Like the Tech Dictionary, I think it would be useful to have an article of terms used in water wars:
Flank [noun]: any side [front, left, right, rear] of a battle line
Flank [verb]: to attack the enemy from the left, right, or rear
Double Envelopment: attacking the enemy at two of their flanks [most commonly the right and left]
Obliquing: attacking the enemy line at an angle, usually aiming for a flank
Position: any place that your troops or your enemy's are holding
Manuever: any movement of battle forces from one position to another
Tactic: a method/manuever to outwit the enemy, gain an advantage, or otherwise use cleverness to win the day
Strategy: a longer term plan for victory than a tactic, may involve all of your forces and include multiple tactics and manuevers
Ambush: attacking the enemy from a concealed position using the element of surprise
Retreat: falling back and giving ground, whether intentionally or being forced back by an enemy in battle
Engagement: any fight between two opposing forces
Artillery: water balloon launchers, lacrosse sticks, or anything else used to hurl solid shot [water balloons]
Taking the Initiative: taking control of the momentum and other aspects of the battle [difficult to explain]
Add more if you want to.
These terms are just fun to use. :P
to surge: to move forward in one rush, hoping to take the enemy by pure force.
to scatter: to your men to avoid the enemy.
to divide and conquer: a good strategy when dealing with a larger opponent.
finally, and this one is great: to humiliate and annihilate: works great against opponents with low self-esteem or who are easily provoked into doing something stupid.
