I'm building a base and I need some ideas. If you have any pictures post them here.

one thing ive learned: if you build a treehouse dont leave an area undernieth where people can go hide.

I've held a treehouse before and the space under it doesn't matter. You can simply lean over the treehouse wall holding your [CPS] gun upside down to fire at that area. Or wait for one of the attackers to move, since they cannot hit you from underneath [unless your treehouse floor is crappy]. :P

Bases are too easily taken by water balloons... Because they are generally small and the defenders are packed in.

If you have a lot of defenders, a wall is the best idea, or a ditch with a small wall. But for small numbers (under 5) It's better to have a few different places where one or two people can go in at a time. Then the multiple bases can help shoot attackers attacking other bases. They also provide a good place for sniping.

Or if you have a main base. Have a sniper hide separate from it, so if people attack the main base, the sniper can shoot them in the back.

Use the Defense in Depth method for your bases. Make lots of obstacles and impediments so that an enemy can't even range your base with water balloons. The most effective base I've held is surrounded by dense brier bushes. The thorns prevent enemies from coming close to the base and punish those who try. :ph43r: If someone manages to get through the thorns, under fire from the fort, they reach a wall that is 5-10ft in height. If there were a continuous water source in Stonewall, it could be held indefinately. B)

If I built a tree house I would just make it so that it totally seals up. Then they can't get you :) . But then you would need a lot of windows so that you could fire back. As long as everyone can fit water balloons won't make too much of a dent if it doesn't get in. Then again though you should have back up plans and snipers in case you really mess up.

I had a treefort (the tree died) and I have learned that Dux's idea of obstacles is very useful. My treefort was about ten feet up but it wasn't the size that made it a great fort, it was how it was used. The fort had just enough room for one person to move with a gun or two comfortably and was well built making it hard to get the person in it wet unless he got sieged by water balloons. That was good but the best part was the fact that it had a resivoir of it's own. There was a hole drilled in the roof leading to a big plastic bucket that could easily last the entire battle when filled.

Thanks guys. I think I will rebuild my treehouse.

Ok, my treeehouse isnt very leaky, so its not very good for water fights. I would think that stonewall could be beaten by a good WBL shooting at 300 fps. and dux, when i play paintball i usually have to crawl through brambles and the like. my BDU's stop the thorns and other evil stuff.
