With wavy brown hair, blue eyes and heroic good looks, this suave young man is sharp as a tact. His movements are animal like: lithe, quick and dangerous. When he smiles that insolent smile or smirk, it's the kind nobody forgets: it is daring and frankly sexual, white teeth flashing against skin. Those blue eyes of his that twinkle with devilish mischief, blue eyes that seem to blaze out of his face: eyes that could turn cold as agates if someone irritated or displeased him. His face is normally clean shaven, though more often than not, he sports a 2 days worth of stubble on his face.

Wearing nothing more than an off-white long-sleeved shirt that hangs naturally off his shoulders, so that the seams come down an inch or two because he wears the shirt open and free, adventure pours into the billowing sleeves and short collar. The billowy sleeves and open neck provide dashing comfort and generous freedom of movement. The shirt lies unbuttoned revealing a deep dark charcoal grey pair of pants barely restrained by the very large dark black belt that lies over the entire ensemble including a crimson red sash around his waist.

Worn, smooth and soft black boots finish the look. A rainbow colored band of rich colors glint in the sun from behind a rough worn gauntlet on his left wrist. Emblazoned around his neck on a gilded chain, strides a silvery smooth pendant with a gold/bronze colored mountain, with crashing waves below it, the same color star as the mountains, to the north west of it. On his left ring finger is a old silver ring with a small amethyst set in the center in a oval shape.

Above the mountain written in an ancient and almost forgotten tongue from ages past is some kind of phrase. If he were to turn around, you would notice that his left earlobe is pierced with a tiny gold hoop earring. When the weather permits it, worn over the off white shirt is almost knee-length fine black suede with gold trim, open coat. The slashed sleeves are also trimmed with gold and gold buttons. It's designed to be roomy, so that the sword arm is not impeded.

Alterations in the Wardrobe:

Sometimes he wears a leather knee length coat that is split in the back from the bottom hem, to the natural waist. This is worn over a white embroidered puffy sleeved shirt, other times it’s a puffy-sleeved red burgundy shirt and leather vest and no jacket. He has also been known to wear a dark red, dark green ivy, or blueish-grey bandanna, from time to time, as well as black high heeled boots.

A puffy sleeved white shirt, which has a long waistcoat, that comes to mid-thigh worn over it. This waistcoat is blue on the front, and dark gray with a pinstripe pattern, on the back, the back being shorter than the front. There are buttons all along the right side. The buttons only go down a few inches below the hip bones and from there down it's just the vest. The vest has pockets on both sides. They are large square pockets with flaps, and have two metal coat buttons to fasten them. He also wears a pair of dark brown or dark gray drop front breeches, which are tucked into his brown suede leather boots.

Among the other changes, he is also wearing a leather cord necklace with what appear to be charms and other trinkets hanging from it instead of the pendant. On his left ring finger is once again, the old silver ring with a small amethyst set in the center in a oval shape, on his left index finger is a skull ring with a green emerald in the center, on his right ring finger is a carved silver dragon coils around a pale jade center and forms part of the silver ring that has a dragon on either side of the oval center with the dragon coils ring and on his right index finger is a black onyx inlaid with a gold floral design ring.
.

Equipment:

In their own individual velvet pouches are several pieces of jewelry. One is a skull ring with a green emerald in the center. Another is a black onyx inlaid with a gold floral design ring. Two more are a gold oval amethyst that is a deep purple, the color of ancient royalty ring, and a carved silver dragon coils around a pale jade center and forms part of the silver ring that has a dragon on either side of the oval center with the dragon coils ring.

However there are two items that stands out above the rest if you could find them, hidden in a small compartment in a safe, but undisclosed location, is a stunningly crafted in solid 18 carat gold signet ring. Set on a shield of onyx is an intricately carved, finely sculpted in exquisite detail, a gold lion, the symbol of courage and power. On either side of the ring is a heraldic fleur-de-lis that also has as much attention to it as the lion.

