ooc: I do apologize for taking so long to make my first post. This week has kept me busy.
Diego had landed Hawkeye at the docks of Cloud City. No sooner than they had departed his ship Diego led Alex straight toward the Casino. You see Diego had one weakness and that was gambling, Alex didn't like her father's habits and often times tried talking him out of loosing his well earned credits. Never the less, he still insisted one day he was going to win it big so he could buy her a nice living complex on Coruscant. His philosophy was that if you were where danger was at then you'd be safer. This didn't make one bit of sense to Alex but she nodded in agreement. Alex followed behind her father as he muttered things of unimportance to himself. Alex, as always paid no attention to it, instead she was watching for pick pockets.
They finally got into the casino and Diego went straight for the craps tables but only this time the old coot might loose his hand instead of him money. Alex took a seat beside her father as he ordered up a large pile of chips. The dealer handed him two dice which Diego made Alex blow before he rolled them. Alex turned her attention from the game to one of the larger televisions that was playing. Several news articles were on it concerning rebellions. Naturally, the reporters had been bought by the empire to cover up the real truth. Looking back at her father she sighed heavily but he didn't hear the young girl. Instead he was so focused on his game that he was sure he'd win something tonight. Alex took up her 'bored' look as she kept a careful watch on everyone around her - especially the dealer.
Two hours had passed and Alex looked up to see Diego well endowed with several thousand credits. Before Diego could throw the dice out once again Alex took them from his hand making Diego look at her. "I believe you've made out pretty good tonight. Shall we retire before you blow it all?"
Diego pursed his lips in thought and nodded. "Whatever you say kid. Thanks for the luck boys."
All who were gathered at the game table growled but regarded Diego coolly. Thankfully no one had accused him of cheating, which Diego had done in the past but he knew here that if you were caught cheating then you'd loose more than your money. He didn't want to get involved with Jabba the Hutt either but he had to. This last job he had taken was from Jabba himself which worried him. Nobody had ever contact him before about a job this serious. Diege hadn't told Alex about the job either because he knew his daughter was deafly afraid of Jabba, and with good reasons too. Some of the stories told and things Diego himself had seen would make your heart beat stop and skin go cold just thinking about it.
He took his earnings as Alex followed behind him. Before leaving the casino he cashed the chips and placed the credits into his account. Looking to Alex he nodded to her and the two of them left the casino heading back to Hawkeye. They had spent enough time in Cloud City and Diego knew Alex was becoming very bored.
Ray stepped in and breathed deep. It'd been forever since he'd been this free! He looked around and saw card games, slots, and other games.
"Hello sir. May I assist you in-" A man in a suit, probably a hat taker, or something.
"-Hm? Oh yeah yeah here," Ray took off his over robe and handed it to him.
"No sir I meant may I help you win a few extra credits?" His eyes gave him away.
So there's a card shark? "Yes why not kind man. I'd like to learn how to play...um...that one," Ray pointed at a card game he knew very well...Sabacc!
"Oh so you...don't know about this game...at all! The man hid a dark smile.
"No...should I?"
"No just the rules...and the stakes," The man practically looked like he'd been elected Emperor the way he smiled and strutted towards the table!
"Well what stakes shall we play? Ray asked.
"Well what do you have?"
"I have," Ray looked around on himself," 700 credits, this fine robe," Ray looked around, "and some info..."
The man's face hanged into a curious squashed kind of thing.
"What kinda info? The man pursed his lips a little like he'd just seen a bad play.
"That's for me to know and you to win off of me. So what do you have?"
He looked around on himself, "150 credits, and a deed,"
Ray saw the deed but it was rolled up and he couldn't make out what it was to.
"What kind of deed?"
The man smiled and mocked, Thats for me to know and you to win off of me,"
So they sat down and a droid dealt them hands. Ray had a total of 22 points! This should be easy. The guy thinks I'm a sucker and he's lost focus! Ray laid his cards down.
"Twenty-two! Ray called.
"Twenty-three!" the man said
Ray tipped back in his chair and let out a sigh.
"That means you give me the credits! The man pulled back Ray's credits and Ray realized he was broke!
"DOUBLE OR NOTHING!!!" The man called just before Ray stomped off
Ray turned on his heels and without a second thought picked up four more dealt cards. They played and Ray got 22...again. He eyed the man just in time to see him slip a card out of his sleeve. Ray smiled and went on playing. Again the man had twenty-three while Ray had one less.
"I believe you owe me a robe? Ray slipped the pistol out of his robe sleeve and into his under-shirt, pulled off his robe, and gave it to the man.
They played one last time and Ray lost.
"Now...for that information," The man grinned.
"Alright, lean over and I'll whisper it to you,"
The man rubbed his hands together and leaned over. Ray got to the mans ear and whispered, "Gotcha,"
Ray pulled the pistol out of his shirt and put it under the man's chin. Everyone gasped and in a minute a crowd had gathered. There were people on vacation, employees, and even armed guards.
"Put the weapon down! A guard said with his blaster aimed.
"Don't worry...this man's a con-man, a shark, a CHEATER! Ray had slipped his other hand into the man's sleeve and pulled out a few cards.
It took a while to sink in but finally everyone understood and the guards motioned for the man. He came over to the guards and was escorted away leaving Ray with everything he'd started with and more! He picked up his robe, his 850 credits, his deed, and went outside. He read the deed and it was just as Ray suspected.
"A junker," he said aloud.
He looked up and there it was...a piece of crap. Busted wing, one gun missing, nearly rusted shut and was very, very cramped!
"I'll call you...Missing Hope," A fitting name for such a thing.
He got in and set off for a test run.
