Title: The Arms Race is on...
Description: [and members]

DX - March 15, 2006 12:30 AM (GMT)
Today we engaged in a race for getting potential members into our "spheres." Waterbridge has more, but our current roster contains more reliable and dependable members, so less of a need for the barely-know-them people that Nick has listed. For Nibordude's reference, here are just a few of the people Nick may try to draft: Kevin H, Fredrick, and Felipe. 'Nuff said.

As for the arms race, Waterbridge may either respond by building some launcher of their own, or by adding roofs and thicker walls to their forts. We established a "45 degree" rule for firing Douchenators, AKA no shooting it directly at something from a level angle. Nick will simply have his team walk off the field if that is violated. [I do see the safety concerns...perhaps we shouldn't have mentioned the 141 MPH velocity when an object comes out of the barrel :o ] That means no directly bashing down walls with Douches, only shelling them by angling the trajectory to fall over the fort like a mortar.
There is also the under 100ft. ban, but with the 45 degree rule the 100ft is no issue.

Simply put, we have to teach responsible use as well as how to use. Nick is afraid of possible injury, etc. if we aren't really careful.

Anyway, first battle is a night battle on Friday the 31st [this Friday!]. Should be a good one, we may want to test out our silencer for the Douchenator.

Seems reasonable to me, I wouldn't be shot at with a balloon travelling at over 100 mph without knowing that the firerers (probably not a word, I know) knew how not to cause permanent damage.

I personally like Arms races, as long as people don't go totally broke attempting to outpower each other it virtually always advances technology.

EDIT: Spelling

How can you aim if you have to aim at 45 degrees? It would be very hard to hit anything unless you had an aiming device.

It's under re-negotiation. We may be able to use PSI limits instead.

Yeah, it's hard enough to hit someone with a soaker at 45 degrees. At least for me. :P Those regulations sound fair enough. I certainly wouldn't want to get hit by one.
