Title: The Grand Hotel

Anakin - January 19, 2007 07:49 PM (GMT)
Ryloth has a hotel that offers some luxury as there is holo communication available in each room.

Rent: 50 credits

Taves Sarfell - July 1, 2007 02:41 AM (GMT)
Taves walked into the lobby of the hotel and looked around. If there was a place to find information on this rock this was the place to find it. He walked into the public bar that was adjacent to the lobby. He walked up to the bar and looked at the barman. After getting a drink he decided to make small talk with the bartender so that he might be able to find out something. "So heard there has been some nice weather around these parts lately." "No differnent than most planets with halves locked in eternal day and night" replied the bartender. "Oh, ya" said Taves "what with the Imperial fighters falling from the sky." With these words the bartender stopped polshing the glass he was obligated with. "Well, I suppose you are looking for it." "Not really" replied Taves "Just thought it was an interesting bit of info, but if you did have any idea oh lets say where it is then that would also be an interesting bit of information." "There's word that it landed somewhere near the Rill Spider Caves, but I really never heard of the place." Taves smiled "Well it was good to talk to you. Although I would suggest you don't talk to anyone else about this. Might be detrimental to business." This was of course an empty threat, but Taves didn't want him to think that.

As Taves and his master walked through the streets of Lessu, Taves was wondering if his armor made him look too conspicuous. They walked through the streets and the market places that littered them. As they walked Taves saw the Grand Hotel and a bright neon sign caught his eye. 'Casino, Dice, Games of Chance.' The idea ran through his head. 'Considering the circumstances maybe the Force can give us the leverage we need to get a ship.' "Master I think I've found a way to get us a ship. Dice can be very easily manipulated with the Force. Perhaps we can find a player who would wager enough to get us a small ship, or better yet a ship itself. If this isn't proper forgive me for overstepping my bounds."

He looked to Taves for a moment as he pondered on his idea, "Alright, but we have to be careful.... If our trickery is detected, then we could find ourselves in very deep trouble.... Let's walk around.... See which players are sweating.... Who are the weakest of mind.... And who are offering the most...... Tell me what you can sense...." He said as he decided to use this experience as a test for Taves.

They began to walk through the rows of tables that were lined up. There were many games already being played, but which was going to be the right table for them.

Taves Sarfell - January 5, 2008 04:17 AM (GMT)
Taves allowed his consciousness to go out into the room. He felt the minds of the other players and the emotions they were feeling. This experience was new to him, and was just the slightest bit scary.

His mind first went to a table on the right. The man sitting there could be seen with a bottle of liquor next to him, and a smile of his face. However when Taves sensed his feelings he could tell that this was merely an outward ruse. He had been relying on luck the entire night and Taves could tell it hadn't paid off. He was bled dry and in great desperation. He was too happy go lucky and too easy to read to have too strong of a will. However Taves sensed in him a final trick, something that he had been hiding and seemed ready to use. Taves couldn't be sure but he felt that the only thing of that sort would be a ship or a family heirloom. Either would serve his purpose.

"Master I think I've found a man, and I have our betting chip, my armor. No man alive could resist a set of Mandalorian armor. It's the only thing we have that's as expensive as a ship besides a lightsaber, and I won't have you give up yours again."

Ayanna Nyx - January 7, 2008 12:17 AM (GMT)
"Good Taves..... Well.... Let me see what you can do... Tune yourself in to the situation.... Be mindful.... I will be with you, so if anything goes wrong I can intervene..... " He said as he looked over to the man that Taves had identified. This could be their best shot, and he was interested to see how Taves could handle the situation.....

Taves Sarfell - January 7, 2008 04:45 AM (GMT)
Taves walked up to the table with his helmet still on. It did look a little more odd, but at least this way if they were suspected the man couldn't get a positive ID on Taves. He stepped up coolly to the table. He could sense the fear that the man didn't show when he saw the figure in the Mandalorian armor walk up to the table. Taves guessed he had some debts to be paid. "What can I do for you my friend?" he asked. "Oh just give me the honor of a game of chance." Taves could feel the man's tension ease up a slight bit, but not enough to say he still wasn't suspicious. "Well I suppose we could accept a new player here."

