Principality of Ivendell, that distant political entail that sits on the coast of Bali, has a population of about four and a half million people and stretches out over two hundred square miles. The principality includes the vast and enormous city of Ivendell, and the much smaller city of Casadublance. While Ivendell sits on the coast, Casadublance sits inland, at the eastern frontier of the tiny state.

Ivendell was originally called Neobaliopolis. It was the centerpiece for the Mortikanian expansion into the nation.
The city is an immense metropolis, and a gorgeous, cosmopolitan area. From the steep bluffs that fall into the ocean, the city rises up, spreading itself across the gentle knoll that are perched above the ocean. The eastern party of the city is larger, both in terms of height and due to the fact that from the eastern hills, the city slopes down in a sort of gentle bowel towards the ocean. There are two parts of the city, the City proper which is called Ivendell, and a small northern peninsula that is usually referred to as Terebethia. The city is further divided into the inner city, guarded by heavy walls, and the outer city which includes the suburbs and surrounding estates.

A-Palatine Hill

Palatine Hill is the center of the city’s government. It’s home to the vast mansions of the high nobility, as well as lesser buildings to house the bureaucracy. This requires so much space because not only does this district house the local nobility and government officials, it also houses the Sadian nobility and officials. The hill slopes down to the ocean, providing amazing views.

1-The Imperial Quarter
user posted image
Within this smaller walled encampment is the Imperial Quarter. The imperial Quarter consists of two main streets, that square around a block-long island.  The capital and the Palace stand back to back., making up this “island” The street the palace faces is called Palace street, while the street the capital faces is called Capital street. The two other streets are East and west street respectively. Around these buildings (the Palace and the Capital) are other high ranking government buildings, backed by a wall. There are four gates on the four sides of the Square wall (The square is shaped like a rectangle). To the North, south, east and west the gates open onto the four main roads. The square is on a large hill two hundred feet tall, and raised flat.

2-Gen Boulevard

Gen boulevard runs from the Imperial Quarter to the Calabria district. As this part of town is quainter and smaller than the vast and industralized eastern part of the city, the road is lined on the western side with docks and wharehouses, and on the eastern side with small cafes and lofts. There are also historic hotels and opera houses here. This is the more liberal and artistic part of the city, owing in part to the presence of the University of Ivendell in the Imperial Quarter and King’s College in the Calabria District. The road is large and intersects Zelpha street to the east.

B-The Calabria District

The Calabria district is just off the docks that border Gen Boulevard to the west. The district is filled with small, modest homes that are primarily occupied by university students and liberal thinkers. Artists of all mediums call this district home.

4-The Keen Palace

The Keen family, which has become very important politically throughout Sade (especially in Novendot holdings), has a huge palace in the city. It sits right on the water, and is indeed larger than Ivendell Palace. It’s new and extremely ornate. Though the Keen family draws their power primarily from Hayholt and Meria, this huge monstrosity serves as their head quarters for entertaining important officials and for leisure.

6-The Imperial Gate

The Imperial Gate is actually a bridge, which connects the far northern part of the city to the far southern part. It also serves to keep warships out, as canons are mounted on the western side. It’s bright red and has served as a international landmark.

C-The Molise District
user posted image
The Molise district is much more bourgeoisie than the Calabria district. The large townhouses here house upper middle class families that work primarily for the royal bureaucracy and other high ranking positions. The district also boasts cafes and restaurants and a thriving night life that is only supported by young, wealthy families.

D-The Alto District
user posted image
The Alto district is the primary commercial district. From the eastern wall of the city, the city slopes down to the ocean. The Alto district is thusly hilly and steeply. This lends the district a sort of charm. Especially when one considers that a huge immigrant population lives in this district. Both Celestials and Pasvies live here, left over from the various occupations of those different, respective foreign powers.

E- The Veneto District

The Veneto District is the financial district of the city. It’s filled with huge high rise buildings. The soaring sky scrapers and banks are located here, along with all the major business head quarters of the city. The Veneto District is arguably the economic center not only for the city, but also for the Principality and the island in general. Ivendell is much more developed than the national capital, and since the rise of Prince Leto, has become the center both politically and economically of the entire island. Thus, this district which contains banks, stock exchanges and other major firms, is perhaps one of the most important areas of the city.

3-Zelpha Street

Zelpha street is arguably the main drag of all of Ivendell. Its the eastern main street,. The street has most of the skyscrapers that house the important business firms and such. At the end of the street is the rail service, a bridge/railroad that connects all the Imperial Islands. Although the biggest buildings are on the strip, huge buildings occupy all of the eastern area of the city. Most of the side streets have huge fifteen two twenty story buildings, making this side of the city seem huge compared to the rest of the city, which is mostly small shops, factories, warehouses and suburbs.

