Penalty

Imagine if this happened in the Premier League

He's right, but wrong at the same time. Totally correct in law, but shot himself in the foot as you then need to be consistent, which to be fair he was.

Fair play, I'd have probably turned a blind eye to the first one. But I'd have been wrong.

Puts my efforts at Ayr in the shade.

The thing with retaking penalties is, once you have given the first one, the smallest amount of encroachment you have to continue retaking and retaking and retaking until such time as everything is hunky-dorey, otherwise you are not being consistent and your decisions are not credible.

Personally, I only order a retake if the goalkeeper has made significant forward movement, or encroachment from the outfield players has bearing on what has happened after the shot has been saved/hit the woodwork. A player 2 yards inside the area when a goal is scored, or the shot is wide has no bearing on the incident for me, so goal/goal-kick and get out of there asap!!

Blimey!! You're right there Mr Leniency. Imagine if that was the home side taking the penalty. The crowd would have run a tantrum.
