Title: Possible V1 Reunion
Description: Siobhan, Keisha and Mutya back together?
Robert - September 24, 2009 04:52 PM (GMT)
Mutya's manager has officially confirmed that she has been speaking to Siobhan and Keisha again, and a reunion of the original Sugababes could be on the cards! Mutya has been doing her best to resolve things between Siobhan and Keisha, and she'd love for them to record an album once more.
I've got to say that I'm much more excited about the prospect of the girls getting back together again than the new line-up. The way in which Keisha was simply kicked out of the band by Crown is incredibly unfair, and shows how disloyal Heidi and Amelle are. I don't mean to hate on them, but I don't think I can forgive them for the way they've treated Keisha, and let's be frank - it's not even the Sugababes anymore.
kal1ch - September 24, 2009 04:58 PM (GMT)
I really hope this happens. It would be refreshing and interesting to hear what Mutya, Siobhan & Keisha can come up with after all these years, if K & S can set their differences aside.
I've already said it elsewhere, but I'll say it here too.
The Sugababes in their current line-up are a joke, a laughing stock. Not only have they, and their management and record label shown MASSIVE disrespect to their fans AND Keisha, but they've also made it look like it's nothing out of the ordinary how Keisha was kicked out of the band..
This for me is the final nail in the coffin - Sugababes were already losing their identity at a really fast pace, and with this decision - they are no longer Sugababes. They are Sugajokes, or something along those lines.

If this happens you can throw me a blonde wig and enter me from behind.
It'd be an absolute AMAZINGGGGG thing....if they do it well.

OMG LOL! I just wetted myself reading that ahaha
I really doubt K and Sio set their differences apart but would be amazing to hear a 2010 update of "One Touch" ;)
Im up for the wig and the behind offer as well LOL :angel
Keisha Beats Me - September 24, 2009 05:07 PM (GMT)
Am I the only one who realllly doesn't care about V1? Sure, One Touch is great and all but I don't like Siobhan as she's a bitter flop who can't seem to let go. Plus their music styles are so different, how would they even sound? I just think it would be a mess.
I'm excited about Lennon/McCartney getting back together in some capacity though, even as a duo.
sugaste - September 24, 2009 05:09 PM (GMT)
Keisha made Siobhans life a "Living Hell". This should not happen!
Siobhan's solom albums are phenomonally good, she is working on another,
Robert - September 24, 2009 05:11 PM (GMT)
If things between Siobhan and Keisha can't be resolved then I'd definitely love for Mutya and Keisha to do something.

Well Kal, it appears that Keisha was stabbed in the back by Crown Music just like Mutya.
Kicking her out because she didn't fit their American image and going against their wises.
It would be interesting to see, but I doubt it would happen. Siobhan comes across as completely bitter and borderline delusional with suggestions that she is on the same level as Bat's For Lashes and Florence + The Machines.
A duo of Mutya + Siobhan or Keisha + Mutya is more likely. Either way I would prefer that or a reunion instead of the slags that are taking their name.
PS: Someone needs to ask Mutya and Keisha about that. Did these bitches really sign away their groups name to Crown Music? If so than their dumb as hell!

They probably did seeing as they were young when they started out.

They were under 2 different managements.
Metamorphasis (with AWDF & Three) and then with Crown Music (TIMW, Change and C+S).

Robert - September 24, 2009 05:29 PM (GMT)
I hate Crown with a passion. Not only did they wreck Mutya's solo career with their half-arsed attempts to launch her as an artist, but now they've completely ruined the Sugababes, and more importantly, Keisha. It's no wonder they never have the decency to respond to my e-mails - they know how wrong they are.

