Title: Work for the Needy
Taves Sarfell - March 28, 2008 12:24 AM (GMT)
Taves walked up to the edge of the forest and waited. Would the bounty hunter come? Would he be willing to help him? When Taves had searched him he sensed no treachery, but then again, he wasn't a master of reading people with the Force. All he could do now was trust to hope. Taves clipped his lightsaber onto his belt. To any other Mandalorian it would seem that he was merely a Jedi Hunter. However it might be the non-vocal cue that Scott would need to recognize him from Nar Shaddaa.
scottborek - March 28, 2008 12:31 AM (GMT)
After Scott was sure he wasn't being watched he entered the forest and after a couple of minutes he found the mandalorian who wasn't one at all he recognized the lightsaber on his belt and he immediately new it was the Nar Shaddaa Jedi Scott started by saying, "I see you get around, I'm not going to ask where you got that armor and what you did to that man but I'm glad you made it now what can I do for you."
Scott took off his helmet see he could here clearly.
Taves Sarfell - March 28, 2008 12:53 AM (GMT)
Taves watched as he saw Scott's face for the first time. He wished he could do the same for Scott, but his identity had to remain confidential for the time being. "Well, as I told you there are more Jedi like me. However I can't roam this planet as freely as you can. A friend of mine has been captured, I don't know for sure, but I think it might have been Jedi hunters. I need you to check the records for the intake of Jedi and come back to me if you find anything interesting. You think you could do that for me?" Taves knew that he could try it on his own, but he knew that if he were caught he would be killed immediately, or imprisoned. Either way wasn't an attractive idea.
(OOC: If you decide to search then you can't turn up anything specific. Right now this is just a free roam mission for me. This will probably be my last post tonight, so take your time and enjoy.)
scottborek - March 28, 2008 01:03 AM (GMT)
"Sure I'll try but I need to know were to meet after this so unless you have a comlink I can communicate with than that is our option right now unless you shadow me."
"Scott put his helmet back on to cover his dark blond hair, hazel eyes and beard stubble so no one else there would see his face and recognize it when he is searching.
"Remeber my armor is green with blue clothing."
The man said he had a comlink and told him the frequency, Scott then walked out of the forest to the spaceport to see if he could find any flight records indicating the kidnappers arrival.
(OOC:When I report it will be in this thread)
scottborek - March 28, 2008 08:39 PM (GMT)
"Hello this is Scott reporting in, I could not find anything concerning the kidnapper in the Spaceport terminal, I'll check the main compound for anything and then I'll report back (whispering) to the forest and talk about the next step well take in this matter." Scott said, then turned off the comlink and ran for the main compound.
scottborek - March 29, 2008 03:07 AM (GMT)
"Hey what is up jedi I couldn't find anything on the kidnapper I think he landed on the outskirts or unregistered transport. What should we do now?"Scott asked the Jedi.
Taves Sarfell - March 29, 2008 10:07 PM (GMT)
Taves contemplated the situation for a moment. "Nothing, for right now you remain to appear as a mandalorian. That is your greatest advantage. Lay low and try to keep from being spotted by anyone who might have seen you. I said my friend might have been taken by a Jedi Hunter. You've held up your end of the bargain. Now I need to do some work of my own. Jedi out." Taves felt it odd that he was referring to himself as Jedi. "Oh well, now for the dangerous part."
scottborek - March 30, 2008 03:59 AM (GMT)
"All right, if you need anything just ask jedi I'll be around just comlink me, over and out."Scott replied.
Scott turned off his comlink he is going to have to find something to do over the couple of days until he says something. He walked off into the city.
Kalin Thalis - March 30, 2008 09:28 PM (GMT)
"Now this is a rare sight. A Jedi and a bounty hunter working together. Maybe you do have some darkness inside you Jedi. Maybe there's hope for you!" Kalin said as he stepped out of the darkness where he came from.
