Taves' and Doren's mission was rather uneventful during the trip to Delaya. They merely stood by the diplomat's side and waited for something, anything to happen. They were so desperate they even would have gotten him a drink.
By the time they reached Delaya both Taves and Doren were glad they hadn't killed each other. "Well" said Taves as he and Doren walked behind the diplomat to the front of the ship "it looks like Antilles sent us on a real bore of a mission." "Yeah, and to think I stopped target practice for this" replied Doren.
The two walked with him until they reached another group of bodyguards who must have been their contacts on Delaya. "Well it looks like you've gotten our guest here safely" said the leader of the bodyguards. "We'll need you to come to the apartments where your next VIP is staying so you'll know where you are staying tonight. For right now we have a decent security detail guarding him so you have leave to explore the city for the day. However we need you back at the apartments by nightfall. You both are going to take the first night shift."
Taves' and Doren's spirits sank at this last comment, but they both supposed it was a neccesary task if they actually wanted to get their field training in. Though this turn of events would put a serious damper on their exploration plans.
The next morning after partying the early hours of the evening which got Taves a bit of castigation from the voice in his head, and staying up for the first watch of the night Taves and Doren woke up and sleepily escorted their diplomat to the shuttle.
Fortunately on this mission the diplomat was a little bit more demanding. When he asked Taves and Doren to get him some coffee they took the liberty of drinking half the pot before filling the diplomat's cup.
On their walk back Doren decided to break the silence. "So what did you do as a bounty hunter?" Taves understood that Doren was curious, but he was starting to get incredibly annoyed. "Look it isn't glamorous being a bounty hunter. It's a dirty line of work. I've only just recently been able to get over my inner demons from that life, so please I would ask that you don't ask about it any more." "Alright" was Doren's simple reply. The rest of the flight back was smooth sailing. Though Taves had a strange feeling he wasn't going to be rid of his old life for a while.