There is also a shield of black onyx on a pendant about the side of a 50 cent piece that is surrounded by gold, and has the same intricately detailed, and sculpted gold lion that, also has miniature vines on either side of it made of gold and onyx with tiny silver 2 fleur-de-lis on the right hand corner of the shield above the lion and one at the bottom of the shield. The family motto, “A coeur valliant, rien impossible.”, is inscribed below the lion in a tiny gold banner. Translated it means, “To a valiant heart, nothing is impossible.”
Every nobleman or woman from Naboo to Alderaan would know what both items are. The ring is part of or more than likely is, his family’s crest. The pendant is his family’s coat of arms. Either signifies him as a member of a noble family. You wear the coat of arms as a patch on your upper bicep on your coat, on your carriage, as a large logo on your back of your coat, on a pendant or on a ring, and further still, you hide them when you don’t want this fact advertised.

Personality:

Damien often relies more on alertness, agility (including acrobatic swordplay), and being quick-witted (including any available object as a weapon), to protect him, rather than brute force, though at times that has been subject to change. His redeeming qualities are that he is a chivalrous, gallant, courageous, and astute young man. At his best, he is clever, heroic and courageous.

His less admirable qualities are that he is “a bit” imprudent, individualistic, adventurous, and last but not least impetuous at times. He can also be preoccupied, brooding, single-minded and extremely focused... However despite his faults, those that actually know him, however would say that he is fiercely loyal to those he cares about and would risk everything when they, are in danger.

First and foremost, Damien is an intrepid rogue. He comes across as somebody with a wild look in his eye. There's a dark side to Damien that will surface whenever a member of his family is in trouble or something reminds him of some of the bad moments from his past, as he is reluctant to talk about it.

This has led him to several sleepless nights as he is still coming to terms with his life and the ups and downs that he has been dealt, as he is dealing with it the best he can, to the best of his abilities in his own way, like he usually does.

Damien lost his innocence and naiveté, along time ago and learned a great deal about human nature in the process.
His skills and talents reveal strength and agility born of practice and application.

It’s also true, that he's a drinker, carouser, and rogue, but he is also dedicated to his own goals and a life of freedom on the space or in the high seas, being what he wants to be and not what everyone else wants or expects of him because of his title as a nobleman’s son. Also it should be noted that he never compromised on his principles, despite all that happened to him.

His experiences have taught him valuable lessons. He will not kill or maim unless absolutely necessary (for the most part..). He does not hit women, though he has been provoked enough to do so (unless absolutely necessary). He does live by a code, a code that has been modified over the years.

He simply wishes to be what he is, a captain at the helm of his own ship. He is happiest when seeking “that horizon.” By himself, he will harm no man, woman, or child. But provoke him or do wrong by him, watch out! Damien has a long memory and a keen mind for plans and details.

Damien is a deeply complex man who has always it seemed loved his precious freedom. Not much gets by him. He is ever watchful and observant, both of his environment and human nature.

Biography
--------------------
Childhood

“It’s not blood that conveys nobility...”-- Said to a young Damien by his father Ran Torrington.

Damien Brant Torrington was born the second eldest of 4 children to Ran and Naya Torrington, a noble family (who have been sailing merchants for many generations..) in one of the core worlds. His older brother Adan is 30, his younger brother Mikal is 24, his little sister Aimee is 21 and Damien himself is 28. He was also raised by his father's friend, the family’s weapon instructors Valo Hodrren Valo's best friend Paydon Arundel, who would visit the boys when they were not busy with their own families.

Damien showed his character at an early age. A handsome child with a mop of brown hair, sparkling eyes, and an impish grin, he was an impertinent charmer at the age of four. He built a model of a pirate ship with the skull and crossbones at the stern, which he sailed across a nearby pond. He would play swashbuckler with his brothers on his family estate, as well as they would all play with their little sister since she did not have any girls to play with as she was the only girl grandchild on either side of the family, till their cousin's had daughters.

However, Damien would consider himself close to his older brother Adan, whom he considers his best friend and his little brother Mikal is close to Aimee, with whom they share a similar relationship. Also since his family was merchants besides nobility, he loved the sea and sailors in general. Whenever he was ill or tired of the various jokes that he would play, Damien plunged into what became a lifelong habit of somber meditation and bouts of reading.

It was here in a poem called "Sea Fever", that he found his greatest solace and guide to his life..

"I must down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull's way and the whale's way where the wind's like a whetted knife;
And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over."

Lessons Learned In Youth

Everyone around him would note that even then, he had a temper and liked to fight, but he protected the weak and hit out at those that would use their strength and power to bully others. In one instance, while at the local market with a friend, a gang of local school roughnecks set about punching him, and his blue eyes sparkled at the prospect as onlookers would note.

