the inside was freezing also, with a thin layer of ice covering everything. But it was better than being outside in the cold wind.
"Pff, remind me next time to take us somewhere tropical!" She laughed as she shook herself free from the snow in her hair.
She then began to look around at the inside of the Enclave, it was more desolate that she had expected it to be.
"Everything here seems dead but..... There is something...." She said as she walked ahead a little. She was not sure what drove her but there was something that was not quite right about this place.
As she walked ahead of Qurhon, she suddenly stopped, having heard something. She turned to look at Qurhon with curious eyes as she wondered if he too had heard it. Then finally the sound she heard was clear, it was a whimper. Ayanna picked up her pace and followed the little sounds she heard until she was lead down one of the adjacent corridors. Then there, hiding under some pipes was a little Zabrak child, a little boy shivering in the cold.
Ayanna immediately crouched down to see him though he was out of her reach, "Hey, hey there.... What you doing in here?" She said gently but with concern.
The boy was shaking, he looked no older than eight or nine years old but he brought himself to speak despite his fear and the cold, "S..... Sith......"
"Sith?" Ayanna asked.
"Y.... You're.... You're a Sith!" He said trembling.
Ayanna smiled, "No no, son. I'm no more a Sith than I am a wampa." She said with a grin, "Common out of there, we'll get you warm.... Common now." She said as she reached for him, she could tell he was likely a Youngling, though not very experienced.
The boy looked to her curious, she did not dress as a Sith, she did not act the way he was told a Sith would act, so he decided to trust that and began to crawl out of where he had hidden himself. Ayanna immediately took his hands,
"My god, you're freezing!" She said as she put her arms around him as she tried to warm him up, her held his arms around her waist as though she were his mother.
She looked to Qurhon with great concern about what was going on here.
Kalin Thalis - September 20, 2008 11:15 PM (GMT)
Qurhon also found it suspicious why the boy was here. He thought this place maybe had been under attack. He lowered himself to the boy's level,
"Tell us, boy. Has the Praxeum been under attack? Did the Sith infiltrate this place?"
From another spot, Qurhon heard another voice, "No, we could just feel other Force potentials coming. And even though we didn't sense any threat, we were not warned about your arrival, so we were just taking cautious."
The man who obviously was a Jedi looking at his attire took care of the boy, "Toro, stay with me, I told you to hide in the basement. How did you end up here?"
The boy didn't answer. The Jedi then looked to Ayanna and Qurhon, "I can assume you're Jedi too. We must be careful. These days even Dark Jedi dress as us to act as spies... But I don't sense the Dark Side in you, although there is a faint feeling of the Dark Side in the girl..." The Jedi said who kept himself into suspicion.
"She was a Dark Jedi once, but I taught her the light of the Force. Don't be alarmed, she can be trusted. Why you feel the Dark Side in her is for another reason. Well, it's complicated." Qurhon said as he did not want to reveal anything yet about Kalin. He would leave that up to her.
Ayanna Nyx - September 20, 2008 11:58 PM (GMT)
The Jedi led them down to where around 13 other Jedi from ages 6 to 50 were huddled together trying to stay alive. Ayanna could not stand this, these were people who had banished themselves to this remote regions, and they were going to die at this rate, long before any Dark Jedi or Sith would come near them.
Ayanna sat down on the floor as she began to speak, "Friends, my name is Ayanna, and this is Master Qurhon Vos. Some of you may know him by reputation, I do not know. We have come here to help you...."
Some of the Younglings seemed very happy to hear this, but the older Jedi were not so thrilled and were instead wary of what she was going to say.
"Help us with what?" One asked from a corner of the basement.
"Help you survive. You cannot hope to live out your days here, you will not last that long.... I'm surprised you have managed as well as you have done!" She said seriously, "We have come to ask you to put down your lightsabers. Give them to us so that we can rid you of them, and instead wait elsewhere in the galaxy, live normal lives.... Safer lives...."
This seemed to greatly insult most of the Jedi who were there, with one speaking out, "give you our lightsabers? What nonsense is this? You come all the way here saying that you will help us by taking away our weapons? It is ridiculous!" He said almost angry.
