Title: Ridgewood Regional War
Description: Additional Planning
DX - December 18, 2004 03:14 AM (GMT)
Although most of the development for this event is being planned at SSC, we can still do some planning here and transfer info to the SSC topic. The main topic has become pretty dormant right now, so an additional topic here may be more productive currently. Any info that gets posted from here at SSC will also get activity in the main topic going again.

I'm about 50/50. I might be able to come I might not. I am looking forward to it nonetheless, and I hope more people will become interested in it.

I think that a ton of new people are going to swarm SSC next year, so I'm almost positive that the amount of people who are going, will atleast double before the battle occurs. :P

The only problem is that the vast majority will be noobs that won't be able to handle the responsibilities of a regional war. The again I could be wrong, but we would benefit more from a few better people instead of a lot more undisciplined people. Quality over Quantity.

Am I mistaken in believing that you have an oppposing somewhat local team? If so why don't you invite them, to the regional battle. Or is part of the forum from the other team? Forgive my ignorance. On a side note I don't think many |\|0085 would go to a competition.

Waterbidge also operates in town, and they are a central part of this war. We can't have just our team. During the war itself though the local teams will be taken apart and mixed around. Teams will be composed of a variety of people and will be switched a few times so almost everyone can fight at least once with everyone else. I'm assuming that the local teams will make up at least half of the people present at the war [Together the 2 Ridgewood teams have around 20 people] and so the median age will be 16. Just to give you an idea of what to expect in terms of ages. There might be a few people younger than 13 and older than 18, but I'm not sure yet. The majority will be 13-18 though. Also don't bring any QFD-only weapons. Well I guess you could, but they are useless because there are no hoses.

England sucks, a regional war sounds so cool! I wish I could go  (no crying similie so I used that one because it looked funny).
wetmonkey442 - January 18, 2005 12:18 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I an pretty sure I am going now. And I'm bring a couple of WBLs along with me :P . Make sure to post the exact details when you get them, and I will be able to make a better decision.
NiborDude - January 18, 2005 02:24 AM (GMT)
I'm pretty sure that having one day on the 30 or 31, is better. I'm pretty sure having 2 days of battle would just kill some people. Not to mention everyone would have to get a room at a hotel. It might just be a lot easier for some to make this a one day thing.
wetmonkey442 - January 18, 2005 07:24 PM (GMT)
Not me. I'll just camp out somewhere :P
Oh yeah, and I looked at an atlas this morning, Ridgewood is a lot close than I thought. only about an hour and 30 to an hour and 45 minutes away!
NiborDude - January 18, 2005 08:45 PM (GMT)
Yeah, we're in the north east corner. I've said it before to Dux, Ridgewood is like the perfect place to have a regional war. It's smacked right in the middle of where everyone is on the east coast! People for Maryland can come, People from Mass and Maine can come. People from Penn and Indiana are coming! I think it's just the natural center for soaker wars. Well, maybe not. :P

This advertisement and imformation should be added to the site on a new page. I like it.
wetmonkey442 - February 3, 2005 11:46 PM (GMT)
I like it! I'm looking forward to this war. I really hope I can come.
Commander_Gaunt - February 4, 2005 06:44 PM (GMT)
I like the banner! Maybe it will encourage more teams/people to the battle.
DX - February 4, 2005 10:45 PM (GMT)
Over the weekend I'll work on a section of the site for Ridgewood 2005. As the official site of the event, we need to get some info up!
NiborDude - May 18, 2005 08:50 PM (GMT)
Seeing as it's coming up in a couple months, I thought we should revive this topic here since the other boards seem to not have that much interest. I would like to bring up the idea of having a competition for a number of things. Homemades, WBL's, modded guns, and anything else we can think of.
DX - August 1, 2005 02:12 AM (GMT)
The 2005 war has unfortunately been canceled. There was too little overall interest, conflicts of schedule, and other problems. There will be a 2006 battle, and it absolutely WILL happen, because planning starts now! :P
NiborDude - August 1, 2005 02:22 AM (GMT)
Bring ideas! The idea for competitions for certain areas for soakers is still open. I think we should have awards for "best" modded soaker, WBL, homemade, ect... Also, we need to get cracking on a news letter. I think we should have a section of Soaker Media devoted tot he regional war where we can have battle locations among other things. Maybe even, meet the hosts! Any ideas are appreciated.
DX - August 1, 2005 02:49 AM (GMT)
The Newsletter should be joint for all the current wars planned [only 2], so we need XP20 Warrior who has the Southern one. XP20 Warrior has not found SM yet, so does anyone want to inform him of this idea? Newsletter planning will be here in this forum, I'll make a topic for it.
Hunter - September 2, 2005 05:51 PM (GMT)
This sucks. I want to go but can't...
DX - December 30, 2005 11:55 PM (GMT)
Just letting you know that the idea is NOT dead. 2006 will be our year. I'll remind everyone of the Northeastern Regional War once the season kicks in and activity picks up around late Feb-early April.
Hunter - December 31, 2005 09:40 AM (GMT)
It's good to know some soaker stuff still exists in this world somewhat devoid of any soaker-ish activity at the present time.