F-The Marche District
user posted image
The Marche District, despite being home to the Ivendell Stock Exchange, is actually a residential district. It’s much less charming than the Molise district, however. Because it is so close to Capital Hill and the Stock Exchange, the people who live here aren’t simply bourgeoisie, but extremely wealthy and old families. Minor and untitled nobility live here along with the tycoons land owners. The town houses and apartment buildings here are grander and much larger than their more charming counterparts in the Molise. The buildings here are taller and more condensed, lending this area an extremely metropolitan feeling.

5-The Ivendell Stock Exchange Building

The Ivendell Stock Exchange building is perhaps the most important building in the city. It’s located right off of the Marche District, though it meets the ocean to the west.
The architecture is in the classical art deco style. Decorated with ornate gargoyles and stone maidens. The first three stories of the buildings is a large apartment store, for the wealthy. Clothes and shoes and all sorts of things are sold here, their main buyers being upper class woman. The store is called 'Lady Bush's Popular clothing for the fashionable Woman' or simply 'Ladies'. The next five stories are luxurious apartment suits, for rent (used by the wealthy).  The building is a perfect square, with a large eight story base. The next twenty two stories are in the square of the tower. The building comes to a large glass dome, at the twenty fifth. From the dome, a large thin tower ascends, with a light on top to show airplanes and airships how tall the building in. The Bush family resides in the penthouse, of the upper five stories.

G-The Valle D’Aosta District

The Valle D’Aosta district is the district of merrymaking. It centers around the large Ivendell Imperial Opera House, which takes up the center of the district. Built by Leto II, the Opera House is an elegant reminder that Ivendell is a cultural powerhouse. Surrounding the Opera House are smaller opera houses, theaters, fine hotels and dance halls. Restaurants and outdoor amusement gardens also fill the area.

B-The Lazio Suburbs
user posted image
There are few poor people in Ivendell. Vagrancy and loitering laws ship anyone without a job into the country or to work camps on the frontiers of the principality. Thus, the population of Ivendell is largely middle class. The high standards of living and presence of so many lucrative government and burocratic jobs make it nearly impossible not to be well off. Yet the middle class, those who aren’t bourgeoisie nor gentry nor nobility reside in the outer suburbs. These pleasant, large houses, set off from their quiet streets are both idyllic and relatively affordable. There are schools and parks throughout the district to serve these middle income families.

C-The Teribethia District
user posted image
One can find in the Teribethia district, the fine palaces, opera houses and museums of the Pasvie lords. The southern side of the island is covered in Villa's, Only the north, eastern and western sides of the islands are used for anything other then housing. The main street is "Katain" Street, which serves as a bridge connecting the peninsula to the city proper, runs straight north from the Molise district, through Banji park. It’s a large bridge that, along with the Imperial Gate, helps define Ivendell as a major source of landmarks.

D-Monte di Neobaliopolis
user posted image
The Mount, as it’s called, is a huge, ancient fortress, that helps defend Ivendell from any attackers. It sits atop a huge hill that is connected to the peninsula of Neobaliopolis by a wide marsh, that floods when the tide comes in. Thus, for half of the day, the fortress is an island, and for the other half, it’s connected by a wet, reedy corridor of land. It’s difficult to get to, however, because the marsh is home to both dangerous animals, and quick sand. Thus, only by boat can this fortress be reached and even then... only when those in control of the fortress whish it to be reached.

E-The Cliffs of Tigris
user posted image
The Cliffs of Tigris are not simply cliffs. Though they were once a lovely place to go and picnic, they have begun to be developed. The city, though a vast and major metropolis, has a distinctive lack of industries. There are few factories that produce anything. Most of the city is residential, commercial and financial. Very few of the products that run through Ivendell are made there. Thus, the Cliffs are beginning to be developed and turned into an industrial park. Yet there has been very little development so far, leaving the city still at the mercy of it’s Imperial parents in Bellterra.

F-The Eastern Farms
user posted image
The farms and vineyards of Ivendell are legendary. They are possessed both by a landed gentry and the nobility of the principality. They are far more productive and well run than the smaller farms of the Balican natives. And far more beautiful as well.

G-The Banji Park
user posted image
Banji park was set aside by the Empress Sabriel Novendot as vast public park. It stretches from the northern side of the city proper to the Teribethia peninsula, surrounding that district. The park is home to large gazebos, small villas for rent, an miles and miles of wooded park and walking trails. Though there is no hunting allowed, many people enjoy horse rides through the park.
