Title: Prebanning

DX - November 8, 2005 10:37 PM (GMT)
Well, here's a vote on the Preban practice. If the majority doesn't want it, then it will be abandoned. A moderate solution is probably better; keep the system for real issue people, but allow regular n00bs in. This is only in place to preserve the atmosphere at this board, as one of the original intentions was intelligent discussion free of "stupid" questions and the such.

But if it seems really unfair and elitist, which are not the intended goals, then vote that way and it will be acted upon. B)

After this we shall take Maurader's advice and return to soaking, no more discussion of power.

I think it's ok to preban, but only if there are grounds for banning on other boards. For example, I don't think you can ban someone for just being n00bish on another forum (unless the n00bishness included spamming etc.). I think it's a good idea to keep people like sniper and blaze from joining the forum though.

Pretty much the same. I found the preban sytem alright until Mr Fan was prebanned. As long as there is a good reason to believe that the person will be banned soon anyway you should just preban them, if not then well, no.

I think that people should only remain prebanned until they start behaving well.

Ok, the majority wants only those proven to cause trouble to remain on the list. Regular n00bs will be removed from it and not be subject to Prebanning just for n00bishness. B)

I'm good with that.
