Title: Maps of Your Battle Field
NiborDude - December 14, 2005 10:41 PM (GMT)

That's WaterBridge's park, battle field, and Home ground. I'll post the RM's battle field tomorrow or later today. It's massive and may take a while.

Why don't you use
Google Earth for images of your battlefield, you can get a satellite image of the ground and you can move the shot down to show the contours and terrain, I have used it before and it works a treat.

We use google maps quite often, but the satalite picture doesn't always get enough detail. Plus, if you make you're own you can lable things.
A possiblity if anyone wants to try is take the image from google and then draw over it to label things and point out key locations.

Google Earth has very poor reception in certain areas. It also doesn't gradually increase in quality either. YOu can see the Leprekan's house quite clearly, yet mine a few miles away is indistinquishable.

It's population-based. The higher population density of an area, the better reception it has. Look at New Jersey and Massachusetts, and then look at Idaho. :P

Also, areas near military bases and things like national monuments or government buildings are pretty clear.

Several countries are asking Google to blur out sensitive areas, since you can zoom right in on every military installation and other government buildings. Want to see the Kremlin? The White House? Buckingham Palace? That actually just gave me an idea. Hmmm, here's Arizona, let's go for Area 51...

By the name of the topic, does that mean we can show maps of ours too? I might post one of mine, using Google Maps as a starting point because I can't draw in scale very well. :D
NiborDude - March 20, 2006 11:21 PM (GMT)
Sure. Considering no one else posted maps of their parks.

Well, this is a map of the area we used last season. We might not use it this year, it's kind of far for the rest of the team (one mile, we normally take bikes there, and carry tools). This winter I scouted out an area closer, and it is okay, except it is adjacent to the golf course, and only about 1/6 the size of the other one. The only reason that we might keep playing at the big one is because it has a bunch of supplies there (that were there when we found it), like scrap sheet metal, an old oil drum and a rusted stove. Those are partially buried and we haven't dug them up yet, (the scrap metal is long, so it is deep) but we might soon. There are also a bunch of spare fence pieces. They look kind of like skinny logs. Real pictures would explain a lot of this, but it's cold right now, maybe I'll have some in about a week.
If I get the hovercraft built within the next month, we might just take the supplies and go build in another forest. There are a bunch of places that we have named in our neighborhood, and as soon as the weather gets warmer, you'll see a bunch. ;)
And now for the map:

Like I said, pictures when it gets warmer. I went back today, to find to my suprise that the pig is gone. But the other half of a pig is still there, at least one is gone.
:o  :ph43r: Holy ****!! I can't open Paint! Well, until I figure out how to get paint working, you're going to have to wait. I have to do some resizing because they're to big for Imageshack, and I need Paint. :ph43r:

You could download the GIMP, a free image editor which is a very good program. Despite having Photoshop, I still use The GIMP for resizing images because it's fast, easy, and give you more control over file size and how much quality you want to take out.
