Title: TERRIBLE albums you wouldn't recommend.
Wow! - October 3, 2009 08:04 PM (GMT)
We always talk about musicians and albums which are great and epic etc. So why don't we recommend albums that people shouldn't bother listening to. In my experience the albums which are overly successful arent that great and the albums which flop are amazing. So tell us what you think is utter shite.
Let us know whats crap so we don't waste our memory downloading it or waste our money!

Janet JacksonDamita JoI kind of feel bad for listing this album but for me personally it was an incredible let down. I remember Janet saying in a interview that she took alot of advice and tips from people in the making of this album. It's all filler and no hits. There's a couple of catchy gems but apart from that. Its pretty medicore. Songs like Damita Jo, Sexbition, Strawberry Bounce are the best songs if I had to choose.Rating: 2/5
Tori AmosThe BeekeeperI LOVE her entire back catalogue but this album is the bottom of the barrel for me. Even the whole imagery for the record is wrong. I get what she's trying to bring across to the listener but the whole album is just messy. Looking at the comments for the album most fans hate the fact she experimented with RnB etc but I'm glad she did. I love Sweet The Sting You could easily cut 5-6 songs off this album. Witness, Ireland, Hoochie Woman are just awful and even Sleeps With Butterflies is boring like the rest. I really dont rate this album.Rating: 2/5More to come....

I'm going to need a good look through my ipod
But off the top of my head.......
Ashanti - The DeclarationA stunningly dreadful album, i loved about two songs!
the rest bored me to actual TEARS!
To think it was hyped so much is CRAZY.

Agree (for once :P).
The Beekeeper is ways too long and full of children theme songs, but some of the songs I can easily imagine on one of her other studio records.
But I agree on the fact that it's her worst album to date.

AGREE!! :D
Except for the x-rated and heavy sexual The Things You Make Me Do there is no hard candy on there.

You're weird :P

I don't get the love for blackout tbh. But there are some gems on the record.
I prefer Circus slightly more but the whole circus concept has been done and dusted for a while now so when the album came out I was visually bored. I just wish she would bring out a record thats unique and the imagery being more experimental and interesting.

But that's what "Blackout" was. This dark, urban, pop album which along with the image was not what anyone was expecting.

I disagree. The sound wasn't particurly unique but it was unique compared to her back-catalogue. The imagery and the album cover was just tragic. The singles she released were good tho.
In Denial - October 4, 2009 12:35 PM (GMT)
I personally had never heard that type of music mixed together like that. I hear it alot nowadays but back then I never had.
The imagery may have been tragic but it was interesting and experimental. Britney sitting on a priest's lap.

Strange... I pretty much hated everything before that.

Urgh... by far the worst record this year!
Believe it or not, but there is NO single track on it which is above 'decent'.
Such a rush!
3/10

In no particular order:
Britney Spears - Circus
Sugababes - Change
Mutya Buena - Real Girl
Shakira - Oral Fixation Vol. 2
Beyonce - B. Day
Timbaland - Shock Value

I think Blackout was an amazing album
but Britney fans think its abit more artistic than it is
like theres some dark awful story behind it.
When all it is is a pop album
i cant explain it well, but as if its a concept album
i just think the shoot influenced alot of their opinions.
I'm not bashing you luke, i know one person who thinks blackout
is a powerful work of art that got him through hard times etc
its just all abit over dramatic.

Because of some decent tracks?

Mariah Carey - Glitter
Tragic terrible album she sounds like a strangled dog - no wonder it flopped worldwide even in the US.
Phil Colins - Face Value
Not his best, could of done better since everything before that was top notch.
All Saints - Studio One
Pains me to do this as I adore the group but SO was probably the worst comeback album I have heard. It totally shocked me how "out of sinc" it was with all their previois work.
chilln_chick2002 - October 4, 2009 08:59 PM (GMT)
Pete, I agree with you on Studio 1. The lack of William Orbit is depressing and some of the tracks like Chick Fit sound a tad desperate (i.e.: geered towards the youth).
krajol - October 4, 2009 09:02 PM (GMT)
I love Studio 1! I think its such a great album. It made me love All Saints.