"Listen to me please, and understand. The dark Jedi are spread throughout the galaxy, and one by one they are searching the systems to destroy us all! Too many lives have been lost already for this. And for what purpose? To keep the Jedi alive? They already are. But this, this place, you all being here is exactly the point I'm trying to fight against. You are causing yourselves such suffering, I can't stand it. You are helping no one here, look at these children ,they should not be here. The Jedi will survive this, without you having to hold onto your lightsabers. Help the rebellion, that is where you can do good. Force potentials fighting against the Empire, that is where a difference can be made now. What are you doing here? Hiding? That's cowardly and it serves no purpose." She said determined as she looked to Qurhon for him to step in and back her up.
Kalin Thalis - September 21, 2008 01:34 PM (GMT)
"Watch your mouth, young lady!" We're not just hiding, we're training so we can resurrect our order. And how do you propose we help the alliance if we just did as you said... Just dropped our lightsabers? I don't think we would be of much help to them if we did. I don't see what point you're trying to make..." Another Jedi called out.
Qurhon shook his head, this was going the wrong way.
"Ayanna could I have a word with you?" He whispered.
Ayanna nodded, "Sure, what is it?" She replied.
"I don't think your approaching this the right way. Let's just inform them about Kalin's plan. Remember what Kalin said that whenever he has to kill a Jedi, they have to surrender their ligthsabers. That doesn't mean he said they could never use it again. He just needed their lightsabers as proof of their death... The only problem he had is how could he make a Jedi surrender their lightsabers. So I think you should talk about that instead of just giving up their lightsabers... Cause I don't think your reason to do so, isn't good enough to them... clearly if you look at the way they are responding to you..."
Ayanna Nyx - September 21, 2008 01:56 PM (GMT)
Ayanna nodded, taking his word into considerations, she then turned back to the Jedi, "Listen let us be honest with you. There is a plan at hand and if I tell you the truth then perhaps you will understand the importance of this. We all know how Palpatine was able to slither his way into politics, posing as just a basic politician but he was a Sith in disguise, and look at the damage he was able to do. Well we too have one of our number posing with the Sith. he is trying to gain their trust and respect but in order to do that he must kill Jedi, or at least appear to have done so. And he can only do that if he takes back their lightsabes as evidence of the slaughter. So what is better? To actually kill all of you for the sake of the campaign or for you to hand over your lightsabers to us? It is not forever my friends. There is hope..... The Chosen One still lives, that's all I can tell you, Master Kenobi still lives and he believes in what we are trying to do...." She said a little daring, "I'm not saying to give up being Jedi forever, but these are dangerous times and we must work together. You have no idea the importance you could be to the Rebellion, having Force potentials in the armies against the practically mindless stormtroopers. You could be generals, strategists any number of things. The Jedi will survive this, but many will die if everyone follows the paths that you are choosing for yourselves. Please understand, I'm trying to help you, we're trying to help you. We don't want anyone to be harmed. I swear on my life that my words are true and the cause I support is just. Please..... Friends.... Too many have died already, let us not allow these numbers to increase more than is necessary.... You are suffering here and I cannot bare that....." She said with genuine feeling in her heart.
Kalin Thalis - September 21, 2008 02:12 PM (GMT)
The Jedi were still sceptical. They weren't sure if she was telling the truth and as Qurhon they were not very hopeful about the Chosen One even if he was alive. The prophecy seemed dead.
"Well you can't just expect us to surrender our lightsaber to any Dark Jedi we see. Let's say you are talking the truth and he faces us. How will we recognize him? How will we know it's actually the one who you suggest is on our side, but is actually pretending to be a Dark Jedi. How can we tell the difference between him and the others? Will he identify himself? If he pretends to be a Dark Jedi he must be strong in the Dark Side too, otherwise the Sith would see right through him, am I correct? So how does he manage to do so..."