"I knew there was a Jedi here, my hunches were right. I thought I would find you on Naboo, but I had to track you all down to this filthy place. Not really a place where Jedi would hide. At least not as revealing as you." Kalin said in a mocking voice, though he promised to Ayanna not to get immediately in an aggressive situation with this Jedi. And he was going to keep that promise, it just depended on the Jedi too.
"I'm not sure how we are going to work this out. I presume you know who I am. Well at least 'What' I am." Kalin said, while Ayanna just showed up from behind him.
Ayanna Nyx - March 30, 2008 09:29 PM (GMT)
Ayanna didn't look towards the Jedi with a threatening expression, no she merely looked serious, with a hint of worry in her expression. She too wasn't sure how they were going to solve this, she wished they could let this Jedi lead his life. But she knew it was impossible. She had made an oath to the Sith Code, and she had to stick to it. She left the talking to Kalin for now, she didn't want to get involved unless things went too far.
Taves Sarfell - March 30, 2008 11:34 PM (GMT)
Taves turned. He could tell what kind of presences these were. However futile the action was he brought his lightsaber to his hand with the Force. He didn't activate it though. He wanted to be as ready as possible without actually asserting a challenge. Although he was in no way prepared for the pair of faces that met him when he turned to face them. He almost laughed at the irony of the situation. He actually did crack a bit of a smile. He lowered his lightsaber to his side, as he fully recognized the faces of Kalin and Ayanna. "Well, rather ironic we should meet here considering the last time we met I was a mandalorian. You look a little more sober this time." He didn't mean it as an insult. It was merely a bit of levity he thought he should throw in. "To what do I owe the pleasure?"
Kalin Thalis - March 30, 2008 11:55 PM (GMT)
"Oh it's you, I didn't recognize you without the stupid mask." Kalin said insulting. Maybe he wanted a peaceful solution, but he enjoyed a challenge himself and he wanted maybe this Jedi to get enraged at him. But maybe it was also because Taves already had reached for his lightsaber, though not ignited.
"I sense much fear in you, Jedi. Grabbing that lightsaber is not going to work in your advantage. Does it make you think you are 'prepared'?! "Well maybe we'll find out later how well trained you are, cause I can sense you are stronger, but not that strong."
Kalin stepped forward without grabbing for his lightsaber, though the crystal in his arm was tingling and twirling around as if it had a mind of its own. He held his hands up to pretend he already was defeated.
"Seriously, put the thing back on your belt, and we'll do some talking. Do you really think that you can take someone on who had years for training. I don't want to sound arrogant, but it's the truth. Maybe you would become stronger than me, but that day is not now...."
Ayanna Nyx - March 30, 2008 11:55 PM (GMT)
Ayanna merely listened as she watched both of them. She didn't like this, and couldn't understand what the purpose of this was in essence. She didn't want to force this Jedi to do anything, but she had to keep her mouth shut. But still she decided to speak,
"Please..... We merely want to talk.... There is no need to get violent.... At least..... Not yet.... Not the way I see it..... I will not reach for mine unless I'm absolutely forced to.... And if you are a Jedi, then you know that one does not attack.... They merely defend, and we are not attacking you...... So please....." She said as she hoped to keep a balance to this, and also kept her eye on Kalin.
Taves Sarfell - March 31, 2008 02:19 AM (GMT)
Taves was prepared to lower his lightsaber after Kalin's speech, but when Ayanna kindly asked him to Taves felt more than compelled to comply. "Alright, if you both are not here to kill me, then why are you here. Don't tell me I'm so great a threat that the Empire has put a bounty on my head alive." Taves seriously doubted this. It was strange what they seemed like now as opposed to the last time they had met. Ayanna especially seemed to be different. It was almost as if she were a Jedi. Why that was Taves had no idea. No doubt the pair had seen things recently that had changed their outlook on the galaxy.