I'm pretty sure that Metaphormasis was the management that introduced Mutya and Keisha to Island after they were dropped by London. Can someone vary this? I lost my One Touch album sleave.
Anyways, under that regime they had complete freedom, held auditions and no backstabbing .
kal1ch - September 24, 2009 05:38 PM (GMT)
Suddenly it all makes sense now.
As soon as Sugababes signed with Crown Music, they became these polished smiley ladies doing polished pop music. Crown wanted them to be a disposeable pop group from the very start. When Mutya left, they were halfway there - Amelle happily did anything they made her do, and now that they've kicked Keisha out... they're probably really happy about themselves.
I hope this new line-up flops worse than Siobhan's "Revolution In Me" project, that would honestly make my year.
chilln_chick2002 - September 24, 2009 05:46 PM (GMT)
I'm not going to lie I began to hate the Sugababes when TIMW was released.
As some of you know, I'm a massive, massive fan of Three (their best album) and the rawness of AWDF (though it was inconsistent), but it was THEM.
TIMW is just too polished for my liking and only adore 4 songs (PTB, Ace Reject, Bruised and 2 Hearts) with IAE being good but too repetative. Seriously, it was like they bitch slapped me across my face.
How can you follow up Three with meaningless shit!
BostonJames. - September 24, 2009 05:47 PM (GMT)
Wow! yeah
This explains SO much
i always wandered what happened between Three and TIMW
they literally became a new band.
It all went into overload when Amelle joined
So Mutya must of been holding onto the old sugababes.

Yeah, Mutya recorded TIMW so don't credit Amelle with anything.
Keisha and Mutya have themselves to blame for switching managements. One clearly had their best interest at heart while the other only saw $$$ signs before they sabatoged one and stabbed the other in the back.
In that sense they displayed a lack of loyalty (let's not forget they ditch Richard X after he put them back on the map)!
Damn, karma truely is a bitch.
thisismethen - September 24, 2009 05:57 PM (GMT)
The part that makes me the happiest is Mutya and Keisha talking, I don't know why but it just makes it seem like real friends can come back together even after a lot happens.
It be cool to have the original girls but what the heck wud they be called? Pretty sure legally crown owns the sugababes name....so what wuld they be? The origibabes? Suganals? Maybe call themselves "One Touch" and their first album is "Real Ghosts" or "Revolution in girl" lol who knows.
I love everyons voices but honestly I see why it be hard for any babe (formers and original) to have a solo career. I get a bit tired of constanly hearing the same voice, that's why I loved how (for the most part) balanced the albums were! I especially loved songs with interchanging lines where all girls sang diff parts of one verse (too lost in you for example)
Oh well!
AmelleLover26m - September 24, 2009 06:01 PM (GMT)
I love the concept of the idea and it would be great if it could happen.
There is however one problem ( technically ) that could arrise.
That is the fans would be totally divided over what they choose to support - one side in favor of the revised and updated V1 of the Sugababes - and the other half following the new V4 of the band.
This however is not a massive problem, as a fan in support of one would never strongly intently dis-like or stop following the other.
And another side to my quite feeble argument is double sales from a fan of both sides of the coin.
It would be the "Sugababes/Suga-babies" all over again :P
We will have to see I guess - but at this moment I do feel Keisha will want to concentrate on doing well on her own, unless however all this takes over the next few weeks/months.
marac20 - September 24, 2009 06:02 PM (GMT)
thats the best news. that will be the best thing 4 old sugas fans. :mutya: :keisha: go babes