Ayanna Nyx - September 21, 2008 02:34 PM (GMT)
"He is balanced, what you could consider a Grey Jedi though he does not like that term. He has perfected staying in between, but his heart is with us. His name is Kalin Thalis, I cannot tell you if he will identify himself but he will be a representative of Vader. He is the only one at this time who is being sent to kill Jedi, I don't think you will encounter any others. If you attack him, he will not hesitate. Do not grab to your lightsabers to attack him. It is not the Jedi way. I have experienced this myself when I was a Dark Jedi, many just attacked out of fear, we had no choice but to defend. So think before you act, please." She said, wondering what they would think of her proposal.
Kalin Thalis - September 21, 2008 03:11 PM (GMT)
"Maybe this will help.." Qurhon said and picked up a holo-image.
He activated it and it showed himself, Alluria and Kalin when they were young.
"You see the boy standing next to the Twi'lek? That's Kalin. He's older now of course and he has longer hair. Wears dark armour with his Sith Tunic."
Qurhon showed the image around, "He's the one who was once a noble Jedi who sacrificed himself to become one of his enemies to save his brothers and sisters, the Jedi... Us!"
Qurhon exaggerated the story so they would have more faith in Kalin, cause his history wasn't as 'noble' as Qurhon explained it to the Jedi. If they knew most of his history, they would surely doubt him.
"Don't act when you see him. Negotiate, but be careful with your words. You don't want to come face to face with another Dark Jedi and betray him." Qurhon explained and hoped this would give more faith to the Jedi in their cause and in Kalin's.
Ayanna Nyx - September 21, 2008 03:49 PM (GMT)
One of the Jedi came forward, "I would like to speak for all of us if you don't mind." The old man said as he stepped a little closer, "I do not want any of us to suffer as we have done. We have done this only to ensure the survival of the Jedi, or the teachings. But, from what this woman, and this man have told us, I think we should trust them."
Some of the Jedi seemed unsure still, talking amongst themselves, but the man continued to speak, "This does not mean forever, it means for the moment. We will be able to pick up our lightsabers again, and perhaps they are right, with the rebellion, we can give them a better chance. Be the silent helpers, because here indeed, we are not helping them...."
Ayanna smiled, "Yes, that's what I'm trying to say. This is not something you will have to give up permanently, just for a time. The light is returning to the galaxy, I can feel it. But a lot of terrible things will happen before that day is realized. I just want to make sure as many of us are around to see it....." She looked to Qurhon, hopeful that they finally understood and were willing to accept.
The one who had argued against them the most before decided to speak, "Alright..... We will take your word on this. But if this stranger, this Thalis person tries to hurt any of us then we will be forced to take action."
"He won't do that...." She smiled, "Just be sure to be cooperative and hand over your lightsabers. Once things have returned to the way they should be, we can all reconstruct our own again....."
Kalin Thalis - September 21, 2008 04:09 PM (GMT)
"I think it's time for us to leave now, Ayanna... I think they now enough. So let's get back to our ship." Qurhon said throwing a comlink to the elder Jedi.
"Here use this. It's secured... If we get any news that Kalin is on a mission to kill you, we'll warn you. When he arrives you know what to do. Talk to him, don't immediately grab on to your lightsabers."
Qurhon turned around with Ayanna following her, "Now we should regroup with the other Jedi on Naboo. Inform them of what we've accomplished though as Kalin said we can't say anything about the Chosen One. They wouldn't believe us anyway..."
A long walk took them back to the ship. Inside the cockpit Qurhon asked Ayanna,
"So how do you feel about our mission here. Do you actually feel you've accomplished something?"
Ayanna Nyx - September 21, 2008 04:25 PM (GMT)
"I think so, though I get the feeling that there is going to be a lot of arguing now that we are going. But sadly, I think fear will keep them in line. They will be afraid to doubt us, they know that Kalin will be here.... So it's up to them how they approach that...." She said as they walked back into their ship, "Let's hope they make the right choice, we've done all we can...." She said as she sat back in the co-pilot seat.
A part of her was looking forward to going back to Naboo, and especially gaining her lightsaber back. Though she knew that she should not have possessions, it was her mother's, a true Jedi's weapon and she could never forget that. And she would always keep it with her whether she used it or not.
