So, recently a few character concepts have crossed my mind:
An Antarian Ranger living some place secluded (exiled and/or hiding). It's obviously a twist on the hiding Jedi, as everyone associated with them were equally made hostile to the Empire. However, it isn't a Jedi, but simply a poor soldier hiding in the wilds. (I think there's a charm in having a "normal" person hiding out - though the Rangers' connection with the Jedi and Old Republic could be a background problem in terms of this site's background rules).
Then there's the spacefaring trader. Essentially a guy who's finally managed to get himself a ship and travel the galaxy in search of good trades or other jobs, honing the art of the deal. (That would be, I don't know, a cross between a smuggler and business career?). I like how this character can travel a lot, drop into a cantina in search of a job and find money or trouble wherever he goes. He's also a prime suspect for player-interaction (where the Ranger above is more like "the mysterious guy who returns to civilization" - in search for someone to book him passage - like this trader guy).
Then there's the senator or diplomat concept, possibly represented by a Tapani Sector noble, and the endless webs and vails of Galactic Diplomacy. Being a Tapani Noble, he could be arrogant, or being a representative of a different planet or sector, he could be a helpful informer or other to people (players?).
The first concept (the Ranger) is the story-heavy concept. That guy has a history, a plot and is at constant danger if his former ID is ever revealed. The second concept is more story-light, instead it relies on constant interaction and creation of one-shot plots. The third is also a bit like the second, but being into politics it also got the opportunity to have a story-line surrounding it. I like them almost equally well...
So.
Err...
Help? ;)
We'll need to research this first ok? Either myself or Kalin will get back to you
Sure thing. No stress :) I'm just on a (little too) creative streak :D
My apologies for the double post...
Any new thoughts from the admins?
On the chat yesterday, Scott came up with the idea of combining the Ranger concept and the Trader concept - the trader essentially becoming the alias the Ranger is using when he leaves his hiding place.
The character's connections with the Jedi is obviously non-excistant at this point. A memory forcibly forgotten and laid to rest during the times after the clone wars. The Jedi and their allies are outlaws - even borderline myth in some cases. The Jedi don't excist, the Rangers don't excist, as a result the character doesn't "excist", so he's putting everything behind him, eventually (or at the start of his story/end of his bio, at least) and forges a new identity. That of a (happy-go-lucky?) trader living for the art of the deal.
Well I see not really a big problem with it, but it depends what this person's connection with the Jedi is. Ayanna as leader of the Jedi has to judge if that is allowed or not here.
