Title: Defensive Tactical Scenario
DX - November 23, 2005 04:25 AM (GMT)
You are the commander, with 5 hardcore troops outnumbered 2 to 1. [Do the math, the enemy is 10 strong] You have been driven back to a fortified position. Specifically, a treehouse. There is a small abandoned building nearby that you can use as cover also. The treehouse is 10 ft high with low walls, the walls of the building are about 7 ft high and there is one door. There are plenty of thick trees scattered around the area.
Your resources:
You: CPS 3000
Soldier 2: CPS 3200
Soldier 3: Water balloons
Soldier 4: Douchenator
Soldier 5: CPS 2500
Enemy:
Soldier 1: CPS 1000
Soldier 2: CPS 1200
Soldier 3: CPS 2100
Soldier 4: CPS 4100
Soldier 5: CPS 2500
Soldier 6: MD 6000
Soldier 7: MD 5000
Soldier 8: Monster X
Soldier 9: XP 310
Soldier 10: XP 270
1HK, no hoses, no shields, no other cheap crap. Good Luck!

Have soldier 4 Douch out as many balloons as possible. When the enemy gets within throwing range, have soldier 3 lob balloons as fast as possible to keep them at bay. Do whatever you need to do with the Douch to intimidate people to keep them from coming too close (even if that means screaming "Fire in the hole!" and ducking down with your hands over your head). Have soldiers 3 and 4 concentrate on the farther enemies while you and soldiers 2 and 5 attempt to eliminate the closer enemies. If the enemy gets too close, then get down from the treehouse as quickly as possible and run like heck with soldier 5. Soldier four stands intimidating the opposing team with soldier 3 close by. Soldier two should run in front of them, firing all over the place to destract the enemy from you and soldier 5, while you go all the way around and shoot at the other team from behind.
Will work unless the other team was smart and split up into flanking groups etc.

Soilder 3 should just throw balloons to keep the enemy at bay, and soilder 4 should try to snipe the on coming enemies (especially enemy soilders 4,5 and 8 since they pose the greatest threat). soilder 2 should fan blast all enemies that get to close. Soilder 5 and I will get the hard part of surrounding the enemies on 2 sides and scoring as many kills as possible. Another option is to get them to just waste their water, and chase them when they retreat. One more thing, what's a "cmd 5000"?
Edit: Post number 250 for me. B)

Oops, it should read MD 5000. My bad.

B52 ARCLIGHT mission...kill the enemy and everything within 4 miles of target zone...
m15399 - November 24, 2005 07:31 AM (GMT)
I don't believe B-52 was one of your resources. ;)

I'd use the douch to fire a bang every time I want them to back away a bit. I'd also have a bit of fire from every one lying down to make them think that we are trying. Then wait for them to be in lobbing distance, with a bit of fire on either side of them to get bunched up. Then lob waterballoons like there is no tommorrow at their positions. The WB spread damage should get a good number of them soaked. Then have people with the guns stand up and finish off the remainders.
m15399 - November 24, 2005 06:29 PM (GMT)
That would work unless they got right under you. You would be clumped together while they could spread out and destroy you. Best to have a backup plan ;)
DX - November 25, 2005 01:35 AM (GMT)
Every move has a counter. To counter the enemy going under the treehouse, you lean over the edge and point your gun down there [CPS guns can still fire upside down].
m15399 - November 25, 2005 03:26 AM (GMT)
Yes, but they would be spread out and you would be close together. They can just shoot all over the place inside the treehouse and they'll annihilate you, while you'll have to pick out individual targets.
Hunter - November 25, 2005 06:37 AM (GMT)
Seriously, I would set up a couple of ambush snipers that are not on the hill, which will open up AFTER the enemy has passed them, and confuse and sandwich them, THEN call in air support :P.
DX - November 25, 2005 05:00 PM (GMT)
This scenario was somewhat real, the weapons and troop numbers were made up but the positions were not. When we chose to defend here, we took up positions up the hill behind a tree and bushes. Waterbridge came up the hill and immediately checked the treehouse. We should have attacked when 2 of them had entered it leaving only one man outside. However we waited for them to descend and rushed them when they were retreating down the hill.
The best way to do this [IMHO] is to concentrate your forces around, rather than in, the treehouse. Kind of like a semi-circle which maximizes the amount of firepower you can bring to the front. The Douchenator could also help even the numbers by the time the enemy arrives within firing distance. Once a general engagement has begun, retreat slowly to draw out the enemy line and reduce the effectiveness of their numerical superiority. Either way you will have the best chance if you do not man the treehouse.
@Hunter: Did Washington have air support? Did Napoleon have air support? Did Wellington have air support? Water wars have infantry and artillery, and in rare instances limited naval support. Usually nothing more than land armies!

Wrong. If you are caught in the tree house when the enemy arrives then your screwed, but that probably will never happen. If you use the treehouse you could see them before they get anywhere near you, and the treehouse makes a perfect snipe point for the troops with water balloon's.
NiborDude - November 25, 2005 07:16 PM (GMT)
Not really. The tree house is a point that just screams, "OH MY GOD LOOK OUT THERE'S PROBABLY SOMEONE IN THERE!!!" Plus, you are confined inside of it. Your enemy has room to get around and hit you from different corners. Also, a cordination of covery fire and having someone go underneath the tree house would be beneficial. Now you can draw someone to shoot out of the tree house and then have the guy underneath shoot him from below.

You would be suprised how swiftly a good commander can take a treehouse. Once you get the right angle on them, the defenders are dead. Doesn't matter what weapons they have.

And going under the treehouse no longer should work. I destroyed that tactic in one of the later wars this season, driving Belisaurius out numerous times. All of my 3 kills were made by reaching out and nailing him underneath. Even with covering fire, another treehouse defender could reach out from the farther wall, out of reach by the attacker's covering fire at the near wall.
Basically, defending around the treehouse rather than in it works best, we can prove it in actual combat if you would like. That gives me an idea: maybe we could make video clips of combat scenarios and tactics? A video of a treehouse battle would negate the need for explanations.
NiborDude - November 26, 2005 01:27 AM (GMT)
Not if someone is shooting at the people in the treehouse from a distance away. Then when they reach over they'll get shot.
DX - November 26, 2005 02:07 AM (GMT)
They would have to surround the treehouse, if they can't then the defenders can reach over the wall opposite the one that's being attacked.
NiborDude - November 26, 2005 02:22 AM (GMT)
That's what I'm saying, surround the tree house so that they can't pop out and shoot under and hit the guy below.
Hunter - November 26, 2005 06:14 AM (GMT)
My philosophy: if at first you don't succeed, call in an air strike! actually, if your trying to take the hill and they're in a tree house, go around it, duh :P
LIGHT ANNIHILATOR - November 26, 2005 05:01 PM (GMT)
Hunter, sorry about the flame up earlier. B)
Hunter - November 26, 2005 07:06 PM (GMT)
Light annihilator I am joking around with the air strikes I'm obviously not serious. If it's annoying to you I'll stop.
LIGHT ANNIHILATOR - November 26, 2005 10:34 PM (GMT)
Sorry my bad, I just take things to seriously some times. B)
