Amelle Berrabah has left the Sugababes, heatworld has just been told – and she is set to be replaced by singer Jade Ewen. Rumours that Amelle was quitting have been circulating all week, but just a few minutes ago an industry insider told us exclusively, "I've been told off the record that Jade is joining the Sugababes." Jade Ewen's record label Geffen sent an official statement out just a few minutes ago which read, "Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, we regret to inform you that Jade Ewen will be taking time off from all promotional activity for the foreseeable future." Amelle has yet to release a statement confirming the news, but we will bring you any updates on this story as soon as we have them.

That's funny...I guess it's actually JADE who's in LA at this very second filming the video for About A Girl. Good to see the British tabloid media is staying at the top of their game.

If you think you recognise Jade Ewen, it's probably because she competed at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest representing Britain. She was born in London, and is just 21 years old. We think she looks rather glam and very Sugababe-like in this shot.

OK, so we’ve just spoken to a second industry insider and they have refused to deny the rumours. The official line at the moment is “no comment”. If there was zero truth to the rumours, then believe us, we would’ve been told by now. What I regret the most is that this whole Sweet 7 era is going to be marred by these damn tabloid stories. About A Girl is a brilliant song and its release is being overshadowed by bullshit stories like this.

I'm freaking out lol. If Amelle has gone. Then shes stupid. As much as I like her and she has a great voice. Her having a solo career after the babes is very unlikely. Mutya is talented and look at what happened to her. Wouldnt it be so funny if mutya came back into the group?

Well, I just thought its just another tabloid writing what they want. Then...I stil dont believe that but even if it was true , ti be honest, I'd be very hapy with that replacement :P Jade is such an amazing singer.

The official Geffen comment stated in the Heatworld article is correct though.

I don't believe this is real at all. It is heat afterall. They talk the biggest load of shit.

But as if they would replace Amelle with Jade. No offence to Jade, but she's hardly a great talent. With Jade, the Babes would fail. End off. I'm calling bullshit on this story and hope it's resolved quickly.

I think Jade is pretty talented actually. Jade's image is very young tho tbh. Keisha and Heidi have quite a grown up image now. So I don't see them matching on reflection.

If this is true, they should just ask Mutya back. I'm not a fan of Jade Ewen and would honestly dump them if she were recruited.

A duo, I would might, but would be pissed as hell if they recuited someone other than Mutya.

Quite hard to know what to make of this really - it could be ballshit it may not be, They have not stated a source, neither Island or Amelle have publically stated anything is going array.

For now I would assume all is ok and all this is, is a pathetic rumor from the random mill.

If anything is made offical - we will hear about it sooner or later - going on "a source close" means nothing - that could be ketchup or bbq for all we care.

I think its pretty much confrimed now. Amelle has left. Heatworld are really realible guys. Though the Jade thing is shaky. Heat just could of saw the news on Jade and put two and two together.

Heidi and Keisha have got to know that their 'brand' wouldn't be able to survive another line-up change. Someone should seriously Tweet all the members to see what is going on.

Well the person who heard it from Radio 1 just revealed that they never said it wasn't confirmed.

That actually makes me feel a bit better. That clearly shows how serious they are taking the rumours.

I can't stand the lack of confirmation or denial. I'm going to be in counselling for WEEKS after this. <_<