Taves took up a seat and looked at what the man had to offer. He had only about one hundred credits left, which Taves could match before he drove up the stakes. Taves put down one hundred credits, which the man was more than willing to match, just to keep up with appearances.

The dice rolled for Taves, snake eyes. This was just what Taves had been hoping for. The dealer took Taves' money and handed it to the man. He took it with little expression on his face, but Taves could sense the greed with which he pulled in the credits. "Damn!" Taves said, angrily putting up his ruse. "My luck's been going down the drain all night." If the man was a dog his ears would have perked up with the amount of joy that Taves felt rise up in him. Now the time was right. He could sense it.

(OOC: Before I proceed would I need to learn Force Telekinesis to manipulate the dice or could it just be this little thing Taves does right here?)

Ayanna Nyx - January 9, 2008 03:16 PM (GMT)
The Jedi spoke to Taves through the Force, "Alright, your attempt was good..... Feel don't think...... Will the dice to roll as you intend..... The force provides you with an invisible hand..... We are all connected..... Even between you and the dice as it leaves your hand......... Focus........"

He easily would be able to help Taves with the dice, but he hoped that this would be a learning opportunity for him. It would help strengthen him, and also provide a good insight to the powers he could contain.

OOC: You can do it right here, from how well you do, you will gain a force skill at a first level :)

The man sitting across from Taves gave off a glint in his eyes, which was the most emotion he had shown all night. "Well" he said "maybe I can find a way to help you win back your money. How much did you say you lost?" The man said faining sympathy. "I didn't" replied Taves bringing back a gruff tone which often had served him in his bounty hunter days. "But it was upwards of 11000 credits, I'm sure of that." The man sat there. Taves could sense he was bouncing the idea back and forth in his head. Finally he spoke. "Well I happen to have acquired a GAT-12 Skipray Blastboat in a game of chance and I wonder if you have another 17000 on you, since that was the price I had settled on for it." Taves could sense the man was lying about this fact. "So, have the money on you?" "Unfortunately, no" replied Taves. "But, I do happen to have something that might interest you. Have you by chance ever owned a set of Mandalorian armor? Because that is what I offer, all the bells and whistles attached." The man's interest shot up like a firework. "All right, I'm game for that, as well as the rest of the credits you have on you." Taves knew that the Force was with him, and therefore he had nothing to fear.

Taves took the dice the dealer offered him. He saw the dice landing on a perfect seven in his head. He shook them back and forth, let them fall, and opened his eyes. He saw in dismay that they had landed on an eight. He thought he had it, but it seemed the dice had landed there of their own accord.

He thought back to his master's words "feel, don't think." He thought on this as his opponent picked up the dice. He saw him roll the dice in his hands. He felt a hand invisibly stretch through the air. He felt the dice suddenly in the grasp of his invisible hand. The man let them loose from his hand. They rolled on the table. Taves felt their momentum begin to slow. He pulled them further toward him. As they rolled he saw a picture of the dice rolling onto snake eyes flash through his mind's eye. He loosened his grip on the dice and looked at them. The dice slowly rolled onto snake eyes just as he had seen in his head.

The man stood there in disbelief. He had just bet all he had minus the two hundred he had won earlier. He looked at Taves, the ruse of no emotion gone from his face. "You, you!!!" Suddenly he stopped. Taves could tell his fear outweighed his anger. Instead he merely handed Taves a datapad that contained the deed to the ship and the activation codes. "Docking bay 78" he said, and turned around. "78" Taves said to himself. He then turned around and returned to where his master stood. He wore a blazing smile on his face that no one could see through his helmet.

Ayanna Nyx - January 10, 2008 07:46 PM (GMT)
The Jedi smiled to him, but then signalled that it was now their time to leave. They could not stay much longer, otherwise they would attract too much attention,

"I'm surprised you did that well..... You should be proud of yourself..... Lead the way..... Padawan....." He said as he continued to smile. He almost started to feel 'normal' again, that he had gained something back from the days of the Old Republic, but always he was reminded bitterly that they were long since gone.

OOC: You can now add 'Force Telekinesis Lv.1' to your skills :)
