Title: A Cry For Vgt!
Description: And you (somewhat) active members too!

viridiancity - February 10, 2008 09:54 AM (GMT)
Who's still active around here?

This site needs more traffic, a better layout, a larger tight nit community, a better layout/colour scheme(meaning to forums for this and the one before), and I think while the main website is good it may be able to do with some tweaks, mainly streamlining ones, maybe.

So, who IS active around here anyway?

holyice7 - February 16, 2008 06:05 AM (GMT)
I check in here every once in a while, and I'm quite saddened by the state of the place.

I've added several more soundtracks to my name since this place stopped being active, and I would love to post them, but I'm not seeing anything happen around here.

Such a shame; I thought there was going to be stuff done for the new year.

By all means, post whatcha got! It's not like ANYTHING would hurt us at this point. The handful who still come would love to see anybody with tunes.

I remember submitting the soundtrack for an old game I loved called Machines, by Acclaim which went bankrupt some time after. I never did get a reply. . .

Well I suppose I'll submit stuff if the community becomes un . . .dead . . .

Well I am the resident Web Developer so I'm interested to know what tweaks you had in mind :).

viridiancity - March 29, 2008 12:52 PM (GMT)
I'll post them as they come, I've actually forgotten the things I had in mind, though they were small things. The site definitely needs traffic and exposure, and hopefully we'll get a close community after that.

I think one of the tweak I was thinking of was some menu streamlining, because I spend awhile looking at it wondering where the forum one was and where the downloads were, but I don't think there's too much to be done unless we had a design overhaul, which we really don't need yet.

holyice7 - March 29, 2008 04:41 PM (GMT)
The new design on the main page is fairly easy to use for navigation, but I suggest we make the Download link on the game pages a little bigger, or give it its own button. It's kind of hard to see there down on the right. And is that track list link really needed? The track list is right there on the page.

And while I love it that you run previews on the pages, it might be better to set the player so that it doesn't play on its own. It makes this place NSFW and NSFS.

Updates to the site will bring the traffic and exposure it needs, but thats Hunters realm and I can't do much to help there :P.

I know what you mean by the menu... that will be changed on the next design :D

I'll see what I can come up with, if its not changed in the current design it will be in the next.

I know its right there on the page but I can't remember why I put in... it won't be in the next design.

That was at Hunter's request, but the next version of the site should be more user-friendly in that respect. You'll probably be given the option to play music all the time, something along those lines, so it will be off by default.

That answers everything for now, until later :D

So, are things still moving along on site restoration?

I've got quite a number of soundtracks coming down the pipeline, but my current host is complaining that I'm taking up too much space, so I'd love to help this place back into shape until I can configure my own server space.

It's hard for me to get my soundtracks out there without risking the bandwidth on my current host's tiny setup, as well...and that's just annoying. I work hard on these, and I want people to hear them.

And we want to hear them! :) ...No, I don't have anything original to say. But I'm HERE! :P Great Eternal Darkness sounftrack, by the way.

P.S. If you post here in all caps, you get an echo.

...this place alive?

Gro-Ab-Shalk - June 13, 2008 06:33 PM (GMT)
Nope. Shore Hain't. But hi!

Seriously. We're the only two blokes here.

Make that three.

Mikemc - August 4, 2008 05:12 AM (GMT)
and a half.
Seriously though if you only could see this **** template I gotta fill in to add a music page, it's the real reason nobody's contributing.

Hunter2049 - August 4, 2008 02:22 PM (GMT)
^Exactly why it's not being updated......I simply don't have the time to do it anymore, though I apreciate everyone hanging around.....

Mikemc - August 5, 2008 08:35 AM (GMT)
I'm in the process of creating a javascript front-end for your template. It will allow for easy editing and place everything where it should go. If it's the only thing holding you back, let's pray for a quick release ;). Also if it works, I'll need access to the ftp so i can start making pages, unless that requires me to also add in fabulous descriptions

First off, are you sure this is the most recent version? It does not match with the sites' current layout, unless after being added it reformats itself.

Hunter2049 - August 7, 2008 03:40 PM (GMT)
No, it's slightly different (as I added google ads to the pages just to keep the poor dog alive a little bit longer) and please don't worry about game descriptions.....I think we need to get rid of them anyways and just focus on the music.

Thanks SO MUCH for doing that, Mike! I'll gladly give you FTP Access, just let me know when!

Omnis - August 12, 2008 04:34 AM (GMT)
Make that Four :D

The template ain't that bad, and the tutorial should only take 20 minutes tops. The real reason is that everyone around here is a bit of slacker :P, myself included , either that or Real LifeTM  seems to take all ones time up.

I can understand people having more important things to do and this taking low priority which would mean it may take a while for updates to come around. This is the position I'm in and obviously most people around here as well.

Best bet at the moment is to stick around and see what happens :)

holyice7 - August 14, 2008 09:29 PM (GMT)
I would be more active in doing my soundtracks if I had a place to put them. =/

The thing is, I'm hogging up space on some nice people's FTP server, so I don't want to go throwing the links to it around too much.

Seriously, I have about ten more games that are all ready to be organized into soundtracks.

If this place becomes a haven for them, I'll bring them here.
