Title: Eliminating Non Participating Members
Description: I Think It Would Be A Good Idea

wetmonkey442 - January 11, 2005 03:43 PM (GMT)
I am not sure wether this is even possible or not, but I think it would be a good idea to complete delete members from the Soaker Media database, if they have joined but never posted. take a look at Isoakers and SSC's members lists. TOns of people don't post, and they help to contribute to an inaccurate membber level count. Again, this might not even be possible to do, but if it is, I would urge you to do it.

I agree, that would be a better way of seeing how well the site was doing.

NiborDude - January 11, 2005 09:19 PM (GMT)
I may in the future, but as of now, the forum is just getting off its feet. It's better for now to let people keep their accounts. In some months I might do some spring cleaning. :P

DX - January 12, 2005 02:06 AM (GMT)
Well we only have 1 non-poster out of 12 members, which is a good ratio. 4 members only have 1 post, but then again they have contributed I guess... :P
This idea may be implemented when and if we get more members, but right now there's simply not enough members for this policy to be practical.

wetmonkey442 - January 12, 2005 02:07 AM (GMT)
That is pretty much what I meant. Besides, except for Mystic, everyone else has posted at least once. I counted up the number of people in the SSC database who didn't post. 67 have 0 posts.

EDIT: I didn't notice that Dux posted right as I did. I'll say again, I didn't mean to suggest this now, but as something to use when we have a lot of members in a couple of months.

NiborDude - January 13, 2005 02:24 AM (GMT)
Yeah, we understand. I just hope there will eventually be enough members to apply that. :P

Commander_Gaunt - January 13, 2005 07:53 PM (GMT)
There will be... it's a good site

I'm doing a purge of most non-posting members. Out of the 105 members that are currently displayed, perhaps half have actually posted anything.

SilentGuy - February 11, 2007 10:35 PM (GMT)
Can you view a list of members, sorting by last activity? The regular member list doesn't show that.

DX - February 11, 2007 10:38 PM (GMT)
There's a last activity option in the admin cp list.

isoaker_com - February 25, 2007 01:14 AM (GMT)
Hmm... I'd better make sure my account is active! :P

I'd only recommend purging definitely unwanted members like banned spambots, etc. Not sure I'd recommend wiping accounts of shy members or those who don't post since some may be just trying to get a feel for the place. Unless you prefer only active members to read things, there is no real harm at having members who have joined, but don't post.

Off-topic:BTW, the "Fast Reply" button needs a new graphic to match the rest of the buttons.

Wow...this place is active again...

I'm back, if I could ever be considered gone. I've got a few new ideas, and some older ones I want to test out. Some things have changed for the better, and I'm not going to let this summer waste away, even if I end up doing something else instead of water warfare. But water warfare will always hold a place in my heart.

Oh, by the way, Spring Break is coming up. ;)

Welcome back! The update closing kinda killed any activity we used to have. I honestly don't know the future of this forum, but we're going to keep it open, at least for now.
