Title: Mutya Anticipation!
Description: Suggestions For Mut Fans!
blaketat - July 9, 2008 02:00 PM (GMT)
Since there is no absolute clue on which direction Mutya is dabbling in for album 2, i thought it would be nice to have a topic what we want to hear Mutya sing, and what not to sing.
:)
~ Want more upbeat tracks
~ Have a really POP-POP song on there
~ Dabble into EUROPOP
~ Rap, not B-Boy's Rapping, hard out rapping
~ Collaborations with fresh artists. (Not washed-out Groove Armada)
~ More Harmonic Songs (Its Not Easy-ish)
But Either Way Any Mutya Song Is Good To Me
:)

I just typed up a big post with my thoughts there and the bloody forum randomly refreshed! Anyway, I'll do it again. Nice idea to create a topic for this Blake! :)
Basically, Mutya should work with Xenomania again. She just goes so well with them - they even said she was the best writer of the band! I don't think she will though, because she hates Red Dress and I'm sure she'd have worked with them already if she wanted to. Still, I remain positive that she will. They could stay away from the pop side of things, and do something in the direction of Situation's Heavy, or Ace Reject. To be honest though, I'd love to hear her do something really pop, even if it has a bit of edge like In The Middle. There's no denying the likes of Hole In The Head, and Round Round are pure brilliance, and she had a fair bit of input into those tracks so she can do it again!
I'd also like her to do some producing again, like she did with My Love Story (even though I'm not keen on that track at all - Greg Kurstin should have did something like Wow) and Million Different Ways, as she clearly has a talent in that side of the music too.
All in all, she needs to go upbeat with this record. She's had the slower style for Real Girl: now it's time to go urban and fun. Stuff like Heat, Not Your Baby, To The Limit and Darkside are just what she needs to be a massive success with her second album. Maybe she could even do some tracks with Dallas Austin and Richard X.

Yeah Mutya was the main thing in the tracks as round round , freak like me , in the middle , hole in the head,...She can do it again , and she can do a bit AWDF/One Touch orientated tracks ,...As long as it's pop/r&b/Mutya at it's best :D

I love Mutya so I will contribute to this thread.
Mutya doesn’t seem to like pop very much so I doubt she will do Euro-pop (thank God). Her relationship with Xenomania is very one sided with them constantly praising her vocals (not writing Robert that was Keisha) while she doesn’t appreciate their dedication to ‘pure pop’. I think if she were to re-team up with them the final product would be MASSIVE.
This is largely down to the fact that she would direct them to produce more RnB influenced tracks (i.e.: Who) – thus forcing them out of their comfort zone. Currently Xenomania have pretty much settled in the pop scene as oppose to pushing the boundaries.
Richard X, Cee-lo, William Orbit and Raphael Saadiq (produced Glow for Kelis) would also give her the cutting edge that is currently lacking in RnB (quality wise the genre has taken a MAJOR drop since 2003). I just simply can not
bare to watch where it is heading at the moment. Aside from Kelis, Keyshia Cole, Trey Songz and Amerie I have given up.
However, I cannot wait to find out more about her 2nd album and the direction that she will take.

I Actually think that she should definately do something with P.Diddy's producers, like Bryan Cox, or any that have produced Danity Kane's newest material.
I dont want anything that isnt an international sound, like a song that only sounds like UK Bashment....EUGH.
But i have been thinking about Mutya constantly for weeks and i just cannot wait.
Thanks Robert ;)

I'd like her to do some electro/dance like Song 4 Mutya too - I forgot to mention that! Something like She's Just A Remix would be great too, but it has to at least some form of pop on it, like Real Girl did with Not Your Baby, B-Boy Baby, etc.
As much as I want completely fresh material, I'd be VERY happy if she put a few of the rejects on the record, like Heat (which is AMAZING from the clip), Not A Love Song and If We're Ever Gonna Be. Those tracks would go down a storm with the public, I can tell!
Oh, and thanks for correcting me about the Xeonomania thing. I knew they praised her for something!

Mutya ft. Missy Elliot :D

This girl has disappointed me again. Apparently she is working on Real Girl Productions. I think its a reach out program for the youth in London (cuz of all the stabbings and violence).
Anyways she got me all hyped up for her 2nd album (she was recording and writing) and suddenly she drops everything for this. And why is she still plugging that horrible album. Mutya your better than this and please get your act together and return to the music scene properly :'(.
SugNet - Missy Eliott has been shit for years. I don't want that cow draging Mutya down. Maybe on productionsbut rapping the woman has fallen hard and without a parachute.

I think it is nice that Mutya is doing somthing nice for the London Youth community, and its all over news recently the stabbings and the way gangs have built up in London.
But yes I agree she needs to return to the music scene soon and perhaps she is doing that inbetween this programme.
We will have to see what the overall outcome is. The flip side to doing this support thing is you earn respect from people, and thats always a massive building block for any relationship within any industry.

I have to say I'm very proud of Mutya for setting up her own production team, but I'd rather she concentrate on her second album. She has always said she wants her own record label, so maybe this is the beginning of that dream? I know she can do it, but I just want her to get back out there with amazing new material, which is possible now that she's ditched the amazingly shit Island Records.
Mutya did tell Kal though that she's hoping to get in the studio to do more tracks soon, so I suppose we can be excited about that. :)
