Title: The Halcyon
Description: Alluria Starfire's Ship
Amelia Rose Fitzwalter - August 30, 2008 04:40 PM (GMT)
Amelia took her training as a Jedi very seriously, and every spare moment she got during their flight, she practiced every skill that Alluria had taught her so far, apart from the lightsaber, which she wanted to leave until Alluria was about, just to be on the safe side.
Some of the skills, she found easier to practice if she turned them into a game, such as Force Cloak and Force Speed. it took her what felt like forever, just to grasp the basics of each technique, but soon she was slowly getting there...slowly getting the hang of things.
To practice Force Sense, she tried playing a game of dejarik with R2-KT, and tried to predict each move the droid would make. At first, she didn't do as Alluria had told her...she didn't trust her gut instinct and go for the first option that came to her, because she was thinking too much. But eventually, she just stopped thinking, and started to instead go with her instincts. After that, she was able to predict around 40% of the moves Katie would make, which wasn't bad considering she hadn't been taught the skill until recently.
After a few games of dejarik, she decided to practice Force Cloak, and again turned it into a game. She'd try to sneak paste Katie at every given moment without being noticed, then she'd call the droid's name from a corner of the room, and as the droid looked that way, she'd try to sneak back past again to stand in the opposite corner, where she'd repeat the name calling and sneaking, until poor Katie wasn't sure what to think anymore, and gave up, rolling away into another part of the ship with a series of whistles and beeps.
"Spoilsport," Amelia chuckled as she looked about for something else to do. Spotting a round metallic ball shaped object nearby, she practiced levitating it with Telekinesis, and calling it to her hand, then pushing it away again, then calling it back, then sending it away again, like a yo-yo on an invisible string.
Once she'd near enough mastered how to control the ball, she called it to her hand and threw it across the room she was standing in. Then she tried to use Force Speed to reach the opposite side of the room to catch the ball before it fell to the floor. It took her several attempts, just to get to the opposite side of the room, let alone in time to catch the ball. But it was progress, at least...and she really thought she was getting the hang of it now.
After growing tired of catching or missing the ball, she sat herself down in the middle of the room, cross-legged and tried some meditation. It came easier to her the second time round, as she didn't try to fight it...she just let herself relax, and not think about anything. And then she saw Alluria, through the force...standing in the doorway, glowing ever so slightly the same jade green as her lightsaber. She could feel the soothing vibes coming from the other Jedi, and smiled softly, finally opening her eyes to look at her Master properly.
"I've been practicing, just as you requested Master," she grinned, rising slowly to her feet, and bowing her head to Alluria. She had no idea why she'd just called Alluria 'Master'...but it felt right, somehow. It felt like that is what she should be doing. They were friends, yes...but even so, she had to show Alluria the proper respect...and even if she didn't have to...she wanted to. Although, she wasn't sure how Alluria would respond to being called such a name...she might not even like it. Still, there was only one way to find out.

"It's good that you have been expanding your skills, I can tell already you have improved, and soon you will need to learn the skills that will shape you as a Jedi. The ones that will effect who you become, not something to be taken lightly. It is probably best you look over them now in fact, I have listed them all for you
here , though of course you should only select universal or light side abilities, but you have a wide selection to choose from. Try not to rush it, it's very important." She said as she handed Amelia the datapad with all the relevant information on it, "Once you have an idea of what skills you would like to learn, let me know. To begin with we select five skills and then perfect them."
Amelia Rose Fitzwalter - August 31, 2008 12:21 AM (GMT)
Amelia spent a long time studying the information on the datapad, before finally she looked up with a determined look.
"I've chosen," she said, looking back to the datapad once more, then back to Alluria.
"Mind Control...sounds useful if you run into droids or stormtroopers...I hear they're very weak minded," she said with a grin.
"Breath Control because I can swim...but I can't hold my breath for long and that's the one thing that lets me down. Not that I intend to go swimming any time in the near future, but it's still a useful skill....erm...Force Heal...again, sounds useful...and this one...Crucitorn. I can't decide on a fifth though..."
Ayanna Nyx - August 31, 2008 12:44 AM (GMT)
"Excellent choices, a fine selection to start you off on before you learn of more skills. Of course like with everything in life you will find that you are better at some skills than others. So don't worry if you don't get maximum level on everything, I certainly haven't." She laughed, "We're both still pupils of the Force, don't forget that. I'm no better than you, I'm merely passing on my knowledge to you, my friend. You know you can call me by my name, you don't need to worry about the Master/ Apprentice titles. I only ever refer to them in formalities, but personally it is not necessary, there is no rank here. I'm certain I'll be learning just as much from your experiences and wisdom as you are from me." She smiled, hoping to encourage Amelia concerning her Jedi Training.
Amelia Rose Fitzwalter - August 31, 2008 12:54 AM (GMT)
"Formalities...right," Amelia nodded, feeling slightly embarrassed by that. But then she smiled a little.
"So...what skills have you learnt...if you don't mind me asking?" she asked. "And what were you saying about levels?"
