Title: forum reccesions...
Hunter - March 21, 2005 02:57 PM (GMT)
I have a theory as to why other forums aren't governed by the same boom-bust cycles that we are. our forum has few people, yet tons of posts, so, if one or two of our major posters becomes stuck up with homework, then there's a lot less posts to respond to, so there's less responses, and it keeps going on until someone kinda realizes that the forum needs more posts and they start posting more. Other forums have many people, so if one or two are busy it doesn't have as great an affect....

I think another factor is new people, they join and have a while posting a lot (lol a name springs to mind lol) and that kicks the older members back into action, then it kind of slows down again...

I think thats part of it. Part of it is the fact that we started during winter. Another part is that we are not like the other communities. There's just something about us that I can quite describe.

We also don't have much regulation, aka rules. The US would have major booms and severe recessions if there was no government regulation to stabilize the economy. Here it is more open and free, therefore activity fluctuates more than other communities. And like Nibor said, we are unique, so some answers to the way activity moves here are unknown. B)

Today we have already had more activity than any day since April 6th! 4th day in a row of rising activity! Go Soaker Media!
Hunter - May 1, 2005 04:01 PM (GMT)
Yay! I am soon to have 400 posts! I will reach that by the end of today, and i will try not to post too much spam! lol jk, no spam
Hunter - May 28, 2005 09:32 PM (GMT)
sorry for the double post, but i just wanted to bring it to everyone's attention that we are having another reccesion...

I agree with you hunter, you didn't make your deadline.
Hunter - May 30, 2005 10:04 PM (GMT)
well, i said it was 15 days ago, theres no real disagreeing, sincei was obviously right. anyway everyone start posting more, we've been kinda dead recently.

Another round of not posting very much; (in my opinion) but then again I sometimes do 80 posts a day lol...How am I supposed to get my goal of 1000 posts by the end of monday if theres hardly anything to respond to!? lol jk...
This topic can now be used for reporting reccesions and asking people to post more...actually, some admin will probably find this bad and lock it; so why not save them the trouble? TOPIC LOCKED I've always wanted to say that lol.
EDIT: topic opened again...I just wanted to have the fun of lonking a topic muahahaha...

I thought it had been agreed to ignore recessions and take them. There's no point in fighting against one when it comes. Every peak period lasts for about the same time, and every recession lasts roughly the same.
Hunter - September 2, 2005 02:21 AM (GMT)
I wasn't really a reccesion, the post #'s were just low by MY standards lol...
NiborDude - September 2, 2005 07:48 AM (GMT)
Well, we have new posts everyday and we're nearly at 5000 posts. Sure, our activity has dropped a bit, but that huge posting surge was going to stop eventually.
Hunter - September 2, 2005 04:18 PM (GMT)
I guess lol...I find that huge posting surges start when I post like 80 messages inm one day and everyone responds to stuff...
