THE new SUGABABES are ditching their solo careers in a bid to crack America -
with the help of JAY-Z.

The girls are so desperate to show a united front that AMELLE BERRABAH, right, and new member JADE EWEN have put their solo albums on freeze.

And to make sure the girls - who I have dubbed the Nu-Babes - hit the ground running, Jay-Z has said he will oversee their new album personally.

The band are signed to the rap mogul's record label Roc Nation. Jade said: "It's going to be wicked to do a collaboration with him. The solo stuff is going on the back burner. I'm going to focus on this opportunity."

The girls are already getting on after KEISHA BUCHANAN'S shock departure. She was in the dark about this week's line-up change but aims to bounce back with a solo career.

Jade revealed that new bandmate HEIDI RANGE slapped her bum moments after they met - in a music video they shot in LA.

She said: "I literally said hello to Heidi and the next minute she's slapping me on the a**e. We're getting on really well."

Funny, this is the first we've heard about Amelle even having a solo album TO put on freeze.

She doesn't have a solo album deal at Island. She may have a contract with Crown Music Management for a solo record but not with a label.

For instance, Mutya's solo album was entirely through Crown and we all know how that ended  .

I expect any solo plans will come out of the ice if this new lineup fail to hit the highs they are expecting. Like so many have said - this really is make or break for them now, and I think the way they handled Keisha leaving will have an impact on how people see them now.

If the music is good, Jade blends well and they chart well - they have every chance of doing well.

If it goes into a nose-dive - those solo contrats may be signed as early as next year I am betting. And I am not being negative about them cause of course I want them to do well as with Keisha to do well on her own, but being realistic about what could happen is always quite sensible.

I can't understand it. Look at the picture above of them being all "smiley" with Jade - like they've been BFFs for years.

I think it's so fake seeing as how they acted all "happy" with Keisha at the start of this era as well and now they're making her out to be an aggressive bully.

I just watched an old interview with Amelle and Keisha and they said they're probably never going to have an argument in lineup 3.0 because whenever there's a problem they just state it out plainly and work it out quickly. So what the heck happened in LA???

Now they look like BFFs with Jade, and what happens when they have a tiff and an argument in the future? They're probably going to make it sound like Jade's been a B*tch from the start even though they're CLEARLY friends now.

What upsets me the most is not that they booted Keisha out or whatever. I understand ppl argue and have their differences. What IRRITATES ME TO NO END is the way they're talking about Keisha now as if Keisha had been the "bad one" all along. But if u look at their old interviews (from the Change era) theyre all clearly close friends and Keisha and Amelle were close and partied together at night etc.

Since when was Amelle working on a solo album?
And I agree about them acting so close ^^^