Ayanna Nyx - August 31, 2008 11:47 AM (GMT)
"Well, I try to master in a little of everything, but the skills that I have maximized are Force Healing, Force Flight, Mind Control, Mind Trick, Battle Meditation, and Force Stun. I'm also trying to improve myself in Force Protection, but it is a difficult skill to master, and can be potentially dangers, it differs from healing in many ways." She said, "Of course, you will learn more skills than just the first five, these are just to start you off but in time you will recognize what you are best at, and it is those you should perfect, but it is best to know as much as possible about the other skills out there also."
Amelia Rose Fitzwalter - August 31, 2008 11:56 AM (GMT)
Amelia nodded in agreement, as this certainly made sense.
"What you and Kalin used to get to the Island...was that Force Flight?" she asked curiously, thinking back to their encounter on Naboo.
Then, after a moment, she frowned, and said quietly, "Do you believe what he said about possibly having to hunt us? Or was he just trying to intimidate us? And do you think he'd ever find us, if he did have to hunt us?"
Clearly the Dark Jedi were worrying her more than she'd first thought. And not just Kalin...but all Dark Jedi. Because she knew he wasn't the only one out there...what if they met up with others who weren't so lenient as he had been?
Ayanna Nyx - August 31, 2008 02:02 PM (GMT)
"Yes it was Force Flight we used, it is not so difficult to use, but it is more elegant than a Force Jump which we also could have done.... Concerning Kalin hunting us, it depends on his orders. If he is ordered to hunt us, then he will, to the death. That is the way of things, he and I may have a history but it is just that, history and nothing more. He has to listen to the will of his Masters, who are the two most dangerous men in the galaxy, which doesn't make our situation any better. But all we can do is keep running, which for you I know is difficult because of your duties on Naboo, but we can do the next best thing, which is to prepare. And perhaps soon we will be able to reveal the truth about you to your Queen, then you may receive royal protection." She smiled, hoping it would make her feel safer.
Amelia Rose Fitzwalter - August 31, 2008 02:11 PM (GMT)
"I don't know," Amelia replied quietly. She knew Alluria was just trying to reassure her that things were going to be alright...but she was reluctant to get the Queen involved if she could help it.
"The Queen has ties to the Empire...they keep her safe as long as she obeys and pleases them...if they ever found out she was protecting me...helping the Jedi...they'd kill her for sure. And then who knows what would happen to Naboo...? Forgive me if I sound selfish, but I do not want that to happen because of me..."
She sighed, realising the dilemma she was in. She loved her job at the Palace...loved Naboo...loved it all. But then she also loved this new life as a Jedi...a life that granted her the power to make things right...she could not give up either of them...and yet one of them had to give way to the other...
"Sorry," she muttered, knowing that it wasn't Alluria's fault. "I don't mean to sound so ungrateful...I know you're only trying to help...which I am truly grateful for...it's just...the reality of this whole thing's starting to sink in now and...well...it's not as simple as I presumed it would be..."
Ayanna Nyx - August 31, 2008 03:01 PM (GMT)
She smiled, feeling a little sorry for Amelia, "It never is, is it.... But you always have a choice Amelia, if the life of a Jedi is not for you then you can always leave it behind, I would never grudge you of such a thing, ever. It's understandable. For me, I was always raised to be a Jedi, I have known nothing else, but you have had a past experience of families, friends, work, I understand how it is difficult to decide what is the right thing to do. You are entitled to think about yourself, you shouldn't think of it as being selfish, we all do it."
A sounder began to blare out, signifying that they were coming close to Dantooine, as Alluria brought the ship out of Hyperspace.
Amelia Rose Fitzwalter - August 31, 2008 03:10 PM (GMT)
"Believe me...I don't regret joining you and training as a Jedi for one second," Amelia grinned, her tone lightening after Alluria's gentle words.
Then the alarm sounded for Dantooine, and she crossed to the window to look out at the planet below.
"So...what can we expect from Dantooine then?" she asked as she joined Alluria in the cockpit. "Only...I've never been to any other planets aside from Naboo, Mandalore and Coruscant...and my knowledge of the Galaxy is rather vague and limited..."
Ayanna Nyx - August 31, 2008 03:31 PM (GMT)
"Dantooine is a peaceful planet, mainly grassy farm lands, though not one without dangers. Kalin and I once went on a mission there when we were teenagers, in fact he liked it so much that he named his ship after one of the local species there, Thrantas. They are enormous flying beasts, very beautiful." She said as she began to pilot the ship into the system.
"A lot of the great crystal caves have either been lost or destroyed thanks to the will of the Emperor, but still a few exist, but none so fine as Dantooine."
The ship swerved and darted through the atmosphere of the planet before it landed at the station.
"Now, it would be best to hide the lightsaber you carry, if anyone asks, we are merchants, it explains why we have come here to scout, pretend it's for local produce." She said as she placed her cloak on and raised her hood up, "Remember to remain cautious and vigilant, always." She said, hoping that things would go smoothly though on this world.
Amelia Rose Fitzwalter - August 31, 2008 03:46 PM (GMT)
Amelia listened carefully and nodded as she pulled on her own cloak. Though she didn't raise the hood just yet.
Tucking her lightsaber into a pocket out of the way, she waited for Alluria to lead the way, wondering what this planet would have in store.
"Hood up? Hood down?" she asked with a grin as they waited for the ramp of the ship to lower. "I mean...what would a merchant wear?"
