Title: The Good Old Days

Remember the SSCentral Forums in their original form?

Old SSCentral Forums

Good Times...that isn't even all that old of an archive file. I sadly did not think to make an archive when I first joined. Can any of you newer guys imagine a time when SSC had a mere 5000 posts?

That is also not a true archive file. I originally only saved the page, before I knew about .mht which saves all the pages linked and all the images. I had to make an .mht of the .html file I saved since the old file had a capitalized first letter and you can't do that on the internet.

And here's the SM Forums at the beginning. That is a real .mht file, but clicking on other links will take you to the current board.

Finally, the original iSoaker Forums skin. That is not a .mht archive.
Nevermind-it doesn't work.

I took a look at the old ssc forums, and rememberd why i liked that format better.

The above ^ SSCentral was the skin I liked the best. It also brings back memories of how things used to be. A time before SM and the iSoaker Forums. It was just SSC and WWN. For those who are new, consider yourselves lucky that you didn't have to put up with Sniper or Blaze.

I'm shocked that so many people from that period of time have simply vanished. The older vets disappearing is understandable, but most of the 5th, 6th, and 7th generations are gone! And there is no 8th yet, and few newbies to replace the lost. :(

I remember blaze and sniper. I wasn't posting much if at all back then. I too loved the old ssc format. :(

I really have no idea why everyone loves that design so much. That was my least favorite design, in fact, I didn't even finish it from what I remember! I always intended for it to be a little different. I wanted more stuff on the left sidebar and on the homepage I wanted a right sidebar with polls, etc. almost like what we have right now. I also wanted some more padding, but I didn't know much about how to add it.

From what I know, people's favorite choices usually are what are around when they first came around. My favorite designs were some old Aquatica board stuff. Were they really that good looking? No, not really, but I was so interested that it didn't matter.

Most people who complain about sniper and blaze didn't know them. They are overhyped and it's best that we forgot them. I suppose that we'll be remembering this recent fake Zero fiasco as well? ;)

Of course the fake Zero will be forgotten, but Sniper and Blaze went on for such a long time with spam, flames, and/or multiple accounts. Didn't Sniper make more than 5 more accounts?

So it wasn't Zero!, i should have know better. Now a days for a member who has been around since aquatica to just leave and come back like this is really rare.

Ah, I suspected as much - what gave it away well and truly?

Nearly everything he did blew his cover. Zero never wrote like a n00b. Zero left before General RAK and I came around, and DoomSoaker wasn't my name back then. He tried to fake it well, but he really messed up more. He also sent a suspicious email to M4, had the same IP address as fsdl at the Super Soaker Central forums, etc. It was very easy to tell who this guy was not and almost as easy to tell who he was.

LIGHT ANNIHILATOR - October 7, 2005 12:56 AM (GMT)
I had a felling he was fake, he was posting in a way similar to the way I did when i first joined. Veterans don't post like that, i hope he does not try this kind of crap on ssc.

People should just quit trying to draw attention to themselves early. Doing so only gets others angry at you and/or results in bans. Don't pretend to be someone you're not, or otherwise feed the ego. Build a reputation quietly and gradually you'll pick up momentum.
