Title: Crazy New War Idea

NiborDude - November 9, 2005 03:08 AM (GMT)
Today I was tihnking about how the season went this year and wondered about a new concept. What if every tuesday and thursday we have battles that only last an hour. Then on Saturday we have a regular war. The battlefield is basically all of Ridgewood. We try to control as much of it as possible. If you are hit, you are out for the day, you can't do anything for your team the rest of the day. We'll split the town up into sections and each one will be held or kept by each team. I'm still working out the kinks, but I think it would be crazy. They have something similar called dart wars, except its more teams, and you just have to kill the others. This has more strategy concerning holding and capturing areas. Plus, with many of us driving now, we could easily be able to get to different parts of town fairly quickly.

Anyone has views or suggestions on how to make this work better.

You could play risk if you wanted
Actually you could play something like that. You'd have to eleminate the troops though and just do specific battles evenly.

I think that certain areas that contain commanders' houses should be designated as Supply Centers and worth more. Territories should have some point value. The least desirable areas would have the lowest value.

Also, there are obvious things that could determine boundaries between territories:
Godwin Ave, Ridgewood Ave, Lincoln Ave, the Crest, Linwood Ave, Maple Ave, the Hohokus Brook, the Goffle Brook, Rt 17, the railroad line, etc all could be used to mark territory lines.

I personally don't liek this idea, sorry. Ridgewood is a massive place, and I'd need a second job to afford the gas to drive around it day after day to fight a water war. While I do agree on setting a standard day each week to fight on, I do not like this particular idea. Sorry.
