I need help!!!!!
Although often on a disability scooter, sometimes I am also a passenger in a car.
Sometimes I get as close to my photographic subject as possible, drag my sorry ass upright, holding my walking stick in one hand, then attempt to focus my camera using both hands. Meanwhile I am leaning my walking stick against myself, and guess what happens next !!!! Yes you got it in one!!!! It falls over, and I can't pick it up. Has anyone else had this problem? Am I as stupid as I feel?
In this day and age of scientific and engineering advancement, has anyone seen or heard of a walking stick which will stay put? If not is there an inventor out there? I will buy one, that's a sure start for commercial success.
Hi jimbo.
Reading your post i thought i had seen a tripod based walking stick but thought i had better check first. If you go to www.mobilitysouthwest.co.uk I think you will find what you are looking for.

I hope this is what you are looking for Jimbo, if so i was pleased to help.

Hi, Jimbo, I use a Manfrotto monopod with a three legged foot. The legs screw into the bottom when you use it as a stick, then you let them out when you need to use them.As an aid to walking it is a bit heavy for full time use, but as a walking/photographic aid it is superb.
The foot comes as a seperate accessory and will fit most Manfrotto monopods, it is stable enough to hold a camera safely standing alone.
If you contact Manfrotto, they will send you one of their wonderful catalogues and you can, like me,drool all day. They will also tell you your nearest dealer, as their products meed to be tried before buying,
Hope this is some help,
David
ps The stick telescopes, so car travel not a problem
Simple solution - piece of cord with a loop and a dog lead type clip - clip to part of your clothing and insert stick when needed - costs next to nothing and works for me all the time.

Now why didn't I think of that ? What a good idea, thank you. The insert stick when needed bit bothers me, is this medically possible? but then it is little different to a shooting stick lol. Seriously though a simple approach that I hadn't thought of.