Kalin Thalis - March 31, 2008 02:28 AM (GMT)
"No, you're not the greatest threat to the Empire, Jedi. Don't flatter yourself!" Kalin said sarcastic though he still wanted a peaceful solution, it was just in his character to be sarcastic. If the Jedi didn't like it would be his problem.
"Sorry, I like to provoke people. But the truth of the matter is that I want a peaceful solution to this, but it depends on you. If you are going to grab to your lightsaber, I'll grab mine and one of us dies, and guess who I'm placing my bets on..." Clearly he was disappointed no lightsaber fight was probably going to happen, though he tried to twist his way towards it.
"Why if I was such a coward, Jedi. I could call the 501st to clear up the mess. But I still want to give you a chance. Just tell me what you're up to, but I want your complete honesty, otherwise I can't let you go alive. That is not a threat, that's a fact." Kalin said in a calm manner. All this peaceful talk made him a bit sick. He wasn't used to it, that's why he still sounded a bit threatening, so that he wouldn't make it to easy on the Jedi.
scottborek - March 31, 2008 02:35 AM (GMT)
Scott saw the other jedi approach when he left so he decided to sneek up on the conversation behind a tree and listen and if things got interesting he could help his pal out. But he would just sit here with his inhanced hearing until then or until he was caught and called in.
Kalin Thalis - March 31, 2008 02:41 AM (GMT)
Kalin felt insulted that this bounty hunter thought he could play tricks on him. "You shouldn't hide from that tree bounty hunter. The Jedi probably felt your presence and I felt it, so come on out and show yourself." Kalin provoked the bounty hunter to come forward. He sensed that there was a bit of confusion inside him. He didn't really have a good idea of who Kalin exactly was.
"If you try to save your friend, that tree is not going to help you..."
scottborek - March 31, 2008 02:47 AM (GMT)
Scott stepped out from behind the tree and sat down on a fallen log in the area of the three people. "Who are, a jedi and what are you doing on the peaceful planet of Mandalore?"
Scott knew that this guy was seeking out the jedi but he wanted to see how this guy would react, especially in front of his jedi girlfriend or padawan.
Kalin Thalis - March 31, 2008 02:56 AM (GMT)
"A Jedi ey?" Kalin ignited his lightsaber which gave a red beam of light. He didn't ignite it to fight, but he wanted to show that he wasn't a Jedi. Letting Ayanna ignite hers would create confusion as her ligthsaber was still purple.
"No need to be alarmed, Jedi, I'm just showing this bounty hunter the truth of who I am..."
He lifted his lightsaber up and slashed through a tree that fell right in front of the bounty hunter's legs, missing him by just a few inches. Then he turned off his lightsaber and placed it on his belt.
"I must say, 'the peaceful planet of Mandalore'? That is amusing considering that you've got an army of bounty hunters here under the rule of Boba Fett. Sorry, but that doesn't strike as peaceful to me..."
scottborek - March 31, 2008 02:59 AM (GMT)
"Well Mandalore doesn't have stormtrooper's over every sq. foot of the planet like say.... Coruscant does and there have not been any revolts or civil wars here in forever so relatively speaking it is peaceful."
Scott said with amusement.
Taves Sarfell - March 31, 2008 03:09 AM (GMT)
Taves looked toward Scott, then back to Kalin. "This matter is between you and I" said Taves as he finally clipped his saber back onto his belt. While he was at it he took off the helmet and jetpack from the armor. All that remained now of it was what clung to his torso and legs. "Don't worry about him he won't interfere with our talk. Because that's all there's going to be. As for why I'm here the honest truth is I'm looking for a friend. I wondered if he had been captured by Mandalorian Jedi Hunters so I asked this one for some help looking into the records here."
Taves stood before Kalin and Ayanna as he did when he first met them. He told them the truth, knowing first hand that if Force adepts such as them heard a lie they would know it. He felt that like the first time he met them if he told the truth, then they would hold up there end of the bargain. Although now that his end of the bargain was held up, a question came to mind. "Which brings me to ask. So far it doesn't seem that it was the Mandalorians who took him. You two wouldn't happen to know if any Sith besides yourself have been sent to hunt Jedi on Naboo recently, would you?"