Wow! - September 24, 2009 06:12 PM (GMT)
Even tho this is amazing news. I doubt it will happen. Siobhan in the recent interview still seemed pretty pissed at Keisha. I don't think Siobhan will want to go back to the sugababes thing. She even said herself that the sugababes was like a stepping stone for her.
marac20 - September 24, 2009 06:17 PM (GMT)
she maybe only did this coz if she want to be in music bussiness it's her only chance, she did make very good albums, but no label wants her to sign her right now.
HeidiLoving - September 24, 2009 06:33 PM (GMT)
I don't think Siobhan will agree with the idea of a comeback of the original sugababes. She seems like a very complicated person who won't ever forget keisha what she has done to her.
By the way, now that you've mentioned that they switched the management between "three" and "timw" i have a feeling that mutya only quit because she didn't want to be a puppet. she was just not satisfied with the new word of the sugababes. e.g. she hated "red dress".
rmssw - September 24, 2009 08:44 PM (GMT)
It's a nice idea but it will never happen. Siobhan not only hasn't forgiven Keisha, she's still bitter about it. It's quite pathetic, actually. I mean, as recently as last week, she was STILL saying how horrible Keisha is. Perhaps Keisha was a horrid bitch to her...we'll never know the truth...but it's been almost nine years...get over it. Personally, I'm not a big supporter of Siobhan as a Sugababe. She never wanted to be there in the first place. She left the band without warning and without regard to their feelings. She was selfish and brought the band down. Luckily, they found Heidi and came back better than they ever could have been with Siobhan. Frankly, Siobhan doesn't really deserve to be called a Sugababe anymore...she doesn't think of herself as one, so why should we? The new line-up deserves the name more than she does.
So, yeah...never gonna happen. However, I would love it if Mutya and Keisha did something as a duo or even if they found a new girl for a new trio.
One thing I think people have to realize is that no matter what they do together, they WON'T be the Sugababes. They won't be able to sing Sugababes music or associate themselves in any way with the Sugababes. The Sugababes are Heidi, Amelle, and Jade now and I'm sure they have a whole swarm of lawyers ensuring it stays that way.
NuVirGuy - September 24, 2009 09:44 PM (GMT)
Well, I would be really pleased if this reunion would be called 'Sugawomen' ))) :D :D :D
usu - September 24, 2009 10:30 PM (GMT)
I think this is ridiculous. They've made their choice by leaving the band.
It's like "oooohh let's make a revenge! They're not the real Sugababes!"
Heidi is a Sugababe, and so do Amelle and Jade.
What people are thinking? - when Heidi joined the band, Keisha a Mutya said: "ok, we're gonna let you in, but just to fill the empty place... you're not a real Sugababe." --> wtf?
Some people, and specially MUTYA, need to get over this.
Keisha just kicked herself out of the band. She made her choice. She has created this whole situation. And i think that she's a good player, because she made almost everyone do not accept this new line up.
I hope that the Sugababes 4.0 break the US, then some people will stop complaining.

sam998899 - September 24, 2009 11:56 PM (GMT)
ahhhhhh!
I've always wodered why Taller In More Ways sounds so different to AWDF and Three.
Now I know..
Three was amazinng. Taller In More Ways was just pure pop except for a couple tracks, but it was a still good album, although the only ones I can listen to now are Ace Reject, PTB and Ugly.
rmssw - September 25, 2009 02:38 AM (GMT)
I just had a funny thought...
What if they DID reunite, but then Siobhan left again and they had to replace her? What if we ended up with the exact same situation and then 10 years from now, we'll have ANOTHER girl group full of replacements for ex-Sugababes?
Again, this 1.0 reunion seems like a nice idea, but I just don't think it would EVER work...

I can't say anything on whether Keisha got money or if it was Amelle or Heidi wanting her out as that was all done through Crown. The label had nothing to do with that. It was Crown who kicked Keisha out and Crown who put Jade in.
The members are signed to Crown, Island have no jurisdiction over them. Island merely look after 'Sugababes' in however Crown supply the group to them. Yes, Island can have some say over things but final decisions are down to management.
So any other questions now that's cleared up?
|
Question about Island
| QUOTE |
That's interesting. So are the girls signed individually to Island? I'm just thinking how Keisha immediately came out of this with a solo deal, if her sacking had nothing to do with the label. Do you see what I'm saying?
|
Breakfast2 reply
| QUOTE |
Girls signed individually? No the 'Sugababes' are signed to Island. None of the girls are individually signed except for Keisha right now.
Since Crown made their intentions clear to Island that they were going to take Keisha out the group, Island bagged her up for a solo deal. That's not hard to understand?
|
Same case with Mutya, only difference is that she left on her own terms - thus sticking with Crown Music and without a label. I remember Mutya saying on myspace that her deal with Island was unexpected (which never made sense until now because I assumed that Vol. 2 were signed to Island).
Island snapping up Keisha as quickly as they did, further suggests that they support her and not Crown's decision. Her six figure buyout isn't Island related at all, doesn't stop her from talking to the papers and leaves her management less. It's for the current royalties from Sour 7 and the brand.
It's seems that Keisha and Mutya did sell their rights to Sugababes name to Crown Music - therefore, they receive royalties from the brands numerous deals. In short Mutya and Keisha won't be needing to collect welfare cheques anytime soon B).
Lastly, this news puts to rest claims made by Amelle's family that she has a solo deal.
LittleSugababe - September 25, 2009 06:32 AM (GMT)
OK people who are opposed to a possible reunion are INSANE.
Siobhan, Mutya, and Keisha ARE the Sugababes!
Heidi, Amelle, and Jade are just "shadows of what used to be" :P
What if Heidi, Amelle, and Jade all quit and three new girls join the band... Do you honestly think theyre still worthy to be called "Sugababes"?? Puh-leaze!!
Siobhan's recent interview sounds so fake. Siobhan would never say that after all these years. Im sure she's over it.
And since Mutya clearly wants to form a new band, I dont think Keisha would be opposed bcos she probably still wants to do music. Siobhan might see this as a great opportunity so who knows?
And if they DID ever reform, Amelle Heidi and Jade are RUINED. :devil