He loved a fight and as soon as they tried to rip his nice outfit off of him, Damien was onto them. There were five of them against the two of them, and Damien downed the whole pack in double time murmuring “that will teach those F***ing bastards...” as he straightened up his uniform.

He also learned that his Weapons Instructor and his close friend had been Acerobats at a young age, so in addition to swordplay that his father taught his boys when he was able and they polished the rough edges; they also taught the boys Acrobatics and how to use the rare and exotic Light foil as well as a Blaster.

Also due to the fights that he got into, he learned that in order to survive in a fight, you use whatever weapon is available and handy, disregarding the qualities of fairness and rules, much to the suprisement of his parents and instructors.

Damien also learned to trust his own instincts and to look inside the person, ignoring the exterior, and find the good or bad within and use that knowledge to make his judgments. In other words, not to judge a book by its cover. All of this occurred before his 10th birthday. He also experienced a event that would change his life forever..

Tragedy

The young group that Damien had beaten up earlier turned out to be a childhood bully of Damien’s, and this proved fatal for his first love Lea. He was with her on the beach, as he was often found there, on the shore just watching the wave’s crash against the shore. Well they had chased her into the sea, and since neither of them knew how to swim well at this point, Damien almost drowned in a vain attempt to save her life as he somehow dragged her body to the shore before passing out.

As it turns out even with all of this incredible technology that couldn’t save her and his first love, ended up dieing due to a blow to the head she suffered during the chase into the sea she never regained consciousness. This devastated young Damien and later that day, he ran away from home, to the beach and watched the sun set, sobbing and swearing that on this day, he would become a sailor, that he would master the sea.

A Sailor's Life

"A Sailor sails the 7 Seas, and maybe 7 more.."

So Damien became a cabin boy on his father's close friend Capt. Aidan Zeiken. Adian would note to his father with some humor that Damien was a quick study and it was more like future Captain in Training than Cabin Boy. This was true and by the time he was 13, Damien had piloted his first ship as a Captain to everyone's approval.
Damien also learned how sailors are a superstitious lot and even picked up some of their beliefs, most of which is just nonsense with abit of fact hidden in it somewhere.

Take these examples:
"Ring around the moon, rain or snow soon." A halo around the sun or moon indicates high ice crystals in the atmosphere. More often than not indicates harsh weather within three days. And if you counted how many stars were in the moon that was how many days you got of rain or snow.
or
"Red sky in the morning, sailor take warning." A red sun indicates the two elements that are essential for rain to occur: dust and moisture. A red sun is a fair warning of foul weather.

These are just two of hundreds of superstitions that a sailor picks up on his travels

Now let me explain something here the different types of sailors:

Merchants - are those who use their ships for trading or other commercial activities. They include businessmen hauling their cargo from one port to another, to less savory positions such as smugglers and bootleggers.

Those who commit the act of piracy—and by extension, robbery, pillaging, or plundering at sea—are known as pirates. They answer to no one but themselves and most feel obligated only to the profits they steal from their victims.

A Privateer is essentially "pirates for hire" granted official sanction from a government to patrol the seas. They prey on their employer's enemies, stealing booty from rival nations while keeping the more formal navies from getting their hands dirty. They also engage in escort duties and specific missions.

Naval Recruits - are those that belong to a nation’s navy serving as either officers or seamen aboard a military vessel. What they do is self explanatory and probably doesn’t need to be gone into.
Damien also began spending his time in local taverns and other places that sailors frequented and by the time he was 16 he was as much at home in the sea, as he was on land.

He had also struck out on his own at this point, with his own ship The "Fiddlers Green" and found out early on that playing by the rules didn’t always make one rich, so he smuggled a few items here and there to make a little extra income. He also found out that early one, he shouldn’t act too high and mighty, and to keep who he really was close to the vest, as he would be judged by that than his own individual merits and flaws in addition to it might not sit well with some people.

Damien also found out that because of his looks and mannerisms that girls could not resist him, and the many who did peruse him avidly, were not disappointed. He was a sexual athlete who had extraordinary staying power and a deep understanding of women’s bodies. They would note that he was inventive and daring in bed and had the capacity to make any woman he was with feel like they were the most important creatures in the world for the length of time that they were with him.

