Title: Sprinkler trap

NiborDude - May 9, 2005 08:23 PM (GMT)
Interest in both the RM and WaterBridge is growing in our school. Someone who has joined gave us an interesting idea for a trap. It's is basically a portable sprinkler system that you can set up and use to surprise the other team. It uses PC's and a bike pump. I'm gonna make a drawing of it and post later.

Edit:

I think the image can explain the system.

I've been thinking about making it. Design wise I think it has potential. Problem is use. It's gonna be pretty damn heavy. It's basically a one time use in a war.

On a side note this category should be done away with. There are two topics in here, one of them being titled, "Ideas for traps."

Is the trap activated by turning the valve while the enemy is crossing the sprinkler hose or is it supposed to be used with a tripwire setup? That would be an exellent trap when used with a tripwire.

There are problems with trip wires. For one thing, they do what they say, they trip people. Also, there is no really good way to set it up with a trip wire. The only thing I can think of would be having one of the ends tied to the ball valve handle, but that's just a little too unreliable.

For this kind of trap, the best way to set if off would be to have an actual person hiding in a bush. They would turn the valve at just the right moment, then pick up their gun and run away.

Well, the purpose of the trap is to keep people out without having to use your soldiers, isn't it? You might as well hide in a bush and shoot them.

True, although this would be a nasty surprise, much more effective than launching an ambush with guns. A sprinkler trap could kill the entire side in one go vs a regular ambush getting a few kills after an engagement. Using a trap in an ambush would also save the water in your guns for later.

Part of the idea is to have a rather long tube going from the PC to the sprinkler, that way you're rather far away from the action.

I guess you could place it 40-50 feet in front of your base, and when the enemy invades, open the valve when they're just about to cross the hose. You'd just need to figure out when you needed to turn it.

I don't like traps in war's. At the most you should just have a sprinkler guarding the base. B)

Couldn't have a sprinkler, where would we hook one up? Both battlefields we fight at are wooded, all streets and houses are OB [Out of Bounds].

We also tend to not use bases whatsoever. Neither the Ridgewood Militia nor Waterbridge uses real bases. We move around the park and establish temporary positions and/or caches for our stuff. But most of the time we bring everything with us, allowing the team to move quickly around the whole park. Our traps would most likely be used at places where Waterbridge would walk through and not see them. Problem is, neither team stays on the paths, and both like to move frequently. Placing them before the battle would be stupid, unless we make lots of traps.

Whats there not to like about traps?

I was thinking about how this could come in handy. If cordinated together, you could get the sprinkler set off, douchenator firing from a distance away, and a charge from behind all at once which could knock out everyone in one blow.
