A large group of friends and I started this back in September. We think that there are Cold War tunnels built in 1962 connecting certain buildings in town. We've been doing a documentary on this via actual exploration; visiting 2 bomb shelters in schools, going into the catacombs under the school theatre, trying to get into other areas with locked doors, meeting with some people at the BOE and at Town Hall, searching the local archives, etc.
Of course, town officials will not admit to the existance of such tunnels. Also, we have been told by cooperative people that they "did not have the authority" to give us keys/access to certain places of interest.
So this Saturday I am taking a trip to Trenton and will attempt to find information in the state archives. I'm also writing a letter to the mayor from 1962. We have just about all evidence you can get short of hard proof. These two options hopefully will give us something useful.
Whoa, that sounds really cool. Have you visited any underground tunnels yet? I wish my city had that kind of stuff in it. :P I wouldn't mind exploring some tunnels myself.
Those possible entrances we have found are sealed with concrete. We are trying to find ways in that may not have been sealed.
Welcome to Soaker Media. Enjoy your stay. B)
That's a lot of information to go through. It's probably not worth it.
As long as it's not like reading 1000 books or something, it's probably worth it. It's cool to know some of your town's history. And who knows what you might find in those tunnels? Weapons, mines, nukes (just kidding). You could make history! :)
