Title: A Conjurer's Staff
Taves Sarfell - July 19, 2007 12:53 AM (GMT)
Taves walked into an alley where he was supposed to meet the container's owner. He knew now that this was no place an upper class would be much less be seen at. He walked deeper into the alley. He stopped to see a hooded figure standing in the alley.
Taves pulled out his pistol. "Are you Lazerus?" he asked. "I am" the figure replied. "I assume you have my package" he asked. "Ya" said Taves pointing the top of the tube toward the man (he assumed from his voice).
What happened next was unexpected to Taves. The top of the tube opened seemingly of its own accord. An object which Taves could not identify flew toward the figure. "What is that!?" said Taves. "Oh, nothing more than a conjurer's staff" said the man as a beam of blue light erupted from it "mmm yes, good to see you again old friend. You have my thanks" said the man. "Ya, well now I want answers" said Taves "What's your real name? and don't use any of that mind trick stuff Jedi. If that's what you are."

The man smiled, "I think it would be safe to assume that my name would be useless to you....... What answers could I offer you?"
The figure stepped back more into the shadows, turning off the saber.

"You're a Jedi I assume so you have knowledge of the force. I hear you Jedi find some sort of ultimate purpose in it. Well let me lay my cards on the table. I know that this thing as a bounty hunter isn't going to last forever so I figure if there's something different I might give it a try. You Jedi are supposed to take on pupils ya? Well I need someone to show me something more important. You may not want me, but I am willing to follow you. I figure it would be better for my conscience to do that then kill people for the rest of my life. But if you think I'm not ready fine I'll leave. You decide. But I don't think you want me to live the life of a Bounty Hunter either."
Taves suddenly noticed he was breathing heavily. He had never been that truthful with anyone before.

The man gave a slight laugh, but not so loud to offend,
"Young man...... What are you seeking in life?..... You are a Bounty Hunter.... Why?..... Is it for wealth?..... For glory?..... Or is it for the thrill of the hunt and the kill?....... A Jedi thinks of others before themselves...... I'm not convinced you are capable of that...."
Taves Sarfell - July 19, 2007 01:31 AM (GMT)
"Look" said Taves "to tell you the truth I did want to be a Bounty hunter for all those things at first. But now I realize that those things have just made me feel worse about myself. The money is filthy. I see now I'm not worthy of any glory, and I never really felt joy at another's demise. What I want now are two things. I want inner peace, and I want no one else to feel the oppression of the Empire as I have (he said remembering his father's death). Please!!!" Taves was glad his helmet was on otherwise the man would have seen a tear roll down his face.

"You have alot of fear in you..... Your will lies with revenge...... Those are Dark Side traits...... Not that of the Jedi..... Your desires lay with satisfying your own wishes, not that of the rest of the galaxy.... You wish to find inner peace? You must have inner peace before you can walk the path of the Jedi........."
The Jedi stood and gazed to him for a moment,
"I am going to leave you here now....... But.... I will leave you with advice..... let go of your hatred..... They will only lead to more suffering, not only for yourself, but for others........ If you truly wish to walk the light path, then it must begin now...... I will not train you...... But do not think that you are not constantly observed....... If you do good, from today onwards........ My fellows will know....... And one day, when you are free from your inner demons, someone will come to you....... If you truly want to help rid the galaxy of tyranny, then start today......."
He stepped backwards into the shadows,
"May the Force be with you...... Taves Sarfell......"
In a moment, the Jedi was gone, lost in the shadows without a trace.

It took awhile before Taves to lower his gun. "Oh ya," he said to the darkness well I'll show you I will be good" "Hold your tongue" said a voice in the back of his head. Taves snapped straight. Whatever that was he knew one thing. He wasn't going to be the same from now on, willing or not. 'Well' he thought 'I'll have to leave the ship here. I don't think the Jedi would want me stealing.' He thought it through. If he wanted to help the Galaxy he knew the people who could help. And he thought of just the person he might want to meet.

Lewy shook the beggar awake.
"Waky waky, filthy!"
The beggar grunted, and swore.
"Who are ya'," he snorted, and yawned.
He tried to shake of the sleep, and would have failed if Resei hadn't helped him shaking.
"Stop shakin' me like that, boyo! Let and ol' man get his sleep!"
Then he seemed to understand the situation. A man with a holdout-blaster and fine clothes were standing above him, trying to wake him...
"WOW, WOW, hey! Cool it! I ain't done nothin' wrong! What do you want?"
"I'm sure you've never done nothin' wrong, filthy. Information, beggar! A Clawdyte, around this tall (again a blurry move with his hand), Light Mandalorian Armour, not that I expect you to know what that is... Seen him?"
"Ah, you're not from the guard? Or the Houses? Information, eh?" He showed yellow and black teets, or atleast the three or four survivors...
"A Bounty Hunter, what? coming here with a small package?" he laughed, ending up rolling in the small pond of urin and the Force only knew what else, coughing.
"Aaargh... arhrem... Perhaps I happen to know who you're lookin' for. How much do you value this information?"
"Your life, beggar! Tell me or this holdout-blaster will teach you the definition of 'pain'."
"Well, youngster- shoot me and you'll never know what happened to your friend!"
"As if you are the only beggar on Coruscant that can tell me a fake history and demand money for it..."
"No, no, boy! My story is true! I saw it from right here! He was standing in this street, not ten metres to your right!"
"Really... Well, perhaps your story is worth more than your life. Tell me, and I will pay."
"Ok..." And so, not even complaining that he'd get the money first, the beggar told about Taves and the Jedi. Resei listened, not sure wheter to believe it or not. Then he decided.
"OK, old man. If you tell me where he was headed when he left, you will recieve a reward of 15 credits. OK?"
"What? 15 credits! Thank you, boy! I've never..." Then, with a sly expression he said:
"What? Only 15 credits? This story is worth atleast 50!"
"Where was he headed? 15 is all you'll get anyway."
"OK. He was headed towards the Westport. And wait- there is more! There is a guy in the Westport, he's employeed. He can give you a record of this guys travels if you've got the name! Truly! Ask any other beggar around the planet! His name is Torvill Martoon. Corrupt as **** for only the same lousy price I charge for this information he will tell you excactly where the man went! It won't matter if he had his own ship, this guy is pro! Only he'll charge extra if he had his own ship... What you think?"
"I think this is worth 20 credits," Resei said and smiled, handing the money to the beggar. Then he went to the Westport, leaving the beggar alone with his dreams...
