sugamel - January 26, 2008 06:42 AM (GMT)
have u guys noticed that her myspace page full with some islamic recite?
noticed that her myspace name always end with one of the recite.
i text her asking is she like a muslim now? and she reply back with one single word: "converting".
do u think she's really into it? what's her religion before?

She was raised Catholic, & yeah, now she's converting to Muslim. When I asked her why she's doing it she only sayd 'change of life' so I guess she just wants to lead a better life & that will help her..

Do You Think She'll Remove The "ONLY GOD CAN JUDGE ME" Tattoo?
I Really Don't See How Changing Beliefs, Changes Life.
But I Guess You Really Got to be religious to understand, as i am not.

Will she wear a niqab or hijab then? I can't imagine that! lol.

A change of beleifs can affect a persons life. You follow a new path and take different actions dependant on the circumstances to what you may of done previously. It is a bold move but she obviously feels she has reached the point in her life to make a change, and also the person changing must be in the right frame of mind, it is not somthing that is done overnight.

Maybe she thinks allah will help her to break her next single into the charts :P

I don't understand as she's always been Christian and thanked God for things in album thank yous etc. It's strange how she can just suddenly decide she doesn't believe that any more... I know Allah and God are the same thing when it comes down to it though.. but still.

Perhaps her boyfriend is Muslim and wants her to convert?

Either way it doesn't really matter, as long as she is happy! Although I really can't imagine her becoming 100% Muslim... it'd probably make her career difficult.

Yeah I was thinking something like that! Ooooh a Mutya wedding! :)

lio - January 27, 2008 04:34 PM (GMT)
yeah it really could be even though she said that she doesnt want to marry soon but she could have changed her mind for some reason

I don't think it has anything to do with marriage cuz Mutya herself said she doesn't see herself ever getting married but being in a committed relationship. WHo knows she may change her mind.

I don't think this is a sudden thing for her because covertions take alot of time and devotion if the individual is really serious. For those that want to know if a male is Muslim his partner really isnt required to convert because the children are suppose to take his religion but it is definately preferred if the woman converts. However for a woman to marry her partner MUST convert. I got all this information form my Muslim friends when I was in highschool (and no, I am not old).

If she has a Christian name she must change it as well, remove her tatoos and she doesn't necesarily have to wear the head wrap (I know the technical name for it but I cant spell it so why bother). There are tons of Muslim girls that I know that are really religious and don't wear it and they truely believe that deciding to wear it should not be taken lightly. The removal of it is suppose to be one of the ultimate sins. Parents sometimes force their daughters to wear it (happened to a friend of mine) and many religious figures say its wrong because it must be the daughters decision.

Anyways isn't Mutya's boyfriend Jamacian? If so they are like 90% Christian so I doubt she would just do it to please him. She doesn't come across as that kind of girl. Just my two cents on the subject.

is she muslim now???

kal1ch - January 7, 2009 03:07 AM (GMT)
No, she gave up on it. She's Catholic (or was it Christian?) again.