18 And Life To Go..

By the time Damien was 18, he had something of a reputation about him as a "Swashbuckling Rogue". He was also by this point in his life a privateer for the queen doing jobs that the navy could not. He also had a girlfriend, by this time named Talia who fancied herself a pirate and a thief. The 5' 9" brown haired, green eyed woman and Damien became lovers and went on several adventures together, but their relationship eventually fizzled out when Talia lied to him often, and was more often than not thinking more of her than of the both of them in the last few adventures that they were in together.
As two years went by, he had returned home on his 20th birthday, to spend some time with his family.

It felt good to see them and while watching his father and former weapons instructor repair their light foils, the idea dawned on him that there might be a way to keep them from going out at odd moments, so he gathered what he had learned about the saber construction, which wasn’t much, only that they were weaker versions of their more deadly cousins, the light sabers.

So he started to look around old book stores and libraries for any articles that might be of assistance to him, though it wasnt much help, as well the majority of that information is a guarded secret and was lost during the purge, that has not caused him to give up hope, and this is one of his other pastimes besides somber meditation and reading.

Missing In Action

It was while doing a routine transport for his father, whom had asked him to transport some fine linen to one of his best sellers that something mysterious happened. A terrible storm fell upon Damien and his small cargo ship and despite his best efforts and experience at sea, he abandoned ship. Alone and by himself, he drifted for several days at sea before blacking out.

He cant recall how he got there, or even how long he had been out, but he awoke on a small island with what seemed like the worst headache that he has had and a new piece of jewelry on that he had not started out to begin with, a leather band with a rainbow colored bracelet on his left wrist. He thought this was strange to say the least and after coming to his senses, he found out he was alone on the island, though there were all the earmarks of this being an island that bootleggers, smugglers, pirates and privateers used as a little rest stop or from time to time a drop point, having used such locations himself.

So knowing this, Damien found a small cache of supplies that had been left here by accident in addition to a broken dingy with a hole in the bottom and set about making himself as comfortable as possible. He used what he knew of survival to keep himself alive for a grand total of 3 days till a local passing ship came and he was able to get their attention and managed to catch a ride to their destination.

From Riches to Rags..
"Poor may eat from hand to mouth, while the rich drink from a golden cup.."

Damien was dropped off as promised at their destination, however, now he was essentially dirt poor as all of his money that he had brought with him which wasn’t much, was at the bottom of the sea and he was along, long way from his family, so now destitute for the time being, he lived by his wits on the streets for a month, which also to an extent humbled him. It also got him thrown in jail when he tried to con a advisor to the local baron into buying his supposedly talking pet which until a few moments ago had been a stray.

Unfortunately for Damien, this also happened to coincide with a 4 year mini rebellion in which a small army of the poor townsfolk and a exiled nobleman tried to overthrow the local baron, with whom unknown to everyone else had stolen the title from the rightful ruler, the exiled nobleman.

Damien wasn’t dressed like a noble man, nor did he have any identification, that was at the bottom of the ocean, only his word of who he said he was, which, nobody had ever herd of, because unbeknown to him, he was a very, very long way from home. He was arrested as a traitor along with several other townsfolk, though the exiled noble and a few others managed to get away scott free.

The Life of a Slave

So he along with 248 of the 500 townsmen, convicted in a series of trials which became known as The Bloody Assizes, were transported as cheap labor, worth more alive than dead to a small set of roughly 20 island colonies as a source of cheap labor. You can also guess how he was feeling, though somehow through this, he managed to keep the bracelet, for some unknown reason.

It was here, he was inspected like he was a piece of livestock rather than a human and to say it disgusted him is an understatement. It was also here that his faults got him into trouble when he mocked a wealthy merchant who was inspecting him. He was slapped twice for his efforts, however his daughter, a 5’6” green eyed, brown haired beauty, was smitten by his looks and Damien found out how much his life was worth, 10 credits.

He was taken back to her estate and well you can guess what she wanted him for. So for several months, he was in a sort of debit bondage (is a means of paying off loans with direct labor instead of currency or goods..) as he had to “work off” the 10 credits that she paid for him in the form of being a concubinus, the male version of a concubine for this woman.

