Title: SUGABABES - Change - Single
Description: Released: 17 December
London - November 1, 2007 11:42 AM (GMT)
I thought we should make an other topic discussing the releases of Change CD Single rather than speaking of it in random topics, if not then I wont mind this topic going to be locked or anything, just thought it would order things better.
What do you all think about this song? What is your favourite part? What do you think the music video would be like? What B-Sides do you think we would see or hope you will hear?
thisismethen - November 1, 2007 11:53 AM (GMT)
I think it's a great song, but lots of better choices for a 2nd single. Either way, I really like near the end when Keisha/Amelle are adlibing and Amelle goes ooooh, change, change. lol I just like her voice at that part.
Haven't thought of a video yet, hopefully they film it soon and start some promo for it Middle November
krajol - November 1, 2007 12:14 PM (GMT)
I think the best part is when Amelle sings: But sometimes I just can't, I just don't understand :)
London - November 1, 2007 12:25 PM (GMT)
Amelle really does show how strong her great voice is in this song, especially her adlibs in the end are so good!
AmelleLover26m - November 1, 2007 05:50 PM (GMT)
I have said this on a number of other threads but I think I speak for us all when we would like a nice xmasy vid :P
Clementine - November 1, 2007 05:53 PM (GMT)
Yeah, and I'd also like some sort of a story line, not just them looking gorgeous.. But I'm sure it'll be great! :)
~*!*~:Nicole:~*!*~ - November 1, 2007 05:56 PM (GMT)
No black and white boring video, please. Ha.
AmelleLover26m - November 1, 2007 06:14 PM (GMT)
The only black and white vids they have done is Caught in a moment and parts of new year were black and white imagry. But Im sure it will be colour :P
HeidiLoving - November 1, 2007 06:29 PM (GMT)
At first I was very disappointed by "Change", but now I love it. I can also see it doing well as single, but not in the Christmas week. It may miss top10.
For the video i'm hoping they will concentrate on themselves, not on any other people like they did in "ugly" or "about you now".
AmelleLover26m - November 1, 2007 07:12 PM (GMT)
I think it will make the top 10 personally but we all know how competitive the xmas music market is. Its certainly going to be very exciting.
Wow! - November 1, 2007 07:17 PM (GMT)
I Reckon Top 10 Too. Its A Good Song But NGDA As A Second Single Would Be Awesome.
AmelleLover26m - November 1, 2007 07:37 PM (GMT)
Really hoping that will be the third single. There have been a few rumors it will be.
But Change does have a wintery feel, perfect time of the year to release it.
London - November 1, 2007 08:04 PM (GMT)
As much as I love SG, I have to say that their debut comeback single is incredibly weak. I mean I know that they are releasing a ballad around the time of Crimbo, but it is the comeback of the lifetime and we need to hear a more Pop song, I dont think there going to do great here with this single.
AmelleLover26m - November 1, 2007 08:21 PM (GMT)
London did you post this in the wrong thread? I think this should of been in the Spice Girls thread :P
charmed247 - November 1, 2007 09:07 PM (GMT)
I think the song will do pretty well during Christmas time. If they wanted to release this as a single, this would be the only time of year that I would want them to release it. No more summer ballads please!
AmelleLover26m - November 1, 2007 10:56 PM (GMT)
Well if NGDA is next after Change then that is certainly a uptempo song, even if it does have a rather depressing theme. That will storm the charts. Change will do very well. The most unpredicatable chart is the festive season. :P

After the FLOP that was FMH I doubt theyll do that same mistake again. I dont understand why SB release so many slow songs. None of them have done exceptionally well. Stronger was the most successful one but that still only got to #7.
Osiris - November 2, 2007 01:00 AM (GMT)
Ugly was mid-tempo and got to #3.
Too Lost In You only got to #10 but sold over 100k. Just like Stronger. Which is better than a lot of their uptempo singles.
London - November 2, 2007 03:03 AM (GMT)
Actually Pete I was trying to have it compared with the new SG single, people were saying to me that they were afraid the babes wont do that great cause their Christmas single is to be released as well, but "Change" beats their "comeback" single overall, even if I hate to say this, they could have come with much better ballad than "Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)" I have a positive feeling that "Change" is going to do great.
Raawr - November 2, 2007 11:25 AM (GMT)
IT SHOULD NOT BE A SINGLE!
I like it, its okay.
But have they learned NOTHING from Follow Me Home - which, imo, was a better song BY FAR.
Open The Door is a far superior track if they insist on releasing ballads.
Please stop calling it a xmas single. Its not. Its a single released near xmas.
London - November 2, 2007 11:42 AM (GMT)
No need for the attitude, and everything and everyone else will call it a Christmas single because the release date, not for the fact that it may be a Christmas song like "Jingle Bell Rock," or "Winter Wonderland."
And this single does have potential, I dont feel "Open The Door," has the potential all that much. It is a very good song, but the chorus is weak to me.
AmelleLover26m - November 2, 2007 12:04 PM (GMT)
London is right.
