Sugababes' newest member Jade giggles through their first interview as Amelle says: 'I'm glad Keisha has gone'26th September 2009
The all-new Sugababes have been getting a few things off their chest in their first interview, and described the past week as being 'from hell'.
New member Jade Ewen joined Amelle Berrabah and Heidi Range for a chat with Scott Mills on Radio 1.
But while Heidi sounded upset as they spoke about founding member Keisha Buchanan's departure, Jade giggled through the interview.
The all-new Sugababes: Jade Ewen, Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah have their first night out together in Soho, London after their first interview as a bandAn excited-sounding Jade explained how she was brought into the group, saying 'It was all a bit crazy.
'At the end of last week I got a call and was told to be prepared... It was fun! It was exciting!'
Jade said she was picked up at her home at 5am last Friday and told she was boarding a plane to LA, but it was not until Sunday that she found out exactly what was going on.
She said she was happy to abandon her solo career and is 'focused on the group'.
'Now I'm a Sugababe, it's all glamorous,' she said.
But as the subject turned to Keisha, Amelle tried to explain but denied claims earlier this week that they kicked her out.
'It was happening for a long time,' she admitted. 'We couldn't try any more. We couldn't do any more.'
'I don't want to go too into it because I can't be a****, but basically me and Heidi got to the point where we couldn't try any more or do any more.
'We just had enough and couldn't help the situation.
'That's in the past - Jade's here and a great singer and we're just really excited. We wish Keisha all the best.'
But Heidi sounded upset as she told Scott: 'The past week's been a week from hell. It was a tough time. It just got to that point, and life's too short – you've got to be happy.
'I made the right choice morally, by siding with Amelle.'
She denied she had orchestrated the ultimatum, calling it 'completely not true' and finished by saying, 'We've got a lot of things to prove, and we're excited to get started.'
The discussion came after an interview with Amelle was published in a newspaper, where Amelle revealed her relief that Keisha had gone.
But Keisha may soon have the last laugh after discovering that R&B star Ne-Yo is desperate to work with her.
Speculation over the Sugababe split led to rumours that Keisha was bullying the other members, a claim she fiercely denies.
Today Sugababe Amelle Berrabah, 25, spoke for the first time since Keisha's shock departure on Monday.
She said she is happy in the band now that Keisha has left, revealing that tensions flared up over the past few months, but adding 'it was a long time coming'.
