LYRICS

I like my man rough
I like my man tough
But he's gotta be smooth
When he's giving my love
I like my man clean
Like the cut of his jeans
It's like the Lord made
Tailored man for me (tailored man for me)
He's gotta smell good
Treat me like a man should
Keep his hair trimmed low
He's a friend of my soul
He keeps me secure
Makes me feel safe
And if you ever dare touch me (and if you ever dare touch me)
He'd have to put you in your place (he'd have to put you in your place)

'Cause my baby don't back down
My baby don't back down
'Cause he's alright
Because he's alright
My baby don't back down
No he never back down
'Cause he's alright
Because he's alright

I like my man sexy
I like my man made
He knows what I want
He's the ying to my yang
I like my man patient
And his body real tight (real tight)
And he never keeps me waiting
That's just what I like (that's just what I like)
See these boys are no good
'Cause I need a real man
Someone who can keep me
In the palm of his hand
He's gotta treat me right
Never do me wrong
Better know how to please me
And turn me on

I know he'll never back down
My baby never back down
'Cause he's alright
Because he's alright
No my baby don't back down
My baby don't back down
'Cause he's alright
Because he's alright

I like my man cool
Much cooler than ice
And if I didn't meet him
I wouldn't have to blink twice (to blink twice)
He gives me kisses by the hour
And when he brings me flowers
It never felt so sweet (sweet)
When he's around me
(He's got a lot, he's got a lot, he's got a lot of love)
He makes me smile
Instead of making me laugh
He never moves too slow
He doesn't move too fast
He's the love of my life
He's all that I need
And when he's with his friends
He's proud about me

'Cause my baby never back down
No my baby don't back down
Because he's alright
Yeah he's alright
No my baby don't back down
My baby don't back down
'Cause he's alright
Because he's alright
Oh yeah

Break it down, break it down, break it down now
Break it down, break it down, break it down now
Break it down, break it down, break it down now
Break it down, break it down, break it down now
Break it down, break it down, break it down now
Break it down, break it down, break it down now
Break it down, break it down, break it down now
Break it down, break it down, break it down now

i love the song :) its nice and different from other sugababes songs. B)

Jamestm - October 9, 2007 10:13 PM (GMT)
I understand what they're trying to do here; mix it up a bit and try different things, but I'm really not a fan of this song.

Hopefully it'll grow on me

Rich - October 9, 2007 11:55 PM (GMT)
Nasty Ghetto part 2.

But no way near the same league.

This has to be the weakest song on the album in my opinion, although it's nice to try new styles, Nasty Ghetto worked but I don't think that this does. There are worse Sugababes songs (This Aint A Party Thing, Future Shokk, Shake It) but not so many on albums.

No.78 - October 10, 2007 08:55 PM (GMT)
I dunno why everyone doesn't like this song, it's so good! And it breaks out of the usual sugababe song formula.

Sugababes UK - October 10, 2007 09:47 PM (GMT)
This is one of my least favourites at the moment but I stil like it. My favourite part is Heidi's chorus.

My favourite part is Heidi's chorus.

i've heard it's amazing, can't wait 2 hear it

AmelleLover26m - October 11, 2007 11:50 AM (GMT)
Im also in agreeance that this is the weakest track on the album. It always shows character and adventure to try somthing new.

But this didn't work for me. I do not hate it totally and I never skip it when I play the album but its going to be one of the very few Sugababes songs im never going to be very keen on.

Clementine - October 11, 2007 01:54 PM (GMT)
I just can't see why almost everyone hates it. It's one of my favorite songs on the album. It's so different, cool and the vocals are just amazing. I love it! :P

Sugababes UK - October 11, 2007 02:11 PM (GMT)
I think the lyrics are wrong in the booklet

QUOTE
He makes me smile
Instead of making me laugh

What do people think it really is?

It sounds like "He makes me smile 'cause that will make me laugh"

What do you think?

AmelleLover26m - October 11, 2007 02:21 PM (GMT)
After Heidi sings the line its repeated agian louder.

To me it sounds like:

Inside it makes me laugh...

Its very hard to tell as the music is the dominant feature on that part of the song.

blaketat - October 11, 2007 03:05 PM (GMT)
I Love This Song Also.
One Of The Best On The Album!

Robert - October 12, 2007 04:32 PM (GMT)
I didn't like it from the clip I heard but now it's grown on me. The chorus is wicked! There's a lot on the album that's much stronger though...

