Title: Palace Library
Amelia Rose Fitzwalter - August 30, 2007 08:44 PM (GMT)
Amelia finally found the huge library that extended the length of one side of the Palace and set to work researching speeches the Queen had made throughout the years, both before she became a Queen, and after she was elected. One particular speech caught Amelia's eye and after she'd listened to it a few times, knew that it would be the perfect one to practice with.
She used her comlink to make a recording of the speech so that she could practice with it later if she needed to, then she listened to it over and over again, noting first the words, then the pronounciations, then the emotions that the Queen used.
When she'd heard it enough times, she paused it and said it out loud, first in her normal voice, then slowly changing her pronounciations, and her emotions. Although she still sounded very much like herself at the moment, the way she was pronouncing each word definately sounded more like the Queen than she had before.
Looking over her shoulder, she suddenly became very aware of the fact that she'd been talking to herself in the middle of the huge room, and although the other occupants of the library weren't looking at her, she knew they'd heard her and were probably wondering what on earth she was doing. This made her blush in embarassement and she quickly collected up her things and hurried from the library. Luckily she had her recording on the comlink to practice with now, which was better than nothing.

"Hey Asane," Amelia muttered as they walked into the near empty library. "What exactly are we looking for? And where on earth do we start?"
Sitting down at one of the terminals, beside the one Asane had chosen, Amelia sat her satchel on the floor and turned the terminal on.

"As Queen you must know almost everything there is to know on Naboo politics.... Past... Present... And predictions of where it is going.... Well, predictions that they want you to say... Sadly I think Naboo is as doomed as the rest of this galaxy... It is already a shadow of it's former self.... But anyway... The most important things for you to learn is of the reigns of the past Queens... Amidala is always an important figure because it was thanks to her work that there was finally a peaceful union between the Naboo and the Gungans.... And another notable Queen is Apailana, who was the Queen before Kylantha.... She was killed.... By 'Jedi rebels'.... Never believe that.... Never! But that is the official story....." She said with a frown on her face.
Amelia Rose Fitzwalter - September 23, 2007 06:01 PM (GMT)
"Yeah...when I heard about her death I knew it wasn't what it seemed. Hers was just as suspicious as poor Amidala's...and I think its more than coincidence how the Jedi were blamed for both deaths. But still, if that is what the empire wants us to believe, then I guess thats what we should believe...in public, of course...even if we know it not to be true."
Pausing for a moment to think about things, she turned to Asane again, a quizical look in her eye this time.
"Asane...Amidala died a hero, right? So why is it that hardly anyone ever speaks her name now? How is it that one of Naboo's most prominent figures, who led this planet into peace, has been forgotten...it doesn't seem right."
Ayanna Nyx - September 23, 2007 06:35 PM (GMT)
"It is because of the times that we live in..... Remember Amidala was disliked by many people.... She opposed the creation of the Clone Army which is a great feature now in the Empire, and also she was against the Clone Wars which is no doubt how the Emperor took his grip of the galaxy.... She is not a liked figure in the Empire, and I think that they prefer that she remain forgotten... The only ones who remember her fondly are her loved ones, her relatives, the Naboo and the Rebels...." She said quietly, "I remember meeting her once when I was a child.... I had already decided to go into protection services and when I told her, she told me to work hard and that with that I would be able to achieve anything.... That was nearly a year before she died...." She said saddened.

