Title: Cutting off the Head of the Snake

Taves Sarfell - June 28, 2007 04:41 PM (GMT)
Taves reached the outskirts of the Tusken camp by nightfall. He sat on a cliff and observed the Raiders from a distance. "I need to find a crack in the armor of this train of sentries." This took up most of Taves time as the Tuskens had some of the greatest sentries he had ever seen in his life. Finally after a day of watching the camp he saw that during one guard change after nightfall that the path of one sentry was separated from the rest of the camp. Taves luck increased as it was one of the sentries that guarded the chief's tent. Throughout the next day Taves prepared to take out the guard.

That night he watched as the guard change he was waiting for happened. With the utmost stealth he went toward the camp. "If I do this" thought Taves "it will either be the greatest bit of luck any bounty hunter has ever had or..." Taves stopped here and realized that there could be no other explanation he could think of. With some difficulty he shaped his head into the shape of a Raider's breathing helmet, and dawned a Tusken robe he had picked up off of a dead Raider near a wrecked ship a few days ago. Bringing out his gaderffii to finish his costume he walked up toward the Raider nearby. The Raider noticed him and ran toward him seeming to realize that Taves was not from the tribe. To make sure that the Raider could not sound an alarm Taves brought down his gaderffii on its head with fatal strength. The Raider fell to the ground dead. Hoping not to attract any attention he dragged the body off a ways and continued on the guard's path.

When Taves arrived at the tent he was relieved that the other sentry mistook him for the Raider he had just killed. The other guard grunted at him for being late to which Taves replied to by ignoring him in what he hoped seemed like Tusken fashion. Taves was relieved when the other sentry returned to his work apparently believing Taves' ruse. The wait seemed like an eternity. Taves stood there trying to shake of his fear that he was in a camp of probably the most fierce beings on the planet.

Finally the other guard began to leave and motioned for Taves to do the same. Taves nodded, but stayed behind until the sentry was out of sight. He knew he only had a limited time before the next sentries arrived. Stealthily he ducked into the tent and looked for the chief whom he recognized by the staff he was leaning on as he slept. Taves slowly approached the chief prepared to finish his mission. Bringing around the hook end of his Gaderffii he plunged it into the chief's throat. Fortunately there was no noise.

Taves almost broke cover by running as fast as he could, but then remembered to take the chief's Gaderffii. Stuffing the weapon in his cloak he walked out of the tent just in time not to be seen by the new sentries. Once he was on the outskirts of camp he ran as fast as he could into the night. Leaving the cries of Tusken Raiders behind him.
