Title: Nexuiz
Description: Free online FPS

Has anyone ever played Nexuiz? I just found it a few days ago, and really like it. It can run under mac, linux, or *cough* windows, it's online (actually, it's ONLY online), it has pretty good graphics, and it's absolutely FREE!

There are several maps and a few types of play. The weapons are also great. There always seem to be at least a few people on at a time, so you'll usually be able to find someone to play with.

Unfortunatly, I'm not so good at FPS's, but I still enjoy playing it. I guess if you already have an FPS you bought for PC, then you really have no need for this. But if you don't, you should really look at it. A new version is coming out in the next few weeks, so make sure to check back often.

P.S. If you download the game, set it to 16 bit (on the video menu under options) and turn off most, if not all, of the effects (all mine are off and it still looks fine). Otherwise it's going to lag like heck.

The new version, 1.5, was released yesterday. If you've been having trouble playing on the online servers lately, that's because the servers are probably running 1.5. You should download it if you have 1.2.1. If you don't have 1.2.1, I recommend you download it anyways. ;)

Erm...how laggy it is is determined by how fast your computer is...

Yes, but out of everyone on the Nexuiz forum, I have yet to hear someone say that they can get over 60 fps with effects on default. And I can run Doom 3 perfectly, but Nexuiz is less optimized because it's a smaller project and doesn't have enough people to optimize the engine and player models.

Hmm...I think the problem is your computer, I have a slower connection and it works great for me...

^ Can't be I got my pc in 2004. It's probably the game size (my games are upwards of 12 people), the game itself is also know to be extremley laggy no matter the pc or graphics resoloution. B)

Hmm...try it in campaign mode (single player) and if its still slow then its your computer, if it isnt slow, then blame the computers of the people you play with...lol

SP runs fine, but I still like the xbox version more (even if the graphics aren't quite as good). B)