Ayanna Nyx - March 31, 2008 03:18 AM (GMT)
Ayanna stepped forward as she gazed towards Scott, the newcomer, "I think Kalin was referring to the fact that the Mandalorians have been involved with war more than the stormtroopers ever have.... Stormtroopers are mere infants compared to the legacy of the Mandalorians...." She looked at Taves, "We don't know if any other Dark Jedi were sent to Naboo, we were sent personally by Darth Vader, and he didn't mention any such thing...." She said as she tried to keep things peaceful, though the arrival of Scott made the situation more tense, and she hoped Kalin would not overreact, or be too rash.
scottborek - March 31, 2008 03:40 AM (GMT)
"I wonder why there aren't more of you Sith force users out there I mean if there was more of you you could crush this growing rebellion like that, but I guess you guys prefer to leave the dirty work to your rip off Mandolorian stormtroopers."Scott said, "Or maybe Vader doesn't trust you enough to do the mission by yourselves or to tell you all the details."
Kalin Thalis - March 31, 2008 03:47 AM (GMT)
"War is the stormtrooper's business. The Jedi and the Sith fought in our own ways. But this war is different. We are too busy with a war with the Jedi itself. Stormtroopers were created from a true Mandalorian, while a lot of the Mandalorians now are just bounty hunters dressed in a mandalorian armour. So who is the real rip-off here? Probably the only true mandalorian walking on this planet is Boba Fett."
"But this isn't about the Mandalorians or the Stormtroopers. I am a Sith in a name, but not in habit or actions. I encountered Jedi as Obi-Wan Kenobi and other. And it always came to a conclusion that of either peace or death. It really depended on the Jedi. Obi-Wan was wise to let me walk away and I swore to never betray him to my master, for I know that he still has a great part to play in this 'game'. Question is what you want, Jedi! You can't tell me you just came to look here for your friend and then walk away. That's not going to happen. You both are Jedi, am I right? This friend of yours?! Well if you want to walk away, then you'll tell me what your goals are. Sorry.... I am a man with not much patience!"
scottborek - March 31, 2008 09:50 PM (GMT)
Scott saw how impatient this man was getting so he said something that might satisfy his inquery,"I think this jedi really only is looking for his friend because that is no real importance to him being here otherwise. He won't be able to turn the Mandolorians to any side other than the Empire because the Empire is paying them considerably so I don't think he would have come here for that and it was just a last minute thing to move here because Jedi Hunters are mandos and they are based here just like every other Mandolorian. I think he told the truth and told you everything." Scott said brushing his semi-long blonde hair away from his face.
Taves Sarfell - April 1, 2008 01:23 AM (GMT)
Taves could see that he wasn't going to satisfy Kalin with a brief synopsis. "Alright, I suppose you want the whole story. In plain truth, my friend and I have no allegiances to the Empire. They killed our brethren, and more personally killed my father. It was because of them that my mother was reduced to poverty. She died trying to care for me. I'm not one to lay blame, but as far as I'm concerned they are responsible for her death to." Taves knew that this probably wouldn't fly very far with Kalin, but he looked pleadingly into Ayanna's eyes, hoping she would understand. "If we have the choice we will go and help the Rebellion. This weight of oppression has lied on the galaxy for far to long. I personally intend to see it lifted."
scottborek - April 1, 2008 01:34 AM (GMT)
Scott becamed fired up at the speech the jedi said and he got up and got his jetpack on and had his hands ready to grab his blasters if the situation escalates like it might do if the conversation continues on its current path. He took a step forward and left his helmet on the log behind him so it wouldn't impede his vision.
Kalin Thalis - April 1, 2008 02:26 AM (GMT)
"Well we got ourselves in a tight situation... Interesting though." Kalin looked at Scott. "You hear that 'Mandalorian'? He wants to join the Rebellion, traitors to the Empire. The Mandalorians have a tight contract with the Empire and you're going to help him."