"I'm sorry Asane," Amelia sighed, "I had no idea...I met her once, apparently...according to my mother, I was just a baby when my mother met with her to discuss something. I don't know what they discussed, but I apparently slept through the whole thing." She laughed at this, as if it amused her, even though she had no memory of it ever happening.
"At least you got to actually speak to her. At least she left you with a memory of your encouter. I've got nothing except the word of a dead woman."
Sighing again, she seemed to make up her mind.
"If it's possible, would I be able to visit her family some time? I would very much like to know all I can about her, to satisfy my own curiosity as much as for the sake of my training. Or would this be too intrusive to them? I do not wish to go and upset anyone with unwanted questions, because I'm sure they've had enough of those over the years."
Ayanna Nyx - September 23, 2007 07:09 PM (GMT)
"Well all that remains of her family now are her sister, and her nieces.... Her parents both died some years ago, I don't think they ever fully recovered from their daughter's death.... Her sister Sola still lives in the mountains with her husband.... And yes you already know of Pooja....." She said smiling.
Amelia Rose Fitzwalter - September 23, 2007 07:16 PM (GMT)
"Yes, I remember Senator Naberrie. She seemed very warm and friendly. Do you think I should start with her? Or the rest of her family? I have a house in the Lake Country too, so perhaps I could invite them over one day? Or do you think that is too much? Am I being too eager to learn things that should perhaps be left unknown?...Am I asking too many questions? Please, stop me if I am, because sometimes I just don't know when to stop."
Amelia shrugged as if this was something she had no control over, then looked to Asane quizically. "Am I making sense? Or am I just ranting again? I do that alot...rant... I do not seem to know when to stop that either, I'm afraid."
Ayanna Nyx - September 24, 2007 10:14 PM (GMT)
"The Naberrie family very much keep to themselves and like their privacy.... Although Pooja very much is in the public light she is the same.... But she has already met you, perhaps the next time she returns to Naboo or you to Coruscant, you should meet up with her.... Right, I'd better return to my duty... You'd best to study on your own... But not too hard! We also have lives to live also... So have some fun too!" Asané said as she stood and began to leave the library.

"I'll try!" Amelia called after her with a grin. Then she turned back to to the computer terminal. The words were blurring and jumbling infront of her eyes...a sure sign that she'd had enough for one day...any longer at this terminal and she'd give herself another migraine...something she was very keen to avoid. Jotting down a few mental notes about what she'd learnt so far, Amelia left the library and wandered out into the market place, aiming to visit the bank and deposit some of her wages. After all, it wasn't safe to carry all your money with you at once...even in a place you could trust, like Naboo. It would be wise to deposit some in the bank, just as a back-up incase anything should happen.

After leaving her room, later that morning, Amelia walked to the library to do a bit of research. If she was going to teach Tal how to be a security guard, she had to know what sort of things would be expected of him, so that she could prepare him for every scenario he might encounter.
As she trawled through one of the terminals, not entirely sure what she was supposed to be looking for, however, she had to wonder if this what Asane had always done before teaching a new student. Thinking of Asane made Amelia feel rather emotional and angry once more...she had been Asane's last student...and she'd failed her. Even now, after everything...talking with the Queen...with Hopal...even going through the event again and again in her mind...she knew now that it wasn't her fault. But still she kept blaming herself.
When the terminal froze, she bashed it angrily and cursed under her breath, fighting back tears.
"Temper, temper," someone chided softly, from nearby, and Amelia turned to find Ruune standing behind her. He was one of the Naboo Royal Guards.
"What do you want?" she muttered, turning back to the terminal again.
"Just checking you're alright," he shrugged, drawing up a seat beside her. "Watcha doin? I haven't seen you in here for ages."
"I'm just...I dunno," she shrugged, turning the terminal off and facing him properly. "I'm supposed to be teaching this new guy how to be a security guard...which is easier said than done when I only know how to be a handmaiden and decoy."
"Need any help?" Ruune offered, adjusting his uniform a little. "I am a guard, after all."
"I'd love some," she smiled. "You could train him if you like? That would be a help"
After a moments consideration, Ruune nodded. "Sure, Princess...I got nothing else to do."
"Don't call me that."
"What?"
"Princess."
"Why not?"
"It makes me feel uncomfortable."
"Sorry, My Lady."
There was a moment of awkward silence, and then Ruune's grin had Amelia grinning too, and the tense moment was forgotten.
"So where is this fly boy then?" Ruune asked, looking about. "I don't see no-one."
"He's not a fly boy," Amelia laughed a little. "And he's in his room at the moment, although I told him to meet me down in the firing range in an hour."
"Well he'll get a shock when he see's me, then, won't he?" Ruune's grin expressed his great love of toying with the new recruits, and Amelia raised her eyebrows at him.
"Oi...you be nice...sounds like he's had a bit of family trouble...so go easy on him, yeah?"
"Hey, when have I ever not gone easy on someone?" he asked innocently.
"Erm...everyday?" she offered, in a sarcastic reply, and his ever increasing grin told her she was right.
"You know me too well," he laughed. "Well, I'll see ya later then, Princess...let you know how fly boy gets on," He said as he got up and started to walk away down the library towards the exit.
"He's not a fly boy, and I'm not a Princess!" she called after him, although she was laughing, because she knew he was only joking.
