Awesome! Do you know how to put an admin/ mod type thing on the chat?
hotshotwithcps4100 - September 9, 2005 02:37 PM (GMT)
Yep, You can IM me if you are interested. Did you try the example I sent you?
Hunter - September 9, 2005 10:28 PM (GMT)
I'm scheduling a chat at 9:00 PM eastern time, at
http://ssnation.net/chat.html Be there, the more the merrier.
LIGHT ANNIHILATOR - September 9, 2005 10:31 PM (GMT)
By chat you mean forum right.
Hunter - September 9, 2005 10:35 PM (GMT)
No, it's a chat room. So far the only one in soakerdom I think...
Forceuser - September 10, 2005 08:38 AM (GMT)
Well actually, there was one on Water-Talk. We only had one organised chat, but it worked to an extent. One thing to note however, was that half the people were UK members. That was due to it being organised for a time they could do it. The time you've specified is in the middle of the night for us, potentially alienating people from using it.

Also, obviously Nibor and I were not able to come. Juniors being home at 9 PM on a Friday night? If you have a chat, I would suggest having it in the middle of the day, like between 11-3, which is more convenient for time zones.
LIGHT ANNIHILATOR - September 10, 2005 03:34 PM (GMT)
A chat a 7:00 pm eastern time is better. Sure some uk members could not come but 11:00-2:00 would be crap for me because i don't get home from school untill 3:20 so a 3:00 chat could work. But a 7:00 pm chat lets all unites states members and some uk members on . Holding a chat at 3:00 means pacific, mountian and central members would still be in school.
DX - September 10, 2005 03:42 PM (GMT)
Um, you realize that it was IMPLIED that the chat would be on a weekend?
Hunter - September 10, 2005 04:21 PM (GMT)
hmm...well, I'm on the chat right now, and usually am, so if anyone wants to just sign on and chat, anytime is good. How 'bout we have a chat at 1:00 PM eastern time today? because since its the weekends and such everyone should be able to attend. BTW, hotshot is being nice enough to design a better chat for us, so expect improvements!
Hunter - September 10, 2005 07:33 PM (GMT)
I just saw wetmonkey on the chat, lol, and at the exact time he was on I needed to use the restroom...anyway i'm back now.
NiborDude - September 10, 2005 07:51 PM (GMT)
This is what I don't like about chats and why they usually fail. Time constraints and not enough people. I logged in last night and no one was on for half an hour so I left.
Hunter - September 10, 2005 08:36 PM (GMT)
We had probably all left by then. At one point last night we had 4 people on the chat. We have had 3 for a while today.
Wild Boys - September 10, 2005 08:49 PM (GMT)
I'm still on it now. Personally, I really like this idea, despite what other people think. Its a good way to get the community more close together.
Hunter - September 10, 2005 10:02 PM (GMT)
Today the chat did really well, we had 5 people and there was lots of conversation, join in, everyone is welcome.
Wild Boys - September 11, 2005 09:10 AM (GMT)
Yep, things seem to be going well with the chat. 5 people on at once for a time isn't bad for a first time. Keep up the good work!
Hunter - September 26, 2005 01:41 PM (GMT)
I havn't been maintaining activity, so it's dropped, if you want it to stay up wild boys, can you post times of chats?
Wild Boys - September 26, 2005 03:19 PM (GMT)
The thing is, the time zones are a lot of difference. There is like 8 hours of difference. Its pretty awkward, but I'll give a list of times I'll probably go on.
UK time
5pm - 9pm
Converted to US time
9am - 1pm
Again this is just an estimate, it works better on weekends as there is no crappy school. ;)
