Thanks Annie!
Those are beautiful.

The orchids that I can grow [in the garden], are tiny. I'll take some pics when they bloom.

We're just entering spring, you must be at the end of summer.

It's nice to see some signs of life around here. There's not much going on outside with 2 feet of snow still on the ground in northern NY.

Those a beautiful orchids - wish something like that would grow here. I do have an Iris you'd like. It's one of the few fragrant ones and smells like Bazooka Joe Bubble Gum with nice blue-purple blooms.

Hi stone....

tq...i look forward to pics of your orchid....well we r not really at d end of summer s u know it...meaning d 4 seasons that u know...we do not have your four seasons n it is 'perpetually summer' here.... only cools down during very rainy days...or d rainy season of the monsoon...

Hi wiseacre.....

tq sooo very much for d offer...i have two irises growing in my garden.... both fr american friends fr another forum.... n both have not bloomed.... one is a lousiana iris thaz pink...n d other m not sure...supposed to b blue or may b purple....

d lousiaan iris is showing very vigorous growth... has grown rather big...hope it wont b long till it blooms...but d other...which i had much longer is still rather small......

Winter in GA doesn't mean no flowers.

January Colour

3 pics from the winter garden posted on the calendar....

I back-slid some, no pics from March, & it's been spectacular! The Helebore have peaked, as have the forsythia, bloodroot, trillium, camellias...

It's nice to see some color. I wouldn't have thought you'd have that much in winter Stone. All I see when I go out is shades of gray/brown on white.

Your pics r beautiful, stone....aahhh all d flowers i would love to grow if situation permits....

s such i m not able to grow 'em!! i took some Camellia cuttings some time ago... all died out except one.... but it did not grow either.... it had two dark green leaves for a long long time .... sometime ago one dropped....n only one is left.... but no new growth at all...has been like this for ages.... i can't even remember when it was that i planted d cutting....!! But i loathe to pull it up n throw away.... s that one lonely leaf is still dark green...i presume it is still alive..??!!??

stone - March 23, 2008 01:45 PM (GMT)
Sorry to hear that your camelias are doing so poorly.

I don't really know how to grow them from cuttings either. I mean, I know the theory... just haven't done it yet.

I have grown them from seed very successfully. I gave the best seedlings away when I had my plant nursery taken from me.

The seedlings that I gave away are doing very well. Matter of fact, one of the blooms on the winter picture came from one of them.

I split the topic, Annie... and moved your fish to the water garden: My fish
Not a very creative title, & my apologies... Maybe shoulda called it "bretta pictures"? I still might if I can figure out how....

Nice snow pic, wiseacre. Brrrrrrrr.

Here's a Kentucky lady slipper orchid that I planted last autumn!

I took the pic yesterday.... More ladyslippers are getting ready to bloom. Lady slipper orchids are a very recent plant being provided by a few reputable nurseries.

Beware trying to dig these from the wild, they will not live! Apparently, if even the smallest part of a root is damaged, the entire root dies... When did you ever dig a plant without severing roots?

AnnieOfPB - April 29, 2008 07:34 AM (GMT)

Here's chinese foxglove, (In bloom now). Not actually a foxglove, but maybe you'll do better with it.

Dunno why your foxglove seed didn't grow, how deeply did you plant them?

Hi Stone...

i wonder if u do seed exchange...m hoping to get some seeds of Helianthus angustifolia or Swamp Sunflower.....

stone - May 14, 2008 10:27 PM (GMT)
Sure.

If you'll look into what we need to do to get them through the mail.

Swamp sunflowers bloom in October, it'll be a while.