I hope it's not a single either. I've heard them say in an interview they'd like it to be one.

Ok... after a few million more listens of the album, I kinda don't mind, possibly even quite like this song a lot now!

Heidi owns it.

And it's catchy!

sugaste - October 13, 2007 09:25 PM (GMT)
The lyrics are:

He makes me smile
Knows how to make me laugh (Knows how to make me laugh)
He never moves to slow
But doesnt move to fast.

Mr. Ace Reject - October 14, 2007 10:23 PM (GMT)
This is such a cool song and so different to the other tracks on Change. It reminds me of Nasty Ghetto but I prefer Back Down. Heidi's party is amazing, especially her adlips. It's such a shame that there aren't more adlips by Heidi and Amelle on this album and that Keisha is almost doing all the adlips.

AmelleLover26m - October 19, 2007 04:22 PM (GMT)
This song is starting to grow on me a bit more than before.

I have got into it a bit more and it is totally different to the rest of the tracks on the ablum but diversity is the babes middle name after all, and that is never a bad thing.

lola - October 20, 2007 04:34 PM (GMT)
so cool! what a reggae!!! :D awsome

AmelleLover26m - November 17, 2007 11:47 PM (GMT)
I heard this one quite a bit today on repeat and I have grown to appriciate it more than ever. Its not one of my fave tracks still but I do like it alot more now than I did at first.

HeidiLoving - November 18, 2007 03:41 PM (GMT)
I don't understand why so many people dislike the song. I fell in love with "back down" right from the start.

It's the same for me. I just adore this track. Back Down is so fresh, cool and different.

same here!

AmelleLover26m - November 18, 2007 04:38 PM (GMT)
I think for some people "Back Down" is a grower. It was for me anyway. I like it a lot more now than when I first heard it.

But then again I love NGDA and some people are not all that keen on it, so is all a matter of valid taste and opionion.

Rich - November 18, 2007 05:09 PM (GMT)
I still don't like it as I think it's like Nasty Ghetto but a worse version... I really love Nasty Ghetto still though.

This is the one track that is yet to grow on me

I Love The Backing Music To It.
Spesh In Amelles Chorus.

AmelleLover26m - November 30, 2007 07:02 AM (GMT)
Mixture of the way the vocals are mixed with the reggae music is quite clever here too.

SUGA-QUO - December 10, 2007 10:25 AM (GMT)
This is by far the best song on Change imo! I dont know why everyones got a downer on it. Im not a fan of songs like NGDA & MLIP, but Back Down has the energy for me B)

AmelleLover26m - March 24, 2008 07:39 PM (GMT)
This could still turn out to be the fourth single. The babes do want it released.

Suga Aloud - March 24, 2008 07:44 PM (GMT)
Oh how I would love this to be a single - imagine it on radio 1, Amelle's opening line - you'd just wanna listen to it and of course fall in love with it :P

Im really getting into this one now... typical of me to come back to somthing then love it more :P

Im really feeling at seeing what other people have said. Id be happy if this was relelased, and yeah I agree with the above, "I like may man rough..." great opener :D

it is Keisha's favorite song of Change

aboutyounowchange - March 24, 2008 07:53 PM (GMT)
When I first heard this song - I said to myself, it's the worst song on the album. But since I've been to the concert, Back Down has really grown on me, and now I think it's one of the best on the album. I don't know why I hated it so much. I don't mind if they do decide this as the 4th single from Change. I'm gonna edit my post on the Change Review Thread!

krajol - March 24, 2008 07:56 PM (GMT)
It seems to me that it'd be very bad idea to realase it as a single ;/

AmelleLover26m - March 24, 2008 07:56 PM (GMT)
Great to see many of you have had the same change of heart as me. I do like this a lot now. I know Rich said months back its like Nasty Ghetto 2", I agree it does sound similar.

If this is released, it could do well, depednant on how people react to the different Sugababes vibe on it. Mind you look how well that worked for AYN ;)

aboutyounowchange - March 24, 2008 07:59 PM (GMT)
Back Down is just one of those songs that's gonna take some time to grow on you.

Suga Aloud - March 25, 2008 12:24 AM (GMT)
Back Down would be my choice for the 4th single. I can just see it being a summer hit.

lola - March 25, 2008 12:35 AM (GMT)
suga reggae... amazing ofc but i don't know if it's a good choice

Tom - March 25, 2008 02:07 AM (GMT)
I loved this from the first time i heard it.
