Title: Planet Poll Ideas
Taves Sarfell - August 6, 2007 10:29 PM (GMT)
I thought I'd open a thread for suggestions of what people would like to see in an upcoming planet poll so that it would give Kalin and Ayanna an idea of what people might be thinking when they decide it's time for a new planet. I'd also like to get a look into people's minds. Me personally think that eventually would be useful to the time line and playing in general if Mimban was added to the next poll. How about you?

I think Endor would be good, because you've got the Imperial base there...or Hoth, with the Rebel base.
Ayanna Nyx - August 8, 2007 02:59 PM (GMT)
Well Endor won't come into play for a long time, the Imperial base was only built there when the construction of the second death star was in force, so at the moment it's just a planet of trees and furballs lol
With Hoth, it is just an ice block, once the events of Episode IV have finished on the RPG, which is a long way off yet, then the rebel base will be on Hoth instead of Yavin IV.
We're just looking for planets with real benefits for the timeline we're in. And 'cool' can't be a reason lol It needs to have a use

What are your thoughts on Mimban. True it doesn't come into play in the time line until a little after the Battle of Yavin, but it does serve as an Imperial outpost. Also besides the mining towns it also has wilderness and frontier that would be good for posts. It also has those crystals that recognize force sensitivity which sounds interesting. Other than that its just a matter of whether you guys and the rest of the gang want it so hey maybe.

The thing is, even if it has an Imperial outpost, it isn't necessary, the Empire is in power after all, we can make an Imperial Outpost where ever necessary. The most important thing with choosing a planet is firstly, that it differs from other planets. We don't want countless planets that are nearly clones of each other, they need to be different in what they can offer. So that exploration of it would be interesting and unique.
The other important reason with selecting a planet is how known it is to the fans. Planets like Utapau are interesting, it is different and it is more known to the fans rather than a planet like you suggested. We know eventually people will want Endor and Hoth, well they both certainly will arrive here in time, but dependent on the timeline. And that's the thing with Alderaan, it is doomed. It only has a few years in this timeline before it is destroyed, along with characters such as Bail Organa and Queen Breha, also Captain Antilles dies also on the Tantive IV. We have to take onto account all these things that will be important.
With the recent poll for planets, we selected ones that were well known and also were different from each other and ones we already see here in the RPG. Also, what is important is what is on the planet. Is there is almost nothing, no areas to write of, then it is fairly useless. My character's homeplanet for example, Cophrigin 5, I'll never make it an actual category, it's not worth it. I'll simply leave it in the Outer Rim territory section as one thread, cause that's all that is needed, same with Kalin's character's homeplanet. It is too similar to Tatooine, so there is little point to recreate such a world.
We once had Geonosis here, when the timeline was different, but when it changed, we erased it as it had little purpose anymore.
There are many things that need to go into making a list of candidates. Whether planets or species etc

Geonosis, Mustafar. That's all I got. Plus, Mustafar would fit in grat actually. There was a droid rebellion there and the Empire had to stop it. They sent the 501st legion.

As I said in my previous post we had Geonosis once but it has little relevance in this timeline, as for Mustafar, that was one incident you spoke of. It does not need an entire category of the planet for itself. But it is still an open option though cause it differs greatly from other planets, but the question is, is it necessary and is there enough to do there.

I was thinking, if we couldn't have Endor and Hoth yet, what about Corellia? Han Solo's home world.

Well that planet has been part of a poll already, so it will always be an option for members to select from.
Amelia Rose Fitzwalter - August 11, 2007 07:57 PM (GMT)
Ah, I didn't realise that.
Jin-ho - August 16, 2007 06:46 PM (GMT)
Should i post the Star Map Project i've been working on, together with a few additional details and tweak the layout a bit etc. etc., so the members can get a rough estimate how far the planets are apart?
Kalin Thalis - August 16, 2007 07:36 PM (GMT)
yeah, you're free to post it of course
RayCaptain - August 16, 2007 10:15 PM (GMT)
well how about a couple of outpost planets? That would be a good hideout for Space Pirates and such
Kalin Thalis - August 16, 2007 11:08 PM (GMT)
I think we have enough planets for space pirates...especially a planet such as Nar Shaddaa.