Damien spent two years like this, keeping in shape by doing what he had learned from an early age, acrobatics and fencing at night, while everyone was asleep, which also gave him time to look around his surroundings and start to formulate a plan for escape, before eventually escaping when a small band of pirates attacked the town that he was in and he managed to escape amidst the chaos... (Though what he doesn’t know is that she wanted him to produce an heir and she got what she wanted, a son born some months after his “demise”.)

He managed to make his way to the docks, while fending off the attacks as best he could, picking several pockets along the way, as they were not going to be needing their credits and managed to also get a new pair of clothes, just a simple puffy-sleeved white shirt, a simple brown jerkin, brown breeches, thick brown stockings and a pair of leather boots.

Damien headed to the other side of the island finding a river along the way and managed to clean himself up and get rid of his rags he was wearing and managed to make himself somewhat presentable and with the credits he had “borrowed”, bought a room onboard a ship that left the island for fear of another pirate attack.

There Damien sat alone in his room, deep in thought about his life and the events that lead him to this point.
He thought about the cultured comforts, the fine food and drink, a swoop ride through his estate and such and how then he was drinking from a golden cup, to now being a former sex slave, needless to say all of these experiences have made an impact on him.

A Change in the Wind

Earlier, while traveling through to the other side of the island, he had man aged to find an aged pendant. When he dug the pendant out from it's hiding spot, he observed that first it was a gilded chain, then the pendant itself was silvery smooth with a gold/bronze colored mountain, with crashing waves below it, the same color star as the mountains, he noted was to the north west of it. Above the mountain he made an educated guess was some kind of phrase written in an ancient and almost forgotten tongue from ages past, as he could not read it.

Damien murmured a low thanks to the sea and whoever was watching out for him and he took the pendant along with him to his room and cleaned it up and put it on, then before shipping out, buying himself a Vibro Rapier for 300 credits and a pair of rough breeches and leather leggings, a simple grey shirt along with a simple brown tunic and a pouch that could be worn over his shoulder that was large enough to keep some food, and his few belongings in (11" Wide, 12" High and 3"thick.)

After spending several months at sea, they eventually reached land, and as it turns out as he would later find out, the baron had himself been stripped and the rightful heir had been replaced and all the slaves were granted their freedom.

So with his new wardrobe, his new piece of jewelry, the pendant, and the small amount he had managed to make onboard his return to civilization, he was once again off.

Over a period of two years, once he got his bearings, the now 24 year old did various odd jobs, to put a roof over his head and a meal on the table, living by his wits and skill with a sword. He made his living by traveling from town to town and dueling for money with whoever would challenge him, mostly arrogant noble youths, putting the skills he learned as a youth to good use once again.
Damien also did a few jobs for various sailors and in various ports, eventually picking up a 5'3" blonde haired, and blue/green eyes (or green/grey, he could never tell which they were depending on the lighting) woman named Riema Sarn who was also the same age as himself for a traveling companion. They had several exploits together, including once again how to get light foils from going out, which proved to be unsuccessful, and their partnership came to an end when she got word that her father was ill and someone was needed to look after things back where she lived, so they split what they had earned together and she left, but not before they gave eachother parting gifts, he gave her an ancient guilded chain with a silvery smooth coin from ages past, and she gave him an old silver ring with a small amethyst set in the center in a oval shape.

Damien and Riemaalso spent the night together, then in the morning with a heavy heart, they both parted company and Damien figured that it was time to finishe heading home.

The Prodigal Son Returns
By this time, he had made his way back to his home lands and made his way back home a few days shy of his 27th birthday, much to everyone's surprise as they all thought he had died at sea. Everyone was overjoyed, especially his mother to see that he was alive and well, though a somewhat changed man than he was when he left. He had a exact copy made of his family crest and coat of arms ring and pendant and kept the originals in a safe compartment at his families home and the copies, he took with him, though he did this in secret.
He also wondered about his rainbow bracelet, for several times, in cases of real emergency during the past hectic years, it shimmered and seemed to remind him to not give up, and little things like that, but other than that, it didn’t do anything. This has leaded him to believe that the band, well the metal, is alien in origin.

He also rested for the time being sort of weary from his travels, so he stayed at home and rested with the support of his family, though he did not tell them much of his past, as it isn’t their burden to bear. Damien did other things, like reading, before yearning to be free, of these ghosts and his past on this planet, Damien took some of his belongings and headed off into space, to seek more fortune, and adventure, there in the stars, and in distant worlds, much to his parents somewhat disapproval.
