Sugababes Amelle Out of Leeds Gig

It is with much regret that the Sugababes have been forced to pull out of their 96.3 Radio Aire performance at Clarence Dock in Leeds this Sunday after is was revealed today that Amelle is suffering from exhaustion.

Heidi from the band apologised in a phone call this morning with JK& Joel @ Breakfast and blamed stress of recent events and exhaustion for Amelles’ absence, who is medically advised to take time away from the pressures of work. However, to show their commitment and appreciation to fans in Leeds, both Heidi and Jade will still visit Clarence Dock to meet listeners on Sunday.

After saying sorry to Leeds Heidi stressed to JK & Joel, "We don't take support for granted from our fans. We're not splitting up and we are so happy with the new line up".

The good news is that the party will still go on with a new line up of chart topping performers after 96.3 Radio Aire worked through the night to secure new acts.

Taio Cruz who held the UK Number One with ‘Break Your Heart’ will now headline the free concert. He will be supported by Gabriella Cilmi, famous for her top 5 hit ‘Sweet about Me’, as well as last year’s X Factor finalist Laura White.

96.3 Radio Aire's Station Director Anthony Gay said, "We're gutted that Sugababes won't be performing for Leeds this weekend but we've done our best at such short notice to make sure there's still a celebration for the city. We wish Amelle all the best for a speedy recovery and hope to see the full band back in Leeds soon".

Amelle will be staying at a private health clinic in Europe for the next 3 weeks where she will be able to rest and recuperate under expert supervision. She is expected to return to work in full health by the beginning of November.

The tickets for the free gig have all been snapped up with a handful remaining still to give away on 96.3 Radio Aire before Sunday.

Shows the commitment from the other babes' inspite of Amelle's absence - good to see they are going to meet the fans and I am sure they will keep in contact with Amelle and let her know how things are going.

understand that jade hasnt been in the band long enough but couldnt they try and do at least one song as a performance duo?
guess it makes up that they are still goin down if they didnt i think safe to say they would lose all the fans goin so not muchos choice

Keisha Beats Me - October 17, 2009 11:44 PM (GMT)
They go from strength to strength don't they? Amelle needs to realise to be a successful popstar you need to SHOW UP.

LittleSugababe - October 18, 2009 04:16 AM (GMT)
So weird how she got this "nervous breakdown" weeks after Keisha has left. I mean, why now? Is Keisha doing long-distance witchcraft?

If she actually expects ppl to still take them seriously, she has to SHOW UP.

First she turns off her phone where no one could get a hold of her. Now she lockes herself away in a treatment facility. It just seems like there's always one problem after another with her. Or if not her, then one of her family.

Amelle doesn't really seem to be very professional to me.
"Are you professional or not!!" I think she needs someone to shout at her like Christian Bale lmfao.

W2K - October 18, 2009 09:23 AM (GMT)
Wow, you people really have no idea. Amelle's ILL for God sake! Clearly everything that's happened has really taken it's toll. Just because Keisha's now left doesn't mean everything is now fine and dandy for her. It's not something you can just snap out of. Show some bloody compassion for a change. Oh and for the record, I'd be saying exactly the same thing if it'd happened to any member, past or present, before anyone jumps down my neck about being an Amelle stan. I know what it feels like to be in Amelle's position and believe me, if she feels anything like I felt, she needs all the support she can get.

AmelleLover26m - October 18, 2009 09:49 AM (GMT)
I think a lot of the frustration at the moment is beginning to come out of a few people and it is perfectly understandable as so much as gone on over the past month it is very hard to get heads around it.

Wayne I fully support your statement in the sense all we can do now is support Amelle and there really is no point sitting here attacking her over it and how it is effecting the bands overall image and commitment.

As far as I see it they are all commited to the cause and the fact things keep popping up atm is bound to being to piss people off as it clearly is. Being ill, espcially psychologically which is what a breakdown is after all in a sense, can take a long time to recover from and although it is unfair to suggest everyone leaps on the bandwagon and support her as some people feel bitter and resentful to what has gone on with Keisha etc, as fans we always have a choice over which side of the coin to chase.

Right now all we can do is sit and wait and prey everthing will be ok soon.

~*!*~:Nicole:~*!*~ - October 18, 2009 05:41 PM (GMT)
Just because she is ill or whatever has happened doesn't mean I'll forgive her for what happened with Keisha. I still hope she gets better soon but this won't make people forget and jump to her side again.

But why is she the one to blame for what happened to Keisha?

She might not be to blame, I'm just very angry with the whole group (her & Heidi) and the management at the moment.

Keisha's got to have some of that blame as well tbh.

I just wish we knew the truth. It annoys me how they can release a heartfelt statement for a band member being ill but nothing but a few lines for a bandmember actually leaving. No apology to the fans or anything.

Perhaps the shoot had already been done for the cover art with Keisha so Jade just had to go in and do a few shots to add to the cover! For all we know, they could of done all of the shoots for the single releases.

And I think some of the comments are so un fair. Amelle is ill. She hasn't sat down and thought "Oh, let's add some more trouble into the mix... I'll claim I have nervous exhaustion!" It's ludacris! Why can't she just be left alone to get better. As Heidi said, her health is important and if it means she is gunna be 100% in future then I don't see why we can't just give her a few weeks. It's obviously been a very traumatic time for everyone involved.
