Title: Rihanna - Rated R Album Discussion
BostonJames. - October 17, 2009 11:08 AM (GMT)
Anyone looking forward to this
I believe its a double album
and the singles out this tuesday.
I hope she pulls it off
GGGB is a big album to come off
W2K - October 17, 2009 11:54 AM (GMT)
I'm not the biggest Rihanna fan in the world, but I am actually really excited for this. Good Girl Gone Bad was a tremendous step up from everything she did previously and I hope things are about to get better.
LittleSugababe - October 17, 2009 01:27 PM (GMT)
I'm excited!!!
Hope the abum will have a lot of darker uptempo tracks, but since its Rihanna, I never know what to expect.
I'm just so increidbly happy that the Good Girl Gone Bad era is over. I felt like she was dragging it out way too long, with the re-release of GGGB and Disturbia and everything. We're finally getting an actual new album with all brandnew tracks! :D
~*!*~:Nicole:~*!*~ - October 17, 2009 06:21 PM (GMT)
I hope this album is as good as GGGB. I hope we have songs like Disturbia, Breaking Dishes, stuff like that.

BostonJames. - October 20, 2009 10:14 AM (GMT)
Clip and promo video here
http://www.rihannanow.com/Shes totally giving me Erotica and Rhythm Nation
with a modern sound.
Damn her for being so good.
The song is called Russian Roulette
So that clip could just be the intro or an interlude
Funny enough tricky gave Christina a song called Russian Roulette
but she turnt it down.
BostonJames. - October 20, 2009 02:35 PM (GMT)
Ne-Yo said the songs so good it'll make people commit suicide
If christina gave away a song that was that good
then in 60 minutes i will be commiting suicide.
BostonJames. - October 20, 2009 03:06 PM (GMT)
Taller In More Ways - October 20, 2009 03:16 PM (GMT)
Ah, the 'supposed-to-be-on-Christina's-next-album' track from Tricky Stewart...
BostonJames. - October 20, 2009 03:27 PM (GMT)
um......okay
The singles a ballad?
And its a stargate song
Must not of been Christina's then
it was abit lacklustre
should be a grower.
BostonJames. - October 20, 2009 03:30 PM (GMT)
In Denial - October 20, 2009 06:20 PM (GMT)
I really like this! I wasn't expecting much from people's comments but I actually adore it!
~*!*~:Nicole:~*!*~ - October 20, 2009 06:34 PM (GMT)
Listening to it now.
It's pretty good, not what I expected but I like it.
Rich - October 20, 2009 09:03 PM (GMT)
This is a really nice song!
I wouldn't say it was 1st single material for an artist like Rihanna, but I love it
BostonJames. - October 20, 2009 10:26 PM (GMT)
This is incredible through the ol headphones.
Keisha Beats Me - October 20, 2009 11:45 PM (GMT)
I really like the new single...and the artwork is so fierce.
LittleSugababe - October 21, 2009 04:04 AM (GMT)
Completely not what I expected!!!! :'(
Was expecting something uptempo for her FIRST single.
It's a good track, but I think she should have kept this as the third single or something. She should have released a powerful club banger :(
But oh well. Russian Roulette is good though. Very emotional. Definitely a grower.
BostonJames. - October 27, 2009 04:37 PM (GMT)
Just found the album cover knocking about

wow

BostonJames. - October 29, 2009 05:20 PM (GMT)
Its nice to see someone ripp her off well though!
Taller In More Ways - October 29, 2009 05:38 PM (GMT)
I'm not fully convinced yet. First need to see a tracklist and then hear a couple of snippets.
I know she does decent uptempo songs. But I really wonder how much 'musical growth' there is...
BostonJames. - October 29, 2009 05:45 PM (GMT)
Surely Russian Roulette is a good enough example?

Well actually not... production is rather generic. There is nothing particularly new and unexpected about it. Well, it is, but rather because it's a Ne-Yo production. And he used to produce some of the most unexciting ballads in history.
Well this one is different. Sounds decent enough, but it's not what I call musical growth.
BostonJames. - October 29, 2009 05:57 PM (GMT)
I REALLY must disagree.
The producer is an unknown (Ne-yo just wrote it)
And coming from the girl who sang Pon De Replay
A tune about murdering your lover or commiting suicide
is one HELL of a change up.
Obviously theres a few moody tracks on GGGB
but Russian Roulette seems like a really natural progression
it dosnt seem forced.
I think it completely shows musical growth
in a very natural way.
Taller In More Ways - October 29, 2009 06:17 PM (GMT)
But it doesn't sound too innovative.
I consider "Don't Stop The Music" is much more innovative soundwise.
BostonJames. - October 29, 2009 06:25 PM (GMT)
Yeah its in no way innovative
But her sound has definetly developed
Taller In More Ways - October 29, 2009 06:28 PM (GMT)
Comparing "Russian Roulette" to "Rehab" I feel "Rehab" has much more depth.
It's much more breezy but I think she captures a much more realistic view of the heartbreak situation. Me thinks...
BostonJames. - October 29, 2009 06:36 PM (GMT)
Depends if you think Heartbreak has more depth
than murder and suicide i guess.
Taller In More Ways - October 30, 2009 09:00 AM (GMT)
I think even in "Russian Roulette" she speaks metaphorically.
I don't really buy that suicidal theme. Not before I see her name in the credits AND reading a short description of the song.
Rich - October 30, 2009 02:54 PM (GMT)
It's probably metaphoric in the same vein as Unfaithful
BostonJames. - October 31, 2009 09:03 PM (GMT)
The Wait Is Ova leaked
Its not what i expected
the clip is actually misleading.
and im not 100% that this is the final version
but i think i love it!
In Denial - October 31, 2009 09:07 PM (GMT)
It's shit.
"Russian Roulette" is much better.
BostonJames. - October 31, 2009 09:09 PM (GMT)
It loses its way with the slow bit
but generally i love the vibe and the beat
really loving it now.
BostonJames. - November 2, 2009 08:40 PM (GMT)
The video for "Wait Your Turn (Wait Is Ova) " premieres tomorrow!
hilariously enough before Russian Roulette's!

BostonJames. - November 3, 2009 06:15 PM (GMT)
You can watch the
Wait Your Turn video here
http://rihannanow.com/I'm thinking this may just be a promotional single!
I'd of preferred a huge video, seeing as this is
my favorite Rihanna single along with Umbrella.
Shes doing everything right for me at the moment!
Its confirmed that
Wait Your Turn is just a promo single
HARD is the official second single.

Rihanna told the Mirror she’s proper excited about performing on The X Factor on November 29.
“I am beyond excited – it was the easiest decision I’ve ever made,” she said. “A lot of people watch the show over here on You Tube and I personally caught a lot of it when Leona Lewis was on who’s an amazing artist. So to say yes to Simon was an honour, especially as I know the show so well.”