See I don't think that would happen again. They are far maturer now, and they wouldn't get back together unless they really wanted to.

I'm not opposed to the idea. However, if it's only out of spite for the new line-up and an attempt to one-up them, then I think that's petty, bitchy, and confirms the fact that it was Keisha, Mutya, and Siobhan who were the troublemakers in the band all along.
I just don't think it will ever work...for the same reasons that they didn't work as the Sugababes. They each had reasons for leaving or being fired. Mature or not, some formulas simply don't work and I think 1.0 version 2 is doomed to failure before it even starts. And that's making the HUGE assumption that Siobhan would EVER agree to do it in the first place.
Plus, why would Keisha even want to do it? She's in a fantastic position right now. Every man, woman, and child in England is rooting for her at the moment. If she came out with new solo material, it would be massive. Why would she want to tie herself down to another band with the SAME people with whom she had issues in the past? It would be a big step back for her. She may be a bully and a bitch, but I really doubt she's stupid.
LittleSugababe - September 25, 2009 10:56 AM (GMT)
Keisha n Mutya hav been friends since they were little, so Im sure both of them wud b glad to team up again. As for a reunion with Siobhan, it wud b a HUGE comeback for all three of them, which is actually good for Keisha's career, as well as Siobhan's and Mut's.
It will be THE topic of the year if it happens.
And Keisha didnt hav problems wit Mut. Mut left cos of the baby, she didnt come on time for work, etc and ultimately needed a break.
Siobhan and Keisha had their problems, but they were 12 yrs old when they formed the band, of course there wud b arguments and keisha said that their parents were heavily involved then and calling the shots. Its different now.
Theyve all grown, matured, evolved musically and personally and professionally...
If they DO end up fighting, im sure it wont be bcos of the same reasons they fought back then.
I SUPPORT THE REUNION, CANT WAIT!!!!

There is no way the reunion would be out of spite. For one, Mutya only does things that she wants to do. She doesn't like to follow the trend (e.g. Red Dress), and neither does Siobhan, hence the style of music she releases. I think it's actually very unfortunate the way the band started out. They were all so young and things clearly turned nasty. This would be the perfect opportunity for three young women to give it a proper shot without silly and immature issues getting in the way.
As for Keisha going solo, yes everyone seems to feel sorry for her because it is very unfair what happened, but soon they'll be over it and embracing the new Sugababes lineup: sad as it is. She'll need to choose the right material to make a proper debut, and it'll need to be exceptional for her to be a massive success. I'm sorry if I seem to be really negative, it's just I know what happened with Mutya - despite the fact that she has an amazing voice. Island (and Crown, although I doubt Keisha will sign with them) always seem to mess it up, whether it's lack of promotion or the wrong direction musically.

Some dishearting news:
apparently Keisha is working with Ne-Yo for her solo album.
