Title: A Homemade Army
Description: A good idea, that could be implemented

The thought has crossed my mind on several occasions of having a homemade army. Not an army in the literal sense of the word, but a squad all armed with homemade weapons. It would be nice to set the "danger distance" between opposing sides back a bit, and add a sense of realism to the game. With the development of my Lee-Enfield Bolt Action CPS Homemade in progress along with my recent addiction to WBL, I am hoping to arm about 3 out of my 5 squad members with homemade weapons by the end of 2006. Thoughts? Comments? Questions?

By "danger distance", do you mean effectively increasing the combat range?
If so, I agree that this is a good idea. ;)

Exactly. I am not encouraging realistic warfare. However, increasing the range would definently increase the amount of different maneuvers you could make. It would make the game more fun.
@Spinner. Thanks :D When I was writing this, I had a bit of a brain freeze and could not think of the right phrase.

I could see a mixed modded/homemade army, but an all-homemade army would take a lot of time and money to achieve. Although I like the idea. And just having homemades may not have a drastic affect on combat range. You'll need well constructed and powerful ones, designs of which I assume you have already.
And modded guns still have the potential to outrange homemades, or at least my 3 21K's. Maximizing range on a modded gun remains a skill of the elite for the moment, so homemades still have the edge. Modifieds will make a comeback! 65ft. and counting! :P

You know me too well :P
Homemades are the future, however modded guns IMO will always be fun, and will always have a place in my collection. With homemades, however, I see a horizon of completely undiscovered and unattempted possibilities, that i can try before I leave this stuff. Which will probably never happen. Entirely.

I think it would be a cool idea, but mix up the type of homemades. One type of gun in any army can be its downfall because there is no gun that is perfect for every situation. Though your army would be a powerful enemy to go up against.

Yeah. I already have several diffferent homemade desigs. I just finished (designing) my first air powered water balloon launcher that is breech loaded using a bolt action system and two seperate solenoid valves which would contribute to twice the amount of out put. Calculations suggest a range of almost 300 yards. Its is a staggered over and under deisgn with anactual butt stock and handle. It will be about 28 inches long, and will ahve adaptive barrels. Initial costs will be more than a 100 dollars. All for the sake of water warfare right? <_< Anyways, it should be awesome, and will completely revolutionize the homemade field. I will not present the actual design until after I have completed it. Which will probably not happen in the near future. :D

That sounds really cool, but I personally couldn't spend that much, I think to revolutionise the soaker community, things have to get cheaper.
wetmonkey442 - February 5, 2005 03:34 PM (GMT)
Of course, but if Super Soaker built igh quality guns, they would cost this much too. THe reason that you are used to cheap prices on Super Soakers is due to cheap construction. The overall quality and power of this gun definently makes up for it, and it's just too bad if that narrows down the field to only the people who can afford to make it. I'm not rich, not even close. I don't have a job, and I used only me allowance and lawn mowing jobs for this kind of stuff. I'm not going to mass produce this thing, just make one.

If a homemade could have a handle and a trigger, I would make tons of them. But I have yet found a way, cheaply that is.
Commander_Gaunt - February 6, 2005 08:55 AM (GMT)
A home-made is hard to make, can be dangerous and is expensive, also they are banned from my local wars (although I got them to agree that WBLs aren't). I prefer the finished look of a soaker, I would much prefer to mod than build from scratch. However I am pretty noobish about homemades.

Homemades really aren't that hard to make. Only the people who have never made one say that they are hard. It's actually harder to find all the necessary parts than to put them together. And a WBL is 10 TIMES more dangerous than a homemade. You can't injure someone with a homemade, but you can really hurt someone with a wbl. Think of it like this: what would hurt more, being shot with a rifle or a bazooka? :P
I don't mind that "pipe guns" look ugly, they are your own creation and you have direct control about everything. Weight, type of pump, nozzles, power, pc capacity, it's all up to you. Regular soakers are cheaply made and don't give you many options.
