Title: Hair pulling

An interesting one for you to chew on, brought up by a colleague prior to a game at the school of excellence yesterday.

Scenario:
A player with long hair is making an attacking run when a defender pulls on his hair to yank him back. What do you do?

Now, my thoughts are that this will seriously be painful, it seems far worse than a shirt pull (which would be a yellow card) so I'm tempted to say bin him. But I could see a red card would be very difficult to sell, so part of me thinks yellow.

Thoughts?

I would probably without doubt produce a Red Card. that to me is just as good as pushing someone in the chest and I would consider it to be Violent Conduct

Yeah my instinct reaction was a red card, initially I was thinking serious foul play, but I think this would be more a case of violent conduct.

Definitely a red card.

Remember when Crouch did it in the World Cup? And it wasn't spotted by the Japanese officials.

Was this a girls game ?

If not, this long-haired individual should be sent off and given directions to the nearest barbers.

probably without doubt

Nothing like a good contradiction?

Yeah it made me chuckle too!

Tough one. If it's a good hard yank then I'd suppose it's violent conduct (I'd be hard pushed to report it as a serious foul), it's definitely dangerous as it could damage the neck if pulled too hard.

But I'd have to be in the situation to really judge it, as I reckon gut instinct would tell you a lot.
