Title: Hollow
Description: Listen to a clip!

Robert - May 25, 2008 09:23 PM (GMT)
Check out Mutya Mania now for a clip of Hollow (a Real Girl reject) sung by a session singer. It's actually a Britney reject too, and you can hear it here.

:)

That was good.. odd how some of the best songs are not placed on albums these days... the people do make some strange choices, I think fans should get an input too.

I completely agree with you Pete. ^

Island (yes it was Island who made the final album tracklist before anyone tries to tell me they didn't) made some really messed up decisions with Real Girl. I don't know how they were trying to portray her, but it clearly didn't work. They should have let her go down the upbeat/urban route, 'cos stuff like Addiction, Not A Love Song, Darkside, To The Limit and Heat have the potential to be strong hits.

Hollow would have been the perfect ballad for the album too, but I must say that Wonderful is one of my favourites, and I'm not keen on having too many ballads, so maybe this could be used on the next record, as much as I doubt it.

I think all of the old demos and rejects will never be released, because Mutya probably wants to start completely fresh, which is sad, but good at the same time.

That can work both ways.

Some artists who like to live in the past can get caught up in what they know well and never produce anything fresh and new.

Fans of any artisit will eventually want to see a new direction taken, and for them to take a "risk" with somthing inventive.

Girls Aloud are a good example of this, as much as some of their songs are catchy and Xenomania are an excellent production team they need to branch out away and try somthing raw.

Mutya on the other hand knows her audience well enough, she was part of the most sucessful girl group this century so she knows where her strenghs lie in her ony ability. If she is let lose to go full steam ahead on her new material, as well as re-inventing the wheel for her older hits, she will have the foundations of an amazing album.

Mutya doesn't really go for one direction... Real Girl is really varied, and she told me album 2 will be too.

Robert - May 26, 2008 01:41 PM (GMT)
Sugababes have always been varied (especially when Mutya was in the band), and Mutya is too, but I just feel that Real Girl could have been something much more than it was. I adore the album, because tracks like Suffer For Love, Real Girl, It's Not Easy, B-Boy Baby and Not Your Baby are masterpieces, but Addiction and Heat should have been on it at the least. I don't get why they totaly watered Paperbag down either, as the demo mix had something special about it, and Strung Out didn't turn out too well in my opinion (and Mutya's too, since she said she didn't like the new beat) either - the other version was so much more exciting, not that the album version is that bad though.

Basically, what's done is done and we can only look ahead now, but what I'm saying is that Mutya is varied, and she's into all different styles of music - it's just that we need more upbeat stuff to get her noticed again! :)

The song sounds very good. It should have been on the album or at least on the next one.

What the hell was Island thinking when they rejected this track? I love it to bits and thanks Robert. Its E-P-I-C.

It would have been a great single for Mutya imo way better than JAB.

OMG
I kneeeew it was Do, I knew I had recognized her voice!
This girl is really good, and yeah "Heaven" (well, the Candlelight Mix at least) is just breathtaking. Too bad those kind of songs only get popular when released with some electro beat (cfr. Cascada)...

Id love to hear Mutya with such a track ^^
I want some new Mutyaness ;)