Kalin looked down as his grin became more sinister, not because he was here because of evil actions, but because he thought many wouldn't understand his reason for being here.
"However this isn't about the Empire. I work for the Sith and I myself have no allegiance with the Empire any more. My loyalty lies with Vader. I do not care about his allegiance to the Empire, there's a lot more at stake. Though I do not want to see your death, Jedi... I can't let you walk away to join the Alliance. My loyalty still lies with Vader and I don't care if you are a Jedi. You're not my enemy. You're no threat, but the alliance is towards the Sith. Most of them might be on the wrong path, but they'll turn once they see the light."
Kalin wondered how he could explain all this. Kreio did not give him a chance to explain as he was almost identical to a Sith. He was only a Jedi in name, but not in actions.
"I don't care where the loyalty lies of this bounty hunter, but I can't let you join the Alliance for they are creating a war, they can't win. If you want to fight the Empire, then you'll have to unite the Jedi and now is not the time to do so. You think I'm setting you up? Your Jedi senses should know if I'm telling the truth or not."
"I'm telling you. The Jedi will unite under one man, but not now. I've made great discoveries, which I wish I could share, but it's too dangerous. Listen after you've rescued your friend, go to Tatooine and seek out Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Jundland Wastes. It should be easily for you to find him... Ask him for guidance, before you make a choice you would later regret..."
Taves Sarfell - April 1, 2008 02:40 AM (GMT)
Taves listened closely to Kalin's words. Indeed he was not lying. "So you're just going to let me go on my way to find my friend?" It seemed all too easy, although Taves knew it was not going to be. "If you promise me that, then I would have no qualms with seeking out Master Kenobi first." Taves now realized where he had heard the title The Negotiator. He now realized that that was where his masters wished to take him and Zen. He looked at Kalin and Ayanna closely. He did not expect treachery, but he was still in a sort of state of disbelief.
Ayanna Nyx - April 1, 2008 02:48 AM (GMT)
Ayanna was glad that Kalin did seem to remain calm as he said he would, she decided to give her word in this, in the hopes of comforting Taves in his decision, she spoke in a soft voice, "To swear allegiance to the Rebellion is not a wise move during these times... You are already walking the path of the Jedi... That is dangerous enough..... The Empire is still hunting them down, but the Rebels are climbing in priority, for the Jedi are nearly completely gone anyway......" She said looking back to Kalin, then to Taves again, "Obi-Wan Kenobi will give you his honest opinion..... As Kalin said, it is best to listen to his words before you make a decision on this..... We don't wish to harm you.... Just take it as....... Friendly advice...." She smiled a little, "Not all Dark Jedi will speak to you the way we have..... But we have met before, and after this encounter well.... We hope you will make a wise decision...."
Taves Sarfell - April 1, 2008 03:01 AM (GMT)
Taves smiled. In some sense he felt that everyone in the galaxy regarded the right decision as the safest one. He couldn't agree with that. If the winning side was always the right one, then knowledge and reason could change like the seasons. However he knew in his heart that they did have some valid points. "Alright, I will seek Master Kenobi out, but the first thing I must do is seek out my friend. We will go to see him together or never. That shouldn't be a problem since he's not someone we wish to avoid." He hoped that this response would satisfy the Dark Jedi.
Kalin Thalis - April 1, 2008 03:14 AM (GMT)
"You're making the right choices Taves. It's noble you want to join this rebellion. But they are feeble in numbers. Also think about the consequences if you did join them. You're a hunted man, so if the Empire would have found you, they would find the Rebels too. You would betray their position easily if you would have joined them."
Kalin gave a final look to Taves.