Because of the release date people will class it as a xmas release and it does have a wintery feel to it.
But like about you now, people dissed that at the beginning and said it will flop but look how well it did. We can make predictions of course, but all we can do is hope it does well. Im sure it will. IMHO its 1000x better than the new Spice Girls Song.
charmed247 - November 2, 2007 01:35 PM (GMT)
I haven't heard the Spice Girls song yet, and I don't know if I should even bother now. :P
I think the whole reasoning behind Follow Me Home was that they did have a somewhat successful fourth single in Caught In A Moment.
I think this is the perfect ballad for a single. Mended By You is viewed as boring by some, and some of the others just don't have strong single material. I love the album, I do, but Change is clealy the polished track for the second single. It is a good choice, and I have a feelign that they were planning on releasing it ever since they decided About You Now would be the first single

Amen to that :)
wilma wong - November 2, 2007 03:22 PM (GMT)
i personally wouldn't have chosen any of the ballads for a single. they are the weakest tracks on the album by far. although change is the best of the ballads it still seems a bit unmemorable
toolostinyou - November 2, 2007 05:41 PM (GMT)
Its a good choice to me, because its great to keep on alternating, 1 catchy song, a ballad or slower song, that's great. I dont care bout the rest ^^
I just hope its gonna chart well and if its not the case, lets hope 'Denial' will be released as 3rd or 4th single to give them anothjer number one, cos i think song fits people's tastes pretty well, it has the potential to be n°1 ...
Anyway, Change is goooooood :D
AmelleLover26m - November 2, 2007 05:57 PM (GMT)
Im more excited for this chart position than I was for AYN.
As said before, AYN more or less sold itself with not too much promo and look how well it did? Change has big protential and im sure it will live up to it.
MadUpUourLife - November 2, 2007 06:35 PM (GMT)
Change > Headlines lol
If they do a good promotion, it can reach top 10. Im glad they chose Change for 2nd single since AYN did sooo good, people want to hear more from them.
And if they pick Denial and NGDA for next singles, these songs are stronger and can speak for themselves.
AmelleLover26m - November 2, 2007 07:36 PM (GMT)
Sorry I couldn't resist this:
| QUOTE |
if ( change >= ayn ) { printf("Well all go mad with pride!\n"); }
else { printf("We will be passionate and soben\n"). } |
charmed247 - November 2, 2007 10:39 PM (GMT)
Everyone has made really good points.
As much as I NEED NGDA to be a single, it is such an amazing track, I would not want it to be released at Christmas. It seems like a February/March track. Change is a winter song if you ask me
AmelleLover26m - November 2, 2007 11:10 PM (GMT)
Hence why Change is being released around xmas ;)
NGDA is a massive dance song and I think it has #1 protential. Ok its waaay to early to be saying this but there is nothing wrong with a bit of early optimism :P
charmed247 - November 3, 2007 12:40 AM (GMT)
Of course there isn't! How soon after Ugly did we find out that Red Dress was next?
It should start getting radio airplay in about 2 weeks I would say. GA were playlisted on Radio 1 this week and they come out like 3 weeks before the babes
AmelleLover26m - November 3, 2007 07:02 AM (GMT)
Promo for it has sort of already begun. They have already done a live radio version of it and we already seen the promo cd for the single.
LittleSugababe - November 3, 2007 12:01 PM (GMT)
Im not really liking Change.. I think they should release Open the Door or Mended By You...
But BACK WHEN would make a perfect xmas single IMHO
AmelleLover26m - November 3, 2007 02:39 PM (GMT)
I think most bands release the title song to the album. And they always do well not to mention pull in extra album sales along with it.
charmed247 - November 3, 2007 03:19 PM (GMT)
Exactly, really the point of releasing a single is for people to buy the album. The hard part of picking a single off of a album, is that you want it to be a track where a lot of people like it, not a few people who love it. It needs to be catchy to the public so the public will buy the album.
Change has gotten positive reviews, as well as NGDA which people have labeled a standout.
You don't want to release a single that people are divided on.
LittleSugababe - November 4, 2007 03:28 AM (GMT)
Well, I dont think they need to worry about pleasing loyal Suga fans with the single choices. Many fans have divided points of view on BACK WHEN. However, I feel that the general public (those that aren't really fanatics of the 'Babes) will like the song a lot.
Whether the fans like BACK WHEN or not, I believe they would still buy it bcos .... Well.. It's a Sugababes single after all.
Anyways I guess I'll just look forward to NGDA after Change...
rmssw - November 4, 2007 03:47 AM (GMT)
Personally, I think Change is one of the best songs they've ever done. I also think it has the greatest potential of all the songs to be a second number 1.
LittleSugababe - November 4, 2007 05:51 AM (GMT)
but none of their past balladas have done well.. the public just dont respond to Suga ballads for some reason
AmelleLover26m - November 4, 2007 08:21 AM (GMT)
Ballards never really do well by any artist.
Its a sign of the times the music theme has changed. People are more into rnb and electro pop these days. But the babes always deliver no matter what.
