Title: Getting rid of unneccesary forums

NiborDude - December 10, 2005 06:08 AM (GMT)
"Taking the Initiative: Offense," and, "Making a Stand: Defense." Are, in my view really unneccesary. I'm thinking we should get rid of them and merge them back to tactics. Also I want to get rid of, "traps," Really, there are only two topics in it and one of them is called, "Ideas for traps." Also, "Current Events," and, "Technology," are pretty much useless and should be merged back into, "off topic." I really think that our board is way to large and should be shrunk until activity picks up again. It also looks really bad if we have so many areas to post in, and no posts in them at all. If we want people to post, the board needs to look lively, and that means less areas to post in.

I agree with the proposed changes. The tactical forums were a nice idea, but aren't really worth keeping at the moment in their present form.

Looking inactive is not good for new members. They will come and see that there are barely any active forums and think this board is dead. But we don't want a Nerf Haven style setup with a very active set of forums with only a few categories to post in.

The suggested changes will be initiated shortly. B)

Should the "Introductions and Soaking FAQ" forum be merged with the "Weaponry, Reviews, and General Soaking" forum? We might as well return to one large General Soaking forum.

Done with consolidation. Tis a shame, but we can't support so many forums at this time.

NiborDude - December 10, 2005 07:23 PM (GMT)
I like it better this way. It's easier to look at now.

Ah...breath of fresh air...I can read all the forums without scrolling...

DX - December 10, 2005 07:30 PM (GMT)
Wow-what resolution size do you have? I still have to do plenty of scrolling, but overall it does look a lot better.

Hunter - December 10, 2005 07:39 PM (GMT)
I'm not sure...I know it's pretty big...

Look's good just one thing. What happend to the off topic forum?

Never mind just found it. B)

Hunter - December 10, 2005 11:09 PM (GMT)
Yeah I spent a few minutes looking too before I found it B)

Yeah, well, I rolled back a few more forums to reflect the current times. Nothing has been lost, just moved into another forum like with the old wars category.

LIGHT ANNIHILATOR - January 26, 2006 11:21 PM (GMT)
^ Similar to what was done at isoaker. B)

DX - January 26, 2006 11:29 PM (GMT)
Although I feel that we shouldn't cut down quite as much as iSoaker did. We are almost back to what SM looked like in the beginning. Different forum names, but much the same divisions.

Some Guy - January 26, 2006 11:49 PM (GMT)
^ Yeah.. It does look familiar... Anyway I do think that it was a bit of an improvement. I hope it increases posting.

DX - January 26, 2006 11:51 PM (GMT)
I was also thinking about recombining Tech into one forum and moving it back into the main category and moving the polls forum into the News, Feedback, etc. one. Feedback on that?

Some Guy - January 26, 2006 11:58 PM (GMT)
Seems like it would work during low activity, but when things pick up since tech is one of the most used forums I think that it shoud probably be split into mods/repairs, integrations, and homemades again.

DX - January 27, 2006 12:07 AM (GMT)
The Voting forum will be absorbed into news, etc. but Tech will stand where it is. Of course that means it has to be used more often...wink wink...
