As we are fast approaching a new Sugababes era - I thought it would be prominant to discuss what went wrong overall with the last one.

If you dis-regaurd the two singles cd format releases for Girls ( awful art work ) and NCD ( deserved better recongnition ) I am going to base this purly on the album in general.

I have to start by saying I 100% can still not, to this day, understand why it flopped ( ok it charted #8 but it fell out quicker than a rock ) because I regauard it personally as one of their strongest peices of work. It rivals Three and AWDF not perhaps in song quality, but it certainly matches it in the sense it was less poppy then TIMW and Change. It had some awsome songs -You On A Good Day would of made a cracking single as would of Every Heart Broken.. and we all know how much we all grew so close to Can We Call A Truce - pure magic.

Klas certainly proved he was a great producer, and their work mainly with him on the album rose above most of the others. Every song bar perhaps Hanging on a star and Girls had a dark mature edge.

This, for me, is what made the album so bloody good. It was just what I wanted them to do - step away from Xenomania and all the poppy stuff ( granted I love TIMW for its take on both genres ) and do somthing mystical, dark, edgy and raw. I cannot put my finger on why the general non-fanbase public grew to dislike it so much. Ok Girls was a terrible choice as a comback song - you do not do a cover as a masive album seller single - but it did chart well considering the overall hatred surrounding it.

There is deffinatly somthing missing though - and I think we will never know the real reason why the album did not sell as well as others before it. Still, I regaurd it highly as one of my all time faveouite babes albums.

I am interested to hear your thoughts.

Why are we still busy with the C&S album Pete. It's over. We can't change the chart peaks etc.

Just get over it. It was a amazing album but it hadn't got that Sugababes thing.
There's a new era now, and I am looking foward to that .. the past is the past ;)

Mylan, don't slate him, he's only just expressing an opinion. Everyone knows that C&S was a strong piece in its own way with the soulful sound it had, but maybe you could just say that around the time it was released everyone was moderately intrested in pop once more & none of the R&B sound that Duffy & Amy Winehouse had brought back in.

& yes Mylan, it is another era that we are looking forward to, but we just don't wanna see the demise of this album like what happened to C&S, that's all.

I think the problem was that Girls just wasn't a good enough song for a lead single. When I first heard it, I didn't get that "feeling" I got with About You Now. It's not an amazing song by any means. It didn't chart well compared to other lead singles. I think people were put off buying the album because of it. Keisha also said that they got complacent. I totally agree with that. Unfortunately the styling of the era wasn't amazing by any stretch of the imagination. Coupled with a not-so-good first single, it didn't really scream "success".

The album itself is amazing. Well written, well produced, well sung songs (all except for one or two). It's a shame that things had to be the way they were.

Great album, just not what people wanted or expected from Sugababes I guess!

I really can't understand why at all
C&S is my favourite Sugababes album and was epic <3
I remember going into the music shop the day it was released and buying my copy at like half six in the evening and the woman was like "Wow, you're the first person to buy this today!"
So, I gues,s even from it's first day of release it didn't seem to be doing to well... In Ireland anyway.
I just wish it was more succesful. Such a great album