"I'm not helping you because we met before or because you're a Jedi. I'm helping you because I think it's the right thing to do. Strange word from an assassin who works for the Sith, I know... But it's true. Good is a point of view. The Sith want good too, though their vision of good is far away from mine. I think my point of view is still closer to that of the Jedi. The problem is that the Sith are still my brothers and I can't just betray them... Not without giving them a chance. They can be swayed...Maybe not all, but there is still hope..."
As Taves walked away with the bounty hunter he gave some final words to Scott: "Listen... My connections with the 501st are very strong. This man might be a traitor to the Empire, and you have a contract with the empire, but you'll help him otherwise I won't hesitate to tell the 501st that you're helping a Jedi, which would risk open war. Just once help him and the mandalorians can do as they please. I don't care."
scottborek - April 1, 2008 03:20 AM (GMT)
Scott nodded as the Dark Jedi told him his orders, Scott grabbed his helmet and said,"I understand, I will help him as best I can and that was a noble thing you did I hope we meet again on more peaceful terms."Scott grinned and walked towards the Jedi and said,"You can't get rid of me so easily you'll be seeing my face a lot more often."
"Hey dark one, do you have any hints to where we can look for his buddy, a lead we could use the help."
Kalin Thalis - April 1, 2008 03:28 AM (GMT)
"If the Jedi hunters got him, you won't find him here. As I said the mandalorians still have a contract with the Empire and it gives out high bounties for Jedi. If indeed a Jedi Hunter got him, he would be picked up and brought to Korriban for imprisonment. If your friend has just disappeared then you might have a chance of finding him here, but I doubt it. And here grab this."
Kalin threw over a com-link. "Just give me the name of your friend and I'll check out if he's on Korriban. Then I can maybe give him a chance to escape. It wouldn't be the first time I've done so. Though the other Masters in the academy suspect something of course, so releasing this Jedi would Jeapordize my position. I can't promise you anything and if I were you I wouldn't go to Korriban myself. It's loaded with Dark Jedi, you wouldn't stand a chance. That's not a threat, that's the truth...Sadly..."
After Kalin learned the name of Zen-Tak-Low, Taves' friend, he left with Ayanna back to the Thranta, where Kalin had his mind on another mission. It wasn't really a mission but it would be interesting to find out.
scottborek - April 9, 2008 01:14 AM (GMT)
Scott thought about what Kalin said about them not going to Korriban because it was too dangerous and thought about options such as orbiting the planet and have this jedi sense if Zen-Tak was on any leaving ships and shadow it to its destination to free him."What is our next move?" Scott asked.
Taves Sarfell - May 13, 2008 09:50 PM (GMT)
Taves breathed a sigh of relief. He hadn't expected the encounter to go that well. "Well at this point I think it is best we both part ways. You have done more than enough to sacrifice yourself. I think it's best I continue my search alone. You may stay here if you wish. If you want a way out of this profession I can tell you that there's a place for you on Alderaan in the security service, but then again you might be able to be very useful working here. If you do choose to go there tell them Taves Sarfell sent you. If not may the Force be with you." Taves smiled at Scott. "Is there anything I can do for you before I leave?"
scottborek - May 13, 2008 11:49 PM (GMT)
Scott thought then shook his, "No I'm fine and I might check that place out, if you need anything and that place doesn't work out I will probably be here somewhere. So I bid you farewell, Taves, who knows maybe we'll meet again Jedi."
Scott walked away towards the Mandalorian hangar and put on his helmet. Scott had a strange feeling that this wouldn't be the last time he'll see Taves again and that great things are in store for his future and hopes he will find that other Jedi.
Taves Sarfell - May 28, 2008 03:40 PM (GMT)
Some hours after Taves had left Scott, he arrived back at the ship. It had been a relatively fruitless trip, but he had made an ally which could prove very helpful in the future. Taves only hoped that Scott didn't learn the hard facts of bounty hunting before he decided to leave it, or at least that if he did stay with it not to become a murderer. Taves remembered a time when he had traveled down that path.
After the pre-flight checks had been made and the engines made their familiar hum, Taves made a stealthy exit from the planet he had once called home.
