[SIZE=14]Hello, new here.
I am disabled and was an artist and now using a new medium photography. I am using a Nikon D50 at present and find it a bit too heavy as I have, apparently a muscle wasting disorder +++ and was wondering if there is anything similar which might be lighter or ideas of overcoming the load both in my hands and the strap around my neck.
Twin - bought a compact and has gone bolistic with enthusiasm. I know you have told me that she will have to kinda get a feel of which camera suits her best if she want to get more serious. She is doing damn well in composition, her sharp eye and is keen in extreme. I say she'd be very very good indeed.
I would like to surprise her with a suitable SRL digital when she returns from London where she is seeing her Parkinsons neurologist.
At present she has only the slight hand tremor and is trying to finish up her Phd.
Her walking is good and the enthusiasm with the camera has her walking far beyond ever before.
Finally, I am thinking of doing an OCA photography course as I am too ill to attend classes and I find retention very poor due to neurological problems and I am deaf and get very tired.
Would this be a good idea or are there better courses presently out there for one like me.
Or, I have CS2 and a MacBook Pro and the D50 and know little about each and am keen.
xAnn
Hi, Ann, and welcome to the DPS forum. Very glad you have decided to join us.
As Digital progresses, so the cameras get smaller and lighter, and so do the lenses
The smallest and lightest at the moment is Our sponsers, Olympus, E400 and if it is as good as the two I own already, an E1 and E300,then it is a good start.
Just type in "Olympus smallest dslr" in your search engine, it will take you straight to the imformation.
Maybe a monopod is the answer to your own problem, if you find you can hold it ok.Would take all the strain of your neck.and you can lean on it.
With regard to study,I don't think anyone can really advise you,if you want to you will, and there is no better feeling than understanding the equipment you are using,
Hope this makes sense,
David
